O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
The sleeper of the year
When I watched this movie the first time I was unprepared, and was not sure what I had just seen. I watched it again and realized it is one exceptionally good show. It is better than any of the 2000 "blockbusters" that I saw, and it shows a George Clooney I have never seen. I loved this show. It is very comical, very erotic in the siren scene, and has some really good "old timey" music. I highly recommend it. Now I have to go look for some Dapper Dan pomade.
The Granny (1995)
Is there such a thing as "minus" stars?
I went to the video shop to rent a really cheesy horror flick, and boy did I get one. The Granny caught my attention because it stars one-time beauty and decent actress Stella Stevens, and looked like it might be fun. Alas, Stevens is barely recognizable, and the show is not only not fun, it is agonizing to watch. I rate it -**, and recommend it as a candidate for worst movie ever made.
Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957)
It's definitely "one of a kind", but bad...?
I have to admit that even though I am older than most redwood trees I only saw Plan 9 From Outer Space for the first time last year, and then I only rented it because I had heard so much about it being the worst movie ever made. I watched it with my wife and two teens and to put it briefly we were ROTFLAAO. Everyone was right about it being bad, but I had no idea it would be so bad as to be hilarious. If Citizen Kane is the best movie ever made and this is the worst I can find that fitting. They are the Yin and Yang. They are total opposites, yet are timeless and should be seen by all. One for a cry and the other for a huge laugh.
