I'm instantly addicted. All of the bad reviews are true. The women are terrible and the Oppenheimer brothers are pigs. They're all superficial, unevolved and ridiculous, and I can't stop watching.

Terrible! I LOVE IT

I hate myself.....
fionamarie_hay5 April 2019
These are some of the worst kinds of people in the worst kind of trashy 'hills' style show where every one is a total b*tch, everything is completely staged and you want to bash your head against the screen to make it stop.
And I hate myself for how much I enjoyed watching it. It really is awful, but I watched it all in like 2 days.
Makes me wish I was living in LA and selling real estate to rich idiots. If only I weren't ugly.

Ambition. That's it.
You get your dream house, dream body, dream job, dream husband, then what?
You hate it all, and then you create drama because you're bored or even worse, you backstab others because you crave what they've got that you don't, and all of that because you're too busy climbing the social ladder and therefore EMPTY.
You need to have a heart in order to enjoy the fruits of your ambition.
Gosh what a culture!

Guilty pleasure

Don't see the issue here. You know what you are getting when watching a show like this. It's trash tv, so if you don't like it, then simply don't watch it. It's highly enjoyable watching these women fight it out and argue amongst each other, whilst seeing some stunning properties in various locations of LA. Just kick back, enjoy the ride and don't take this to seriously
So horrible, so good

Watching these plastic fantastic superficial women sell over the top houses is a guilty pleasure. You won't feel intellectually challenged, but it is very easy to watch. Some keywords to summarize this show: Boytoy, barbies, botox, backstabbing.
Entertaining but trashy with terrible soundtrack
jlschumann28 May 2023
I enjoy watching this show even though it's a bit cringe inducing at times. What I can't stand is the massively uninspired, non-stop "boss chick" soundtrack. It's painful and constant and borderline ruins the show. Every scene.
Aside from that, the drama does feel relatively believable for the most part. The pacing is well done and the show stays entertaining throughout the seasons. Real estate is actually a pretty small part of the show, so if you're looking for an HGTV type of experience, odds are you will not find what you're looking for here. That said the inner workings of the real estate industry are discussed which can be cool to see.

I watch this when I don't want to think or feel anything.

This is good background or space-out TV sometimes after a long day as it's not relatable or emotionally touching in any way.
I was in my late teens when Laguna Beach and then The Hills were popular, so it's also a bit of a throwback to watch this. It is very similar in that it is fake yet vain and self-indulgent at the same time. It's very strange to see a group of adults, even working professionals, in situations similar to The Hills-how can anyone find it real or take it seriously? It's pretty simple: a small, maybe awkward or unkind moment happens between two characters and then the next several episodes are focused on discussions about the situation. Most of these situations would be forgiven in forgotten quickly in real life. For example, there is an episode on S2 where a woman is at her engagement party, but takes the time to talk with her friends about the status of a disagreement with another co-worker who she is not close with. Why in the world would someone focus their energy on something so silly on a big personal day?
Despite these critiques it is a simple show and I can see why some enjoy it.
The main characters' outfits and the houses are fun to look at.

Vapid, shallow and brainless. You'll love it!
joaovitorn-1372725 May 2020
Don't get me wrong, I do agree that these are some of the most shallow people you will ever see. Their arguments are ridiculous, their vocabulary is comparable to that of a 5 year old and the LA accent? Don't get me started.
They act like they're curing cancer 80% of the time and the charity thing they did was laughable. The dinner afterwards was more expensive than the donation made.
All that being said, it is incredibly entertaining to see the lifestyles of the rich and famous LA realtors and the cattiness that goes on behind the scenes. So you may very well lose a few brain cells along the way, but it will be worth it.
Setting an example
smtcrwp23 May 2023
As this world crumbles, people relate as they breathe.
For me it is a gluttonous treat. I examine myself and compare as I'm a middle-class Mom of two, I realize how ridiculous these people are.....I mean "C'mon.....they sacrifice their own self worth, longevity, and tend to create such worthless ideas that if women aren't perfect, earning as much as them, and known by money that "WE" as women aren't as beautiful or amazing as they make us feel we should be!" Being an ex-entertainer, spending my twenties thinking the same way; I watch in disbelief and disgust that the example they set is SO diluted of WHAT is really important. Just like the rest of the world that watches these reality shows I sit in awe of how sad it is that people out there are SO obsessed with labels, and the outside appearances it's no wonder the statistics have grown with eating disorders, suicide, and low self-esteem.
Just like any female that wants to be exceptional, smart, and beautiful.....these people are "fake actors" and the series being a "reality" show is FAR from reality.
I hope the money they make helps pay for the therapy and self-loathing that will ensue years after the wrinkles set in after years of Botox, the money they wasted on a purse that won't feed their children, the fact that there are deeper issues of more importance at hand that NONE OF THEM actually care about, and face it..none of that even matters now does it??????!!!?
I sum it up as a guilty pleasure.
And if I can't tell anyone I like it; it isn't good for me!

It will fulfill the reality TV void you didn't know you had.
weink24 March 2020
This show is AMAZING. The drama is almost as ridiculous as the prices of the homes these women are showing. I didn't know what to expect when I randomly put this show on one evening, but it fulfilled all of my reality tv hopes and dreams. If you're looking for a show to watch with drama, glamor, and minimal thinking required, this is the one for you.
Good and bad
cehutton28 March 2019
I really enjoy following real estate as a hobby whiched compelled me to watch this series. I enjoyed watching Chrishell learn the ropes of real estate and wished there was more focus on mentoring her so that we, as the audience could learn along with her. What I didn't like was all the personal dialogue particularly the focus on a hedonistic lifestyle. If there is a second season I would love more focus on the listings, Chrishell learning the ropes and less on the drama that appears to be made up or over dramatized.
Not what I expected

I got excited for another 'house' show, especially because its local to me.
However you barely see the houses. It's mostly a reality show of what looks almost like an escort service full of bitchy women talking crap on everyone and some unpleasant and sometimes creepy 'house shoppers.'

guilty pleasure... but there's some annoying agents
jupitersboba23 August 2020
This show is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. I do not enjoy the three b's. Christine, Davina, and Heather are absolute mean girls. No rag mag interview will change my mind that they don't deserve my respect. Love the rest of the crew and you can tell their passion is in real estate and not drama or fame.
Selling Botox.
seroom28 November 2021
Botox botox botox everywhere ! Bunch of mindless zombies filled to capacity with botox and silicon want to eat your brain, well they physically can't so they just settle on destroing it. Just Run for your lives, it should be rated in LD50 0.0001 episode/person. Show is heavily scripted with "actors" being ... ehhh, I don't care and not wasting any more of my brain cells on this .
Waste of time...
jester3434200210 November 2023
I absolutely loved the first few seasons of the show but it's gotten progressively worse over time. I'm on S7 E3 and so far, there's been little house showing and tons of idiotic female drama. The BS scene with Chrishell and Marie-Lou ended this show for me. The fact that Chrishell had to make a deal about G's pronouns is idiotic. There are two genders... no one else has to play your (or your loved ones) pronoun/mental health game.
I'm absolutely done with the show which is disappointing because I've always looked forward to new seasons when they were announced. I'd much rather watch Million Dollar Listing LA so I can to see actual houses.

Warning: Spoilers
I actually enjoyed the show! The real estate side was fun! The issue for me were a few of the ladies! Christine is just rude! She's a complete narcissist who thinks the world is hers. Chrishell is sweet and doesn't deserve some of the treatment she received. Mary is kind get needs to stand up for herself more. Maya is strong and determined yet compassionate. Heather is sweet yet sassy. Then there's Davina who shouldn't be even in the show! The few times she spoke literally caused the majority of the drama! Chrishell is new and is only asking questions bc she truly doesn't know everyone and their personal issues. She asks a simple question and Davina spills "her own judgements" then throws Chrishell under the bus when SHE was the one who said rude things! Then tried to say Chrishell is two faced! I was literally shocked bc it's on video that she was the one who said Romain doesn't pay for anything and that Mary does it all! So how is she not getting ripped a new a-hole?! Her and Christine are both fake and claim to be real! They're a joke! Real women wouldn't like them and not bc they are powerful and intimidating but bc they are fake rude sneaky and self centered. It's all there in the episodes so if you watch the entire season in one wkend it's all fresh in your head! LoL entertaining to say the least...
The Plastics 10 Years After Graduation
francesfarmersrevengeonseattle26 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Were you ever wondered what happened to Queen Bee Mean Girl Regina and her crew after graduation from high school? Well, here they are! Grown up Plastics selling incredible properties in the Hills, with swimming pools and neighboring movie stars.
Good thing they earn ginormous commissions, cause they MUST HAVE it to keep themselves Barbie perfect in Legally Blonde couture and cars. It's a reality show - with the drama and competitiveness you would expect of realtors under the pimpish rule of the trollish Oppenheim twins. And hey - try to stop seeing the obvious resemblances with the Kardashian girls - except no dark brunettes! The hair, the makeup, the accents, the clothes! You know they were at least influenced by the Ks!
Here we have 39 year old, Mary, dating a 25 year old French kid, who is shocked to discover his reluctance to be a dad at 25ish is an issue! Heather, chasing a hockey player in Slovakia. Neither of these women could find better matches for themselves - with their looks and paychecks?' The obvious mean girl Christine, hates Heather for skating a client. Maya, an Israeli Gwenneth Paltrow lookalike, has a long distance marriage with her hubby in Miami. New girl Chrishell, born from poverty, now makes the big time thanks to the Oppenheims. What a fun group - and WHO THE HELL WANTS TO WORK WITH THESE PEOPLE!
Well, let's see how many seasons Oppenheims are willing to pay to keep this show on Netflix.

Two stars for the properties they actually show in between the BS
and_shove_it_up_your_butt25 July 2021
I expected a little drama seeing as Selling Sunset is a sister-cousin to The Hills however these chicks take the cake. Every single episode is nothing but old, rehashed, immature drama. Christine is way too pretentious and it's like, for what?!? Amanza sweetheart, you are clearly in the wrong place and don't fit in (which some of the other girls are happy to highlight in sneaky ways). 90% of the cast is unlikeable and have minimal redeeming qualities. Barf.

I Like it

Can't tell you why or you'll think I'm vapid, vain, disgusting and whatever. I may be but I still like it. Besides the unwritten reasons I like it because its entertaining and I enjoy looking at houses I would never live in. Makes me feel superior. A good series Netflix.
Truly disgusting people
seattlebruin24 March 2019
I generally detest reality tv, but so like some shows about real estate. Calling this reality tv is a stretch like most anyways because it is clearly scripted.
The "women" are vapid, vain, and really awful people. Moreover, the potential best attribute of this show, the beautiful homes in Los Angeles, is merely a backdrop for the empty, superficial lives each of the brokers lives. LA has so much to offer, but this hits in every bad stereotype that there is about it.
