True Lies (1994)
your dog will love the cool stunts
"True Lies" must have been written and directed by a slightly retarded 10-year old. It's been a long time since I have seen this kind of production money wasted on stunts this dumb (albeit nice-looking). Unless you are a member of the theatre-going majority (ie: stupid), don't waste your time on this spectacle.
Up Close & Personal (1996)
A long boring cliché movie
"Up Close And Personal" is a love story dragged on over two hours. The script is rather empty, usually predictable, and above all boring. It is a sad example that even an excellent cast can't make a good movie where there isn't one.
Cliché movies like this are usually forgotten within days, but for some reason, the memory of "Up Close And Personal" still haunts me. It won't let me forget how I wasted time and money on it. I give it 1/10.
Reservoir Dogs (1992)
should have been a theatre play
It is extremely difficult to make a good movie when almost the entire script happens in the same room within a few hours. In fact, at the moment, I can't think of any movie that has accomplished that. Tarantino's "Reservoir Dogs" certainly hasn't.
"Reservoir Dogs" could have been an excellent theatre play. In fact, it IS an excellent theatre play that was taped and sold to us as a movie. It is sad that we are so preoccupied with movies that a script like this has to be wasted on one.
Making matters worse is the violence. Tarantino often uses it in his movies to get attention, and this time takes it too far. "Pulp Fiction's" violence was milder and stood out less from the rest of the story, but "Reservoir Dogs" goes way over the top. It is very difficult to offend me with violence yet Tarantino does just that.
