Farligt venskab (1995)
"Nattevagten" was much, much better!!!
It is far from being a brilliant film. The story is not original, it is predictable and tiresome. Some of the dialogues are directly awful. But what lifts the movie from rating 5 to 8, is the extraordinary performance of the actor Ulf Pilgaard. He is really a fantastic actor. He is playing the old and ill doctor Per Wahlin and the young Janus in the old mans body. He is really good at playing both roles, so good that you as a viewer of the film almost believe in the brain exchange. It is just a pity, that the talent of this great actor is wasted on a script that bad!
Ruby Cairo (1992)
A VERY boring movie!
This could actually have been a pretty good film. There are some great actors, some cool locations and it is an quite interesting story. I don't know what has gone wrong, but the movie is VERY boring. All the questions it builds up during long sequences of a woman's search for her "dead" husband are not answered at all. Too bad. Rating: 1/10
Kampen om den røde ko (1987)
A Danish "Hot Shots"
This film is truly a very funny movie, but you must understand the Danish mentality and you must have seen several other Danish films - Especially the so-called "Morten Korch"-film - to understand the humour. I love the film - as I like films like Hot Shots 1 & 2. Crazy-comedies which make fun of all kinds of films. But see it anyway. If you like a good laugh you won't be disappointed! Rating: 10!
Sexual Healing (1993)
A good erotic film
This is an erotic movie you should see. The acting is allright; and the actors are also quite good. The erotic scenes are beautiful, sensitive and quite realistic, they are still very hardcore, but in a fine way.
Enjoy it!
Carry on Columbus (1992)
A Total Wast Of Time...!
This is one of the most boring comedies, I have ever seen. The plot is bad; the acting is bad. And it is NOT a funny movie. Please use your time at something else. You will be sorry if you wast 1½ hour of your life on this crap. I'm am!
Festen (1998)
Festen is a Masterpiece!
First things first: this is the best movie I've seen for many years, and I've seen quite a few. Next order of business: if you are at all squeamish about dysfunctional families or psychological (or physical) violence in the movies, stay away. You might see this picture described as being about a family reunion or birthday celebration. Do not go expecting wholesome family fun! Now a word about technique. The movie was shot on video, not film, and the camera movements are, shall we say, liberated. It often swoops about, flying around the action; sometimes does quick pans, like someone watching both sides of a conversation; and occasionally stands still, observing quietly. It virtually becomes another character in the film. I can almost guarantee you've never seen anything like the camera work in this picture.
This, along with the quasi-verite style and apparently exclusive use of available light, enhances the believability of the story, and the end result is that there's not a false moment in the picture. I don't even want to get started on the greatness of these performances, because I try to limit the length of my little reviews. It's simply a monumental acting and directing job. Finally, to the story. I can't tell you much without spoiling it for you. I will say that you've never, ever seen family trauma treated in such an honest and unsentimental, yet tremendously powerful fashion. The ebb and flow of confrontation, retreat, and confrontation renewed, are so compelling, so universally human, yet the treatment given is so fresh and vital....well, I just can't say enough, words fail me. I'm re-experiencing the exhilaration of seeing it as I write this. The movie simply is a Danish miracle!
Valgaften (1998)
The third time is the time of luck...
The Oscar-winning Danish short-film of Kim Magnusson and Anders Thomas Jensen is their third short-film to be nominated to an Oscar. It is, as always, an ironic film about a very heavy subject. The Danish mentality is the keyword in this fantastic short-film. Don´t miss it for anything in the world.
Bean (1997)
Mr. Bean as a genius dr. in art....
The movie is fun. But the typical British humour of Rowan Atkinson doesn´t seem to fit in the USA. It belongs in the "stiff-upper-lip"-England. But... allright. Bean is in America, where he ruins all around him - a family and a famous painting... That's the plot of the film... But mr. Atkinson is a great actor, and he carries the film to be a fine comedy, but I still think the TV-shows of Mr.Bean was much better!
