A little over sixteen minutes into the film, the words Francis speaks when first beginning to preach in the streets pretty much quote the so-called "Prayer of Saint Francis," and this famous prayer has long been attributed to Francis. However, no proof exists that Francis ever composed or spoke these words. Its origin has been traced back to 1912 when it was first printed in a Catholic magazine in France. It presumably became associated with Francis because of characterizing in prayer form the basic spiritual values that he embraced.
