wonderful

This movie is one of my all-time favorites. It is terribly underrated and should be one of the top 250 (closer to 1 than 250) movies on IMDB. Kathy Bates, Jessica Tandy, Mary-Louise Parker and Mary-Stuart Masterson are INCREDIBLE and know how to tell a detailed, beautifully woven story. Wonderful transition from book to film. If you haven't seen this, you are missing out.

Pamela Anderson & Patrick Swayze??
10 October 2002
Wow... I can't believe that I actually put this video in my VCR, pushed play AND sat through the entire picture without hitting stop. Actually, I found myself totally wrapped up and intrigued with this picture. When it was over, I said to myself, "this has to be the worst movie I have ever seen... completely tasteless." Yet, I still can't explain why I was drawn to this movie. GUMMO is very strange, very sadistic, and very comical. Maybe that is all I needed to watch it. Judge for yourself, but I gave this move a 1/10.

**side note** the part with the albino girl dancing outside by her car in her work apron, has to be one of the funniest scenes I have ever seen. "I WOULD PAY MONEY...(pause) TO TOUCH HIM" (referring to Patrick Swayze).

Lots o' fun

This was a great film! I really didn't know what this was about until I watched it. Robin Williams, Ed Norton, Danny DeVito and Catherine Keener are absolutely fabulous in this film! Take time to watch this *VERY TWISTED* comedy.

The Sunshine Boys (1996 TV Movie)

B-A-D

This movie is H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E!!

A friend bought it for me because he knew that I enjoyed Woody Allen's work. I really tried to like it, but half-way into it I got so frustrated with Peter Falk (why does he have to be so annoying??) and the script that I had to turn it off. It left me with a really bad stomach ache. I have never had a movie affect me like that. I tried, I really tried. In order for my love of Woody Allen to come back, I had to watch "Annie Hall" with Diane Keaton and "Scenes from a Mall" with Bette Midler.

Skip this movie...if someone accidentally buys this movie for you (because it just happened to be in the $3.00 bin at Wal-Mart), I have a little advice.... BURN IT!

Satisfying
26 March 2002
This film held my attention the entire time. The cinematography was absolutely stunning. This is a beautiful film. I was taken in by the beauty that Cate Blanchett and Billy Crudup possess. It wasn't the most exciting cinema ever, but none-the-less it still had it's wonderfully planned moments. Worth a watch!

Joy Ride (2001)

Great fun!
12 March 2002
I went into this movie not expecting much. I left the movie theatre with nothing but positive things to say about "Joy Ride". First and foremost, the ACTING is excellent. Paul Walker and Steve Zahn are absolutely wonderful actors to watch on the screen. Ever since watching Zahn in "Happy Texas" I knew that he had the ability to portray wonderfully well-rounded characters. Paul Walker has the charisma and charm that people like James Dean, (skinny) Marlon Brando and even Jimmy Stewart. As being a frequent ticket purchaser at the movies, "Joy Ride" is one exciting ride!

Okay, but not great
26 October 2001
I was flipping through the channels last night and stumbled upon this television series that deals with musicians who have *crossed over* into acting. This documentary would have been great if it didn't spend half of the movie focusing on NSYNC members Lance Bass and Joey Fatone. They have only done one movie and they were the featured. WHY??? There are some great bits with Meat Loaf, Bette Midler, Ice-T, Jewel, Courtney Love, and Willie Nelson. To bad the movie didn't spend more time on them. I mean, Bette Midler, Meat Loaf, and even Willie Nelson has been in the business for thirty years now and their segments were no more than two minutes a piece. It was very uneven...

It was holiday fun!
22 December 2000
I thought this movie was perfect for a light Friday evening. Some time away from all that Christmas shopping. I thoroughly enjoyed What Women Want and will probably go back to the theatre again to see it. I have to first comment on the casting. Whoever casted this movie, did a wonderful job. Mel, Helen Hunt, Marisa Tomei, Alan Alda, (plus FABULOUS cameos by Bette Midler and Delta Burke) were perfectly cast. The only miscasting was Mel Gibson's daughter (Ashley Johnson (Chrissy Seaver from "Growing Pains"))... She was very whiny all the time, and in the scene where she is sitting in the bathroom stall during her prom...I couldn't understand a single word. One thing that was very special in this movie was the scene with Mel Gibson and the suicidal office women. I'm sure many can relate to her. All in all... the movie was very enjoyable. Go and see it for a fun time.

Misery (1990)

Kathy Bates/James Caan... WOW
5 October 2000
Yeah, I have to say... this movie scared me like nothing else. I did the unthinkable and watched it alone. The under-rated Kathy Bates (Fried Green Tomatoes) did such a thrilling job of being completely psycho. She had you wrapped around her finger in this movie. I have nothing but positive things to say about Misery and recommend it to anybody who likes a good thrill. Kudos also should go to James Caan (For the Boys) who allowed the viewer to be scared out of their minds with him. He just had to raise an eyebrow and I would jump. Great thriller!!!

Great Movie Musical, Better Stage Musical
5 October 2000
This is the catch: if you fell in love with this musical by seeing it on the stage first, you won't enjoy the movie version as much. I did this (and am thankful), but something just didn't click with me during the movie. First of all, there are differences. I won't give away the ending but, the ending of the movie is COMPLETELY different from the stage version. Beverly D'Angelo is great and so is a very young Treat Williams. This is a fine movie, but PLEASE, if you ever have the chance... SEE IT ON THE STAGE!!!!

What were you thinking Diane?
26 May 1999
I really tried to watch this movie with an open mind. Ever since watching Diane Keaton in "The First Wives Club", I fell in love with her. She is a brilliant actress and a somewhat strange individual which makes her very compelling. The sad part about it is, not even she can save this movie. I really enjoyed the first "Father of the Bride" but found this one to be almost annoying. The movie was very predictable and humorless. Steve Martin was very disappointing....so sad...

Childrens Film
26 May 1999
First of all, anyone watching this film has to remember that it is aimed towards children. You cannot have the expectations that there is some deep meaning connected with this film, or that it is going to be another Bette Midler comedy with R-rated humor. If that is what you are looking for, watch "Ruthless People". This film is funny and cute. That is all. If I was a 10 year old child, I would love this movie. It is a family film and nobody should expect anything more. Secondly, it has Bette Midler and a wonderfully funny Kathy Najimy and dim-witted Sarah Jessica Parker......so, ENJOY!

Blew me away!!
25 January 1999
Bette Midler showcases her talents and beauty in "Diva Las Vegas". I am thrilled that I taped it and I am able to view whenever I want to. She possesses what it takes to keep an audience in captivity. Her voice is as beautiful as ever and will truly impress you. The highlight of the show was her singing "Stay With Me" from her 1979 movie "The Rose". You can feel the emotion in the song and will end up having goose bumps. The show will leave you with the urge to go out and either rent a Bette Midler movie or go to the nearest music store and purchase one of Bette Midler's albums.
