This Star Trek: Discovery article contains spoilers.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine earned its position as a favorite series among fans because of its more complex take on the franchise’s themes, thrusting the United Federation of Planets into a huge war that tested its moral compass time and again. But even at the height of the Dominion War, DS9 also found time to follow Jake and Nog’s search for a baseball card and to check in on a holographic Rat Pack lounge singer.
But even within that wide range of possibilities, the season three episode “Facets” stands out as an oddball. Written by René Echevarria and directed by Cliff Bole, “Facets” introduced the Zhian’tara ritual, through which Trill hosts find closure for their symbiotes by spreading host personalities to others.

Last week, Max finally released the trailer for their much-anticipated The Batman spin-off series, The Penguin, teeing up its fall release date. Overall, it looks highly reminiscent of Matt Reeves’ film, with the cinematography very much in the Grieg Fraser mode. But what else do we know about The Penguin? More than you may think.
The Penguin is set after The Batman.
The plot of The Penguin is set to follow the title character, once again portrayed by Colin Farrell, as he rises through the ranks of the Gotham City criminal underworld. After the events of The Batman and the flooding of Gotham, including the death of Carmine Falcone, Cobblepot desperately wants to fill the power vacuum. Colin Farrell has also indicated that the film will serve as an origin story for the Penguin, something we have seen twice on screen before in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, played by Danny DeVito.

He is the second actor returning to the series following Deadline’s announcement revealing Natasha Marc will reprise the role of Cherry. Kirkland’s last appearance in Mayor of Kingstown was in the 10th episode of Season 1, however, he played the character in Season 5 of Yellowstone.
Co-created by Oscar nominee Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, Mayor of Kingstown follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.

Only three years before he was trapped in Arizona by a kingdom of tarantulas and a mere five years before he played James T. Kirk in Star Trek‘s first motion picture, William Shatner starred in the low budget thriller Impulse. And thanks to the team at Grindhouse Releasing, the world can finally witness another Shatner joint in all its restored 4k glory.
So does good ole’ Bill play the hero in this one? Uh no, not in the least. We get full on evil demented Shatner in the flesh. He portrays Matt Stone (not to be confused with the talented South Park creator), who is just your typical thumb-sucking, mini cigar chain-smoking, conniving, scheming faux financial investor. His prey are vulnerable and lonely women, who he exploits for their money with delusional promises of fortune, love and monogamous commitment. He’s a sociopath, a psychopath…all kinds of ‘paths.

Bob Lee Swagger remains one of the most badass television characters ever.
The USA Network series, Shooter, was one of the finest, coming at a time when the cable network ran supreme with endless content for everyone's viewing.
With slick action sequences, subterfuge, and adrenaline-pumping thrills, the series, more often than not, was a must-see summer show for three seasons until its unfortunate cancellation.
TV Fanatic followed along with the journey from beginning to end with full coverage in our Shooter Reviews. It is still a perfectly binge-able series that you can stream on Netflix, at least until June 21, when Netflix loses the rights for it.
It bolstered an impressive cast led by none other than Ryan Phillippe. But where is the cast now? Let's find out!
Jaina Lee Ortiz - Angela Tio
Ortiz had a small arc during Shooter Season 2, guest-starring as Angela Tio, a sergeant Bob Lee served with during the Marines.

Ten seconds is a long time when the clock you’re setting is ticking down to the end of the world. In January, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists announced that the Doomsday Clock – a symbol for how soon humanity can expect to meet its end as a result of our own unchecked advances – had ticked forward 10 seconds. We’re now only 90 seconds to midnight; the closest the minute hand has ever come to its final destination since the clock was unveiled in 1947.
It was news that arrived with stony faces and straight shoulders. While for some, the doomsday concept is dated by its associations with Cold War hysteria, the events apparently nudging humanity closer to its end – climate crisis, Covid, war in Ukraine – are anything but antiquated. And for those with an eye on preservation, the announcement has only served to steel their efforts.

Matt Reeves may be planning his Batman film saga as a trilogy, but that doesn't mean we'll only be seeing his take on Gotham City inside those films. Spin-off films and TV series are in the works, which will highlight all the villains who make up Batman's rogues gallery; the Scarecrow, Clayface, and Professor Pyg have been mentioned as potential stars.
The spin-off furthest along in production stars Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin. Farrell had a supporting role in "The Batman," with Penguin (or "Oz" as he prefers) being the right-hand of crime lord Carmine Falcone (John Turturro). With his boss out of the picture, Oz is looking to become Gotham's new kingpin. The Penguin's club, the Iceberg Lounge, was also featured as a recurring setting in "The Batman," albeit reimagined from a high-class crib into an underground rave spot.

Last year, Karina Longworth’s hit Hollywood podcast You Must Remember This looked at the Erotic ‘80s. Longworth is now delving into the same topic of sex in film and TV across the 1990s for the next season.
The show, which is presented in partnership with Audacy’s Cadence13, returns on March 28 with its 21-episode season.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Hollywood movies explored the sexual lives, mores and fantasies of adults with degrees of candor, realism and imagination not seen before or since. While Erotic 80s episodes covered the theme one year at a time, the super-sized Erotic 90s breaks down themes from Lolitas and sex symbols to gender politics and more.
The first episode covers the disastrous rollout of Nc-17 and the evolving state of both porn and feminism at the dawn of the ’90s, with topics including David Lynch, Harvey Weinstein, “pro-porn” feminism, “the new morality,” video stores,...

Set primarily in Glasgow, the drama follows the O’Neills, police detective Chris and his wife, former undercover officer Michelle, whose teenage daughter goes missing. Chris is finds out that fatal mistakes were covered-up in the disappearance of another local girl and revisiting the case, he uncovers a series of errors, corruption and unbridled ambition. Michelle takes matters into her own hands using her skills. Meanwhile, the daughter of the justice minister is suddenly kidnapped, just as the minister is on the cusp of achieving an election victory.
It is created by BAFTA Scotland-winning screenwriter Gregory Burke (“’71”) and Clare McQuillan (“Impulse”) will also write on the series.
Burke said: “At its heart, ‘Six Four’ is a human story about two people under incredible amounts of pressure, who both choose to try and address their pasts.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 3, Episode 14 “Impulse Control.”] The latest two 9-1-1: Lone Star episodes have been very emotional for paramedic Captain Tommy Vega (Gina Torres). First, she tries dating, only for her date (Amaury Nolasco’s Morris) to start crying at the table. Then, in “Impulse Control,” she deals with her brother-in-law’s visit. Julius (Nathan Owens) comes to town for his nieces’ birthdays, and it becomes emotional when he and Tommy discuss the fact that he didn’t attend his brother Charles’ (Derek Webster) funeral. He went, he confesses to Tommy, but he couldn’t go inside. The two kiss, then later agree it didn’t happen nor will it again. But he is now staying with her and her daughters while he’s in town. Torres breaks down the episode. I absolutely love how Tommy dealt with Julius with that smile on her face when he showed up at ...

HBO Max is developing a series about The Penguin that will be a spinoff of “The Batman” feature, Variety has learned from sources.
Colin Farrell is set to play the notorious supervillain in “The Batman.” According to sources, Farrell has been approached to star in the spinoff series but no deal is currently in place. Sources also say that Lauren LeFranc is attached to write the script for the project, which is in its very early stages.
The show would supposedly delve into The Penguin’s rise to power in the Gotham criminal underworld. “The Batman” director Matt Reeves and the film’s producer Dylan Clark would executive produce the Penguin series under their 6th & Idaho and Dylan Clark Productions banners respectively. Warner Bros. Television would produce.
Reps for HBO Max declined to comment.

Director Doug Liman likes that there’s so much buzz about space these days and takes a teensy part of the credit after news (broken by Deadline) last year that he plans to shoot a film up there with Tom Cruise in collaboration with Elon Musk’s SpaceX and NASA.
“It’s good. If we can inspire kids to study science. I grew up dreaming about going into space,” said Liman, who also directed Cruise on American Made and Edge of Tomorrow and has helmed hits from Mr. & Mrs. Smith and The Bourne Identity to Go and Swingers. He spoke Tuesday on a sunny roof deck at Spring Studios in downtown Manhattan during a Directors Talk Q&a at the Tribeca Festival.
Most recently, Jeff Bezos’ rocket company Blue Origin was in the news for auctioning off a spot on its first manned spaceflight for $28 million. Bezos and his brother will also ride.

Exclusive: Sarah Desjardins (Riverdale), Kevin Alves (Locke & Key) and Alexa Barajas (The Flash) are set for recurring roles in Showtime’s drama series Yellowjackets. Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci and Tawny Cypress star in the drama series from writers Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Entertainment One and studio-based producer Drew Comins. Production has begun in Vancouver, Canada for a 2021 debut on the network.
Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.

The following contains The Flash spoilers through Season 7, Episode 11.
Good news, The Flash fans: Our long national nightmare that was the Forces of Nature storyline is finally over.
Granted, “Family Matters, Part 2” has many of the same problems as last week’s installment – the nonsensical sibling connection between the various Forces of Nature, the show’s insistence on calling them godlike beings even while treating them like Barry and Iris’s literal children, the general creepiness of Speed Force Nora’s existence, the cringe-y dialogue and awkwardly forced emotion. Let’s not even try to figure out how Barry and friends fought the Speed Force, an anthropomorphized being, inside the Speed Force, a localized place, before making nice and coming together as a family to live in…a cosmic version of Barry’s childhood home.
At least all the multi-colored lightning was really pretty? Hats off to the production team.

The cinematography for “Mank,” “Nomadland,” “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” “News of the World” and “Cherry” has been nominated as the best film work of 2020 by the American Society of Cinematographers, the Asc announced on Wednesday.
The first four of those films were expected to be recognized by the Asc and are thought to be strong contenders for the Oscar for Best Cinematography, but “Cherry” came as a surprise. The Russo brothers film came out in February to withering reviews and had not been considered an awards contender until the Asc included its cinematographer, Newton Thomas Sigel, in its list of nominees.
“Cherry” landed that nomination over a group of films that included “Tenet,” “Minari,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “Judas and the Black Messiah” — and “Da 5 Bloods,” a more high-profile film that was also shot by Sigel.

A former Jag star is closing in on a return to the small screen.
David James Elliot is set to star on Heels, the forthcoming Starz drama toplined by Stephen Amell.
Heels is a story about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals war over their late father’s legacy.
In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel.
But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.
Deadline is reporting that Elliot is on board as Tom Spade, a former wrestler who is Jack (Alexander Ludwig) and Ace's (Amell) father, and husband to Mary McCormack's Carol.

Exclusive: Maggie Kiley is set to direct and executive produce the first two episodes of Peacock’s limited series Dr. Death, starring Jamie Dornan, Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater. Kiley replaces Stephen Frears, who had signed on for the project in January but had to step away due to scheduling conflicts given the shift of production dates due to coronavirus pandemic. Dr. Death, from Ucp, was among a slew of shows whose production was delayed by months amid the pandemic.
Kiley leads an all-female Dr. Death directing team, which also includes Jennifer Morrison, who will direct the third and fourth episodes, and So Yong Kim, who will direct the remaining episodes.
Dr. Death explores the twisted mind of a sociopath and the failures of the system designed to protect the most defenseless among us.

Stanley. Now there’s a name to inspire fear amongst the masses, yes? Well, this was the ‘70s, and wheels turned in the horror world whichever way the road to success was paved. Such is the case with the aforementioned Stanley (1972), a film looking to mooch off the big earnings of 1971’s Willard; but instead of rats, we get snakes. And a whole lot of them.
With Willard leading the charge, the ‘70s had a veritable menagerie of When Animals Attack films, with the films switching gears from smaller critters to big ‘uns following the blowout phenomena of Jaws (’75). But for now, we’ll focus on one of the many creature flicks that slithered through drive-ins the end of May; no good notices to be found, but for those who hung around for the second feature, they were treated to a revenge story with bizarre behavior, colorful characters, and some decent kills.

TV academy voters are faced with a daunting task when they fill out their 2020 Emmy Awards nominations ballot, They have to consider 199 shows for Best Drama Series, which is 35 more than last year. At least they no longer have to winnow their choices down to just 10 favorites. As with last year, they are being told to “Vote for as many achievements in this category that you have seen and feel are worthy of a nomination.”
This year’s Emmys are guaranteed to have a new winner for Best Drama Series with reigning four-time champ “Game of Thrones” no longer on the air. Of its unlucky seven rivals last year, six of them –“Better Call Saul,” “Killing Eve,” “Ozark,” “Pose,” “Succession” and “This Is Us” — are back on the ballot. The seventh, “Bodyguard,” did not air any new episodes during the eligibility period from June 1, 2019 to May 31, 2020.

Cobra Kai is sweeping the leg of exclusivity to YouTube, now set to seek a new platform.
In a surprising development as news remains dry on the long-awaited third season of Cobra Kai, the series—the undisputed showcase scripted attraction of YouTube’s premium subscription service—is exiting the platform, with production company Sony Pictures Television now fielding offers from prospective new platforms, according to Deadline.
YouTube officially ordered Cobra Kai Season 3 back in April 2019 with full intention to host the new frame. However, over a year later, it has since shifted away from scripted television, a move that left Cobra Kai and Liza on Demand as the only active scripted shows on the roster. Thus, while the offer to premiere the reportedly-completed Season 3 was still on the table, YouTube opted not to order Cobra Kai Season 4. Yes, as surreal as it sounds, YouTube Premium essentially canceled its Cobra Kai crown jewel,...

We Summon the Darkness has already started releasing on home entertainment formats. The film, from director Marc Meyers (My Friend Dahmer) and writer Alan Trezza, focuses on a killing spree, taking part across the U.S. Midwest. However, those behind this mayhem might not be who you expect. We Summon the Darkness has a well-rounded cast and includes: Maddie Hasson ("Impulse"), Alexandra Daddario (Baywatch), Keean Johnson and Johnny Knoxville. The film is slated to release today, in the United Kingdom and in a few formats this June, in the U.S. The official trailer, from Lionsgate, is a bit revealing. It not only shows the killers, but the clip also shows: plot points, killing methods and parts of the ending. If you are a horror fan and intend to pick this title up, you might want to avoid watching any promotional material. Signature Entertainment is handling the UK release. Signature...
