Ellen DeGeneres is returning to Netflix for her final stand-up special, six years after her last comedy hour, “Relatable.”
The special, which marks her second for Netflix, will arrive later in 2024. It will be produced by Ben Winston and Fulwell73.
In addition to the special, DeGeneres will also kick off a multi-city stand-up tour on June 19 in San Diego.
“To answer the questions everyone is asking me – Yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes, this is my last special. Yes, Portia really is that pretty in real life,” DeGeneres said in a statement.
The comedian and talk show legend is most likely referring to her controversial exit from “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2022, after allegations of a toxic workplace, which included accusations of harassment from executive producers. In light of a BuzzFeed News report and internal investigation from WarnerMedia, DeGeneres took responsibility for the workplace culture and apologized to her staff.

David McGuire, EVP of Programming & Development for Telepictures, subsidiary of Warner Bros. Television Group, is exiting after more than 30 years with the company.
McGuire’s departure is the result of restructuring following Mike Darnell’s departure as Warner Bros. Unscripted Television President.
In his current position, McGuire oversaw all aspects of creative affairs for first-run syndicated series, unscripted series, and digital content developed and produced by Telepictures.
Credited as one of the key architects behind The Ellen DeGeneres Show, McGuire most recently oversaw the launch of The Jennifer Hudson Show. The People’s Choice– and Daytime Emmy–nominated series ranked as the #1 new first-run strip of the 2022–23 season in average weekly reach.
McGuire also forged key partnerships with advertisers for Telepictures’ integration business.
Together with DeGeneres, McGuire helped build The Ellen DeGeneres Show into an Emmy-winning afternoon staple and global brand by combining the strength of traditional media with the emerging power of digital platforms.

Frequent TV show cancellations are starting to change how U.S. viewers decide what to watch. In fact, whether or not the show has concluded has a significant impact on whether people sample it, according to a survey from YouGov.
A quarter of U.S. adults wait for streaming originals’ finale before starting, citing fears over the show’s potential cancellation with an unresolved ending (27%) or because they do not want to wait for the next season after a cliffhanger (24%). Nearly half (48%) of the participants who said they prefer to wait until the series ends before starting it cited a preference for binge-watching shows.
Moreover, the survey showed that nearly half of Americans (46%) sometimes or always wait for the series finale before they even begin watching the show. The 18-to-34-year-old age group was the most likely to agree with that statement, with 25% saying always and 34% saying sometimes.

Exclusive: Ellen DeGeneres’ game show Ellen’s Game of Games is not coming back to NBC.
Deadline understands that the fourth season of the unscripted primetime series will be its last on the network.
The series launched with an eight-episode order in 2017 and its fourth season, which debuted in October 2020 and ran through May 2021, featured 20 episodes.
The family friendly format had previously been a strong performer for the network – tying for fourth among all primetime entertainment programs on broadcast with kids and ranking as primetime’s number one game show in 2019.
However, last year, the show lost a sizeable portion of its audience.
It comes as The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which airs on a number of NBC-owned affiliate stations, is ending later this spring with its 19th season.
DeGeneres served as host and executive producer of Ellen’s Game of Games, which includes supersized versions of the most popular games from the talk show.

NBC has canceled Debris, Deadline confirmed on Thursday, after the fate of the freshman sci-fi detective drama had been up in the air following its May 24 finale that wrapped up a 13-episode run.
It was one of five NBC shows — along with Good Girls, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Manifest and Ellen’s Game of Games — that were left off the network’s list this month of returning series and new shows. NBC unveiled a 2021-2022 fall season lineup that will feature a stack of “Law & Order” series on Thursdays — giving producer Dick Wolf two full nights of shows on the schedule — as the network courts audiences with dependable procedurals and nary a comedy until mid-season.
Thursday nights this fall mark a real turn from the days of the Peacock network’s must-see comedy blocks: Season 23 of “Law & Order: Svu” will be sandwiched by Wolf’s newest addition to the franchise, “Law & Order: For the Defense,” and a second season of Christopher Meloni spinoff “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” Wednesday nights feature Wolf’s “Chicago” lineup: “Chicago Med,” “Chicago Fire,” and “Chicago P.D.”
NBC has also bowed to ratings gravity and opted to produce one cycle of “The Voice” next season, not two.

Ellen DeGeneres told her virtual studio audience that she has long planned to wrap her talk show after completing 19 seasons.

Ellen DeGeneres is ending her long-running daytime talk show, Variety has confirmed.
“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” will officially end after the upcoming 2021-22 season. DeGeneres has hosted the series since 2003, meaning the show will have run for 19 seasons by the time it ends.
The show has been a major fixture of the daytime TV landscape throughout its run and has even inspired a number of spinoffs. Those include shows like “Ellen’s Game of Games,” “The Masked Dancer,” “Family Game Fight” and “Ellen’s Greatest Night of Giveaways.”
The move to end the series is not altogether unsurprising, as DeGeneres’ current contract ends in 2022. There had been rumors when she extended her contract in 2019 that she was planning to end the series at that time, though she ultimately signed for another three years.
Warner Bros., whose Telepictures Productions unit produces the series, has been preparing for DeGeneres’ departure for some time.

Oprah Winfrey’s explosive interview with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle drew a huge audience to CBS this Sunday evening, attracting approximately 17.18 million viewers throughout its two-hour broadcast and a 1.45 rating in the adults, aged 18-49 key demographic.
Compared with last Sunday night’s 78th Golden Globe Awards, which garnered a bleak 6.9 million viewers and a 1.5 rating among the key demo, TV watchers showed up in droves for (technically) ex-British royalty over Hollywood royalty. The sit-down in an estate’s green and flourishing patio, was anything but casual as Oprah showcased the strongest aspects of her journalistic chops and grilled the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with a slew of follow-up questions that led to surprising revelations of what went down behind the scenes in the palace’s walls, per the couple. This was CBS’s most live-streamed event outside of the NFL and Super Bowl Sunday this 2020-2021 season.

Although Monday’s primetime crown winner was ABC’s long-running dating game show “The Bachelor” in Nielsen Live+Same Day adults 18-49 dey demographic rankings, total viewership slipped from the prior week amid a controversy surrounding host Chris Harrison and frontrunner contestant Rachael Kirkconnell over past racist behavior.

Monday’s primetime crown winner among adults ages 18-49 Live+Same Day ratings was, for the seventh week in a row, ABC’s competitive long-running dating show “The Bachelor.” The newest episode of Matt James’ season landed at the top of fast affiliate rankings with a 1.4 rating in the demo and approximately 5.23 million viewers. These numbers are comparable to the rest of the season’s Monday night domination and did not appear to be affected by any of the bad press the ABC franchise has been receiving recently after its host, Chris Harrison, made comments in defense of the frontrunner contestant Rachel Kirkconnell’s past racist behavior.
And, like previous weeks, Fox’s “9-1-1” police procedural duo outdid “The Bachelor’s” overall viewership. A new episode of “9-1-1” at 8 p.m. pulled a 1.0 in the key demo and 6.63 million viewers; a new episode of “9-1-1: Lone Star” at 9 p.m.

9-1-1 Season 4 Episode 5 had the most total viewers of the night, coming in at 6.6 million total viewers and a 1.0 rating in the demo.
The series was down a tenth week-to-week.
9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2 Episode 5 followed with 5.6 million viewers and a 0.8 rating -- on par with its season average.
The biggest show of the night in the demo was, of course, ABC's The Bachelor.
The embattled series had a 1.4 rating and 5.2 million viewers.
The Good Doctor returned from a multi-week hiatus with 4.2 million viewers and a 0.6 rating in the demo -- on par with where it left off.
The CW's All American (0.8 million/0.3 rating) was steady, but Black Lightning (0.4 million/0.1 rating) took a hit in the demo, coming down to a series low.
NBC's Ellen's Game of Games (3.2 million/0.6 rating) and The Wall (2.8 million/0.5 rating) each gained a tenth week to week.

NBC has given a 10-episode order to a U.S. adaptation of “The Wheel,” based on the new U.K. game show that has scored top ratings for the BBC.
Since premiering in November, “The Wheel” has become the BBC’s top-rated game show launch in a decade. The creatives behind the British format, production shingle Hungry McBear and Michael McIntyre (who hosts the U.K. version), will also produce the U.S. edition for NBC, along with Warner Bros. Unscripted Television’s Warner Horizon.
“It’s incredibly rare in this day and age for a new show to become an unqualified smash hit overnight … let alone in the biggest territory in Europe,” said Mike Darnell, President of Warner Bros. Unscripted Television. “We are thrilled to be in business with Hungry McBear and our amazing partners at NBC, who immediately saw ‘The Wheel’s’ potential and picked it up within 24 hours of the pitch.

Like last week, a debut episode of Fox’s “9-1-1” at 8 p.m. was runner-up to “The Bachelor” in Monday’s overnight 18-49 numbers, pulling a 0.9 in the key demo and almost 6.49 million viewers, followed by a new episode of “9-1-1” spinoff “9-1-1: Lone Star”.

Monday was a down night for most shows.
9-1-1 Season 4 Episode 3 had 6.5 million total viewers and a 0.9 rating.
This represents a decline of 10% in total viewers and 25% in the demo to log season lows.
Lone Star followed with its crossover episode.
It had 6 million total viewers and a 0.8 rating -- also down 20% in the demo to mark a season-low.
The response to the crossover has been strong, but the ratings are still down quite a bit.
ABC's The Bachelor remained strong with 5.3 million viewers and a 1.4 rating -- down just a tenth week-to-week.
The reality series may be down this season, but it is still a solid option for ABC.
Over on The CW, All American continued to dip in the ratings, this week garnering 700,000 viewers and a 0.2 rating.
The CW this week officially ordered a backdoor pilot for a crossover that is set to take the character,...
