Erik the Viking (1989)
Hysterical and Educational
When this movie came out I was working at the local multiplex and saw it on a whim because I had seen everything else. This is one of the BEST movies I have seen. You get the Monty Python-esque humor mixed with an amusing poke at Norse mythology. My teacher had even used the film for our Norse mythology unit in Myths and Legends class. The "now you see me, now you dont" scene is one of the funniest.
Oz (1997)
One Episode and you will be hooked.....
There was nothing on and I switched on HBO and got hooked on OZ. It is like nothing I have ever seen before. The characters are real and are well acted. By the end of my first episode I was hooked. I find myself wanting to know more about each character and what makes them tick. This is a definite must see show.
Muriel's Wedding (1994)
Excellent movie!
Muriel's Wedding has to be one of the best films I have ever seen. I have felt like Muriel my whole life and it made me feel so much better to see someone who can get out of that rut. It helps that the movie combines comedy and drama in an even balance to have you laughing and crying in the same scene. If anything, you have to see this movie for the zipper scene. :)
House of Cards (1993)
Educational
This film was educational about the problems that autistic children face. The part of the film that stays with me is when Tommy Lee Jones's character states that a lot of autistic children are misdiagnosed as crack babies or something else....even demonic possession. I work with autistic children and the repetition shown by the children in the movie is displayed. If you want to see a healthy environment for autustic children, this movie has it.
