A fairly interesting and easy to watch bio of Jean Batten, New Zealand's greatest female flier. This made for TV movie is mostly concerned with her quest to set new long distance flying records and a brief peep into her love life.

Amelia Earhart may hold the title of the most legendary female flier of the first half of the 20th Century but Jean Batten holds the record of the most accomplished female flier of the first half of the 20th Century. I believe the story stated she held the world record for solo female flier for over 30 years.

As for the movie, there are lots of airborne scenes and beautiful photography. The story itself can be described as mostly surface and sentimental. The actress Kate Elliott captures the beauty of Jean Batten and her drive to fly under forbidding circumstance.

As a made for TV movie it's a fine source for an evenings entertainment!
