- The movie opens with a woman in labor. Despite giving a successful birth it dawns on the new mother that the baby isn't crying. Doctors are work frantically just out of her line of sight: they look to be trying to resuscitate the infant. Amid the mother's cries, the new father inches over and confirms with just the anguished look on his face... its a stillborn.
- The subsequent scene has the mother completely wrecked from having the miscarriage. Her actual mental state crackling from pain, to anger, to denial, to a psychotic delusion that someone took her baby. Every emotion aimed solely at her husband who she blames for everything (including the delusions).
