A piece of my heart (En del av mitt hjärta in Swedish) is a Swedish rom-com which looks like your typical Hallmark movie only somehow filmed in Swedish language. Businesswoman Isabella (beautiful, blonde) returns to her native town and runs into her ex-boyfriend Simon (handsome, blonde). Suddenly she realizes she's still in love with him. But Simon loves Molly (sharp, shoves the cake into Isabella's pretty face) and there's Edwin who loves Isabella.
Well...where to start? Some plot twists are really silly. The whole story involving Edwin and his unhealthy relationships with his mother is embarrassing and made me scream. Some actors are too old for their parts. Don't they have young actors in Sweden? Jonas Karlsson is 50 but he plays a 30-something guy. What on earth is it supposed to mean? At least some songs are good, the views of rural Sweden are great and costumes are lavish.

Warning: Spoilers
I had high hopes, but this movie is so bad, you have to be a hard core fan of Ledin to even remotely enjoy the movie.
The storyline is totally transparent from start to end, no room for surpises. The dialogue sounds like a dubbed movie. It is obvious that mist of the actors only did it for the money.

Feels like a beer commercial

Characters with really exaggerated personalities, which might sometimes work, but not when it's everyone. The story is really boring. Six minutes in and you already know what the end is going to be. Lots of great swedish actors, but somehow everyone plays their role like its an low-budget, dubbed teen-movie from 2002. The songs are also awful. Thomas Ledin has a whole catalogue of great songs with great music, but here they added some cheap, bland music to the lyrics. And the singers voices doesn't even remotely resemble the voices of the actors. And in the off-chance that it actually is their real voices, they are drowning with production effects.
This film is a hit!

When you have grown up with Tomas Ledin's music, this film is a hit with skillfully incorporated lines from Ledin's lyrics. The thoughts sometimes bring me to Grease and this feels like a contemporary version of it. I have never analyzed Tomas Ledin's lyrics, but here some fall into place and prove brilliant in their context in the film. A very good selection of actors where Tomas Ledin also appears like Alfred Hitchkock, however, the comparison ends with that ... The film En del av mitt hjärta / A Piece of My Heart made me consistently happy and proud of both Swedish music and film production!
