- Quotes
[Geordie and Sidney are having a drink in the pub. Geordie is teasing Sidney about his relationship with Amanda]
Geordie Keating: You've done the deed, haven't you?
Sidney Chambers: [unconvincingly] No.
Geordie Keating: [grinning] You sly old dog.
Sidney Chambers: Don't do that.
Geordie Keating: So, on a scale of one to abjectly terrible, how are you feeling?
Sidney Chambers: Pretty bloody awful.
Geordie Keating: Why? Because you want to go for Round Two?
[Sidney avoids looking at Geordie]
Geordie Keating: You've already gone for Round Two, Sidney?
Sidney Chambers: How do I do it? How do I reconcile what I've done with what I believe?
Geordie Keating: This is why I don't go to church. Make you feel rotten about everything.
We had Leonard's torment brought to a head this week, as he contemplates something rather bleak, his being gay would have indeed been criminal in the 1950's, his attempts to fit into a 'traditional 50's' life were brilliantly realised by Al Weaver. We also see Geordie's misdemeanours come out.
James Norton continues to be brilliant as Sidney, his emotional showdown with the Archdeacon was incredibly well done. It was also the best storyline for Mrs Maguire, nice to see a more human side to her.
I can't believe how they managed to pack so much into 45 minutes, this was exceptional, the show just gets better and better, it's all leading to a big finale. 9/10
