Perfection
25 May 2006
I showed this movie to my alternative ed. students. They totally identified with Sam, who is basically them. As the story went on and Kevin Kline's character owns up to his fatherhood role, some students were visibly moved. As Sam came around, they saw themselves in it.

By the end of the movie, several students were openly weeping. I'm not ashamed to admit I was openly weeping also, partly because of the movie, but also because it affected so many of my students.

IF YOU HAVE A TEENAGER WHO IS OUT OF CONTROL, SHOW THEM THIS MOVIE. If you want a great flick full of life lessons, watch this film. Watch it for you, watch it for others. Watch it for the future.

As a bio teacher, this was exCELLent.

Granted, not the funniest movie ever by typical "guffaw standards", but certainly one of the most clever. The intelligence behind the humor is evident (unlike another Farrelly movie, Dumb and Dumber) and is also entertaining for kids.

The more you know about Biology, the more this movie tickles your humorous.

Bad until I saw the real thing for myself.

Like most people, I did not like this film. Now, I live in England and have visited many of the same countries in the film, I have a new appreciation for it. The writers were spot on with their portrayals of the culture and, to a large extent, the characteristics of its people. Brilliant!

I speak as a Biology teacher.

As a teacher of Biology, specializing in Genetics, no amount of labs, work, discussions, or any other movie gives quite as vivid a display of the _near_ possible future as this movie.

I highly recommend watching it while keeping it in the back of your brain that some of the events in the movie have already come true and much is not far off. I know this because my sister was allowed to pick which eggs she wanted implanted into her based on which cells looked most healthy. With the Human Genome Project nearing completion, I predict that within 10 little years, our nation will be enthralled in debates over the issues presented in this movie. Within 50 years, this movie could be a reality. That is within most of our lifetimes.

Rarely does such a movie make it to video that is so weird, purposeful, yet artistic. I bought it b/c it was $4.00 in the discount rack. I don't regret it, yet if I had 2 movies such as this, it would be a waste.
