Have you ever dreamed about being a better version of yourself? With her second film, Coralie Fargeat not only addresses this question but takes aim at ageism and sexism in the entertainment industry with a riotous, dreamlike horror-thriller that ends in a delirious symphony of blood, guts and otherwise undefinable viscera. Imagine David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive fused in a telepod with David Cronenberg’s Dead Ringers, add the unbelievably dynamic pairing of Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley, process it through the ultra-vivid color palette that is Fargeat’s hyper-saturated imagination, sprinkle a bit of J.G. Ballard on top, and you have the perfect breakout genre movie of the year.
If you had “Demi Moore to make a hagsploitation body horror splatter movie” on your 2024 bingo card, you stand to make a fortune, but, come on, it’s not very likely; there’s been nothing in her filmography so far...

Exclusive: Comedian Tom Segura has identified the most promising vehicle yet to showcase his acting chops, as Deadline understands that he’s in talks for multiple roles in Dirty Rotten Bastard, a show biz-centric indie from Ed Helms & Mike Falbo’s Pacific Electric Picture Company.
Helmed by Ryan McNeely and Josh Martin, aka The Director Brothers, the film tells the insane true story of an aspiring filmmaker who is kidnapped by deranged lounge singer Tony Clifton. Initially drawn to document Clifton’s world, he is thrust into a chaotic journey of sex, celebrity, and comedy, blurring the lines between observer and participant, and testing his sanity.
Segura will play legendary avant-garde comedian Andy Kaufman’s larger-than-life comedic persona Clifton, as well as the performer’s friend and longtime collaborator Bob Zmuda.
Zmuda was known to switch off with Kaufman in portraying Clifton, a foul-mouthed lounge singer out of Las Vegas,...

Two and a half years ago, Sony Pictures came out the winner in a bidding war over the film rights to author Riley Sager’s novel Home Before Dark (pick up a copy Here) – which hadn’t even been published yet at the time. Now the project is finally moving forward, as The Hollywood Reporter breaks the news that Creep and There’s Someone Inside Your House director Patrick Brice has signed on to direct the film, working from a screenplay by The Invitation‘s Blair Butler.

Laurie has officially dethroned Nate Jacobs as the most formidable villain on "Euphoria." We meet the high-school teacher turned drug dealer in the HBO show's season two premiere, when Fez does business with her following Mouse's murder. Laurie reveals new layers every time she appears on screen: she became addicted to oxycontin in college after getting injured as an athlete, she fronts Rue $10,000 worth of drugs to sell, and, as we learn in episode three, she's involved in some sort of sex-trafficking ring that she threatens to rope Rue into.
"If you screw me, I'll have you kidnapped and sold to some real sick people. I always find a way to make my money back," she tells Rue in a calm, monotone, nightmare-fueling voice. You definitely don't want to cross her.

Exclusive: Creep franchise filmmaker and HBO Room 104 director Patrick Brice has boarded The Wild at HBO Max and Warner Max, a project he’ll direct and adapt from the Owen Laukkanen young female suspense novel.
The Wild, from Underlined Paperbacks, centers around Dawn. She’s not a bad person – she’s just made some bad choices: wrong guy, wrong friends, wrong everything. But she wasn’t expecting her parents to pay a boatload of money to ship her off to ‘Out of the Wild’, a wilderness boot camp with a bunch of other messed up kids to learn important “life lessons.” Dawn and the other cubs wind up learning a lot, but not what they expect, for what happens in the woods isn’t what their parents planned. Sometimes plans go very wrong. And this is one of those times. Suddenly Dawn is more scared than she’s ever been in her life.

Take a look at new images of actress Demi Moore ("Corporate Animals") in the October 2019 issue of "Harper's Bazaar (Us) magazine, wearing a Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet, plus wardrobe from Armani Prive, Chanel and Valentino Haute Couture, photographed by Mariano Vivanco:
"When you feel sexy or sensuous, you naturally want to open up and give," said Moore, "and I think that comes from being able to receive love and desire.
"Then there's this idea that if you take your clothes off, somehow you must have loose morals.
"But I like to connect to people in the virtual world, exchanging thoughts and ideas, when in the physical world we might never have the opportunity to cross paths.
"I used to think that what scared me was the idea of being abandoned until someone said to me, 'Only children can be abandoned. Adults can't be abandoned because we have a choice'.

Carmen Ejogo (Selma) and Isiah Whitlock Jr. (The Wire) are set as series regulars opposite Bryan Cranston in Your Honor, Showtime’s limited series based on the hot Israeli drama format (Kvodo). The legal thriller hails from Peter Moffat, whose BAFTA-winning Criminal Justice was the basis for HBO’s Emmy-winning limited series The Night Of, and The Good Wife‘s Robert and Michelle King. The series, produced by CBS TV Studios, is slated to go into production this fall in New Orleans.
Written by British TV writer-playwright Moffat, the 10-episode limited series rips through all strata of New Orleans society. Cranston stars as a respected judge whose son is involved in a hit-and-run that leads to a high-stakes game of lies, deceit and impossible choices.
Ejogo will play Lee Delamere, a smart lawyer at a moneyed law firm whose passionate pursuit of justice pulls her back into the New Orleans criminal justice system.

"It's like our own private escape room." Screen Media Films has revealed the first official trailer for a goofy horror comedy film called Corporate Animals, which was a last minute addition to the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The ensemble film played in the Midnight category at the festival, and it's hitting theaters starting next month. From Creep & Creep 2 director Patrick Brice, Corporate Animals is about a group of employees on a "corporate team-building" excursion visiting a cave in New Mexico. When disaster strikes, they end up stuck together inside a cave and, of course, they all go mad. Starring Demi Moore, Ed Helms, Jessica Williams, Karan Soni, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Martha Kelly, Dan Bakkedahl, Calum Worthy, Jennifer Kim, Nasim Pedrad, Frank Bond, and Wendy Meredith. It seems like they were trying to make another Office Space, but this looks especially dumb. Here's hoping it's actually entertaining. Here's the...

Demi Moore has booked a recurring role in Brave New World, the upcoming USA Network drama series from Ucp and Amblin Television based on the Aldous Huxley’s groundbreaking 1932 novel.
Written by David Wiener, Grant Morrison and Brian Taylor, Brave New World imagines a utopian society that has achieved peace and stability through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family and history itself. Alden Eisenreich, Harry Lloyd and Jessica Brown Findlay also star.
Moore will play Linda, the brash, hard-living mother of John the Savage (Ehrenreich).
As citizens of New London, Bernard Marx (Lloyd) and Lenina Crowne (Brown Findlay) have only ever known a rigid social order, a perfect pharmaceutical called Soma, and a culture of instant gratification and ubiquitous sex. Curious to explore life beyond the strictures of their society, the two New Worlders embark on a vacation to the Savage Lands, where they become embroiled in a harrowing and violent rebellion.

Cult British comedy Peep Show is getting another chance at a U.S. adaptation with a script in development at FX. The series, which ran for nine seasons on Channel 4, is getting a gender role reversal with the two leads – played by David Mitchell and Robert Webb in the UK original – set to be played by women.
Portlandia and Superstore writer and co-exec producer Karey Dornetto is writing the adaptation.
It is the latest attempt after Starz attempted a remake in 2016, while Fox took a run at a pilot, starring The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki, in 2005 and Spike gave it a chance in 2008.
Sam Bain, who created the series with Jesse Armstrong (Succession), revealed the development in a self-penned article in The Guardian about diversity. “People sometimes ask if I look at my earlier work differently now – whether my shows would have been better if they had been more diverse.

Exclusive: Patrick Brice, the director behind Creep, The Overnight, and the Demi Moore-starrer Corporate Animals, has been tapped to direct Netflix’s There’s Someone Inside Your House, a film based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Stephanie Perkins. Shazam! screenwriter Henry Gayden penned the adaptation, which is being produced by Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps and James Wan’s Atomic Monster.
Slated to being production this fall, the pic is described as a combination of two different beloved teenage genres: the slashers that came to prominence in the ’80s and ’90s and the character-driven coming of age classics a la John Hughes’ films and American Graffiti.
Levy and Wan are producing alongside 21 Laps’ Dan Cohen and Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear.

Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams might be saying goodbye to 2 Dope Queens after its upcoming second season, but they're doing anything but disappearing. The duo, who vaulted their popular podcast to a series of HBO specials, are bringing the project to an end after its second season for a good reason: they're just too damn busy with their various books, TV writing gigs, and movie roles.
We caught up with Jessica and Phoebe at an HBO brunch in their honor at Sundance, where we also witnessed a panel discussion between the dopest of queens and CNN political commentator Angela Rye. The panel covered everything from hair braiding and beatboxing to Michelle Obama - a former guest on the podcast - whom Jessica said "was very hydrated. Her skin was like mmmmmmm. Like when you bite into candied yams and you're like, 'These are amazing.'"

While Sundance’s genre offerings kept me plenty busy throughout this year’s festival, this writer still had the opportunity to check out a few films that don’t quite fall directly under the umbrella of horror, but I still thought they were definitely worth discussing and were of interest to our readers. Here’s a look at my thoughts on Jennifer Kent’s The Nightingale, Corporate Animals from Patrick Brice, and Mope, which was helmed by first-time feature director Lucas Heyne.
The Nightingale: With her work on The Babadook, Jennifer Kent quickly established herself as one of the most intriguing filmmakers out there, and so many fans have been patiently waiting to see what she’d do next as a director. Her follow-up, The Nightingale, isn’t technically a horror movie per say, but it is what I like to call “genre adjacent,” as it’s just as...

Sundance has added five films to next month’s lineup, including Babak Anvari’s “Wounds.” The writer-director, whose “Under the Shadow” made waves at the festival two years ago, returns to Park City alongside Armie Hammer, Dakota Johnson, and Zazie Beets with a film in which “disturbing and mysterious things begin to happen to a bartender in New Orleans after he picks up a phone left behind at his bar.

Yesterday, the Sundance Film Festival announced the brunt of its 2019 lineup, setting the course for the year of American independent cinema to come. For a small handful of filmmakers, the slate was a dream come true. For many, many others, the news was a crushing disappointment. Several of the projects that IndieWire included in our annual Sundance wish list made the final cut; a huge number of equally tantalizing features did not. And yet, the seemingly monolithic festival is not the end-all be-all that the media (and the movie community as a whole) often makes it out to be. To quote indie veteran Mark Duplass: “Sundance is awesome, but Sundance is not everything.” Just because a movie isn’t privileged to premiere in the thin and rarefied air of Park City doesn’t mean that it’s not worth being excited about — sometimes it just means that it wasn...
