The Whistle in the Dark was just an abundance of fun, exactly what I want from this show. If I want dark drama, I'll watch Silent Witness, if I want pure escapism, this fits the bill.
The Ghost story read out at the beginning set the tone for this instant favourite, the atmosphere, although obviously contrived, was fabulous, the story itself I thought was terrific. It was quite blood thirsty for Father Brown, with a body count to rival an episode of Midsomer Murders.
I liked that it was pretty much a mystery for the Father to solve single handedly, with very little involvement from Mrs McCarthy, Bunty or The Inspector.
One of the best casts I've seen put together on the show, Jemima Rooper and Jeff Rawle are brilliant enough, but add in the wonderful Maggie Steed, and you have a cast many shows would love to assemble.
The supernatural element added to the entertainment, this was huge fun. 9/10
