Kevin Smith will write, direct and executive produce the "Sam and Twitch" supernatural detective TV series for BBC America, spinning off characters from comic book creator Todd McFarlane's "Spawn" comic book series:
"They were originally introduced in 'Spawn' and it’s Todd McFarlane's comic book series about these big-city homicide detectives who face a series of super grizzly crimes that are connected to the occult," said BBC America President Sarah Barnett.
The characters were given their own comic book title "Sam and Twitch" (1999), following the two protagonists in a dark and gritty New York City
'Detective Sam Burke' is a an honest, headstrong man with a penchant for foul language and gruff behavior, often accused of police brutality.
'Maximilian Steven Percival "Twitch" Williams III', as the 'brains' of the duo, is a brilliant mathematician, using his knowledge of angles to become an excellent marksman, handling twin pistols with extreme accuracy and efficiency.

The idea is to treat Sam And Twitch like a detective procedural but, as you would expect, horror elements, and "certain character-serialized aspects."
Sam and Twitch were created by Todd McFarlane as supporting players in 1992's Spawn series.
