Director Nathan Thomas Milliner and Composer Lito Velasco previously collaborated on another "Nightmare" project. It was the published version of Never Sleep Again: The Nightmare Legacy.
The yellow weaning cup seen in the glove building scene can be seen in the original film in Freddy's lair on a nightstand in the boiler room. Several objects in the scene are also found in the original film.
The dead animal in the film was actually a big giant stuffed bunny rabbit that belonged to make-up artist Lisa Duvall before she cut it up and turned it into a gory prop.
The film is inspired mostly from the original film written and directed by Wes Craven but several pieces were influenced by the short story, "The Life and Death of Freddy Krueger" which was written by Jeffrey Cooper for the novelizations of the films.
The entire interrogation scene in the film was shot in one 12-hour day.
