It's All Hallows' Eve in the World Wrestling Federation.
clayface92 March 2020
The show opens with Savio Vega versus Goldust. Dok Hendrix presents the Survivor Series Slam Jam. Barry Horowitz faces Hakushi in a game of Karate Fighters (yes, really). Marty Jannetty makes short work of Bob Dorgan. Vince McMahon interviews Jim Cornette, Clarence Mason and Davey Boy Smith. The Smoking Gunns shoot down Phil Apollo and some other jobber. Bret Hart cuts a promo on Diesel. Paul Bearer cuts a promo on Mabel. The main event is Razor Ramon defending the Intercontinental Championship against Owen Hart. The main event is good, but the rest of the show is not.

Live from Brandon, Manitoba, Canada

Your hosts are Vince McMahon & Jerry Lawler

This is a special Halloween themed episode of Raw. Jerry Lawler is dressed up as a surgeon, Vince is dressed as a convict.

Savio Vega vs Goldust

I'm not looking forward to this. Goldust wins with a weird pinning combination. As I pretty much expected, it was a pretty bad match. This was shortly after Goldust's debut and he needed the win much more. I disliked Goldust's methodical style because it always takes me out of the match. I was surprised at how over Vega was with the crowd.

It's announced that Diesel vs Bret Hart at Survivor Series for the WWF Title will be no DQ, no countout, and no time limit.

Bret Hart & Hakushi Vs Jerry Lawler & Issac Yankem and Marty Janetty vs The British Bulldog are set for next week.

Marty Janetty vs Joe Dorgan

Janetty wins with a sloppy fistdrop from the top. This was a basic squash match to give Janetty some momentum heading into his match with The British Bulldog next week on Raw.

1/2* (half a star)

Vince McMahon is in the ring with The British Bulldog and Jim Cornette. Cornette is irate that Bret Hart is getting the shot against Diesel instead of The British Bulldog. He says Gorilla manipulated everybody and unfairly gave Bret the shot. He's got an attorney, Clarence Mason to straighten everything out. The British Bulldog says Marty Janetty doesn't belong in the same ring as him and he's gonna use Janetty as a stepping stone to face Diesel. Janetty runs down and attacks Camp Cornette. He thinks about hitting Clarence Mason, but ends up leaving him alone

Thoughts: Cornette is considered one of the best promo men in the business. He's talented, but he tends to overdo it at times and ramble to the point where it gets to be too much. That's exactly what happened here. Marty coming out made the crowd happy, but it was hard to take Marty seriously as a threat in 95.

The Smoking Gunns Vs Phill Apollo & John Rashner

The Gunns win with The Sidewinder (legdrop/sidewalk slam combo off the top) . What we have here is another basic squash match that you'd see on Superstars. Believe me, you aren't missing anything.

Bret says Diesel is a great wrestler and he has nothing but respect for him. The No Holds Barred match at Survivor Series favors him and he'll be the new WWF Champion come Survivor Series.

Intercontinental Championship

Razor Ramon (C) Vs Owen Hart (W/Jim Cornette)

Razor wins by DQ after Yokozuna interferes to stop the Razor's Edge. Yokzuna does a number on Razor after the match. The 123 Kid tries to save Razor, but Yokozuna flattens him with a legdrop. Ahmed Johnson comes out and slams Yokozuna to a huge pop. The Bulldog tries a cheap shot, but Ahmed stands tall as Raw goes off the air. It's such a shame that this match had to end just when it was getting really good. If these two were given enough time, they could produce some classic stuff. The last 5 minutes were filled with great near falls and exciting action. I also enjoyed what happened after the match as well. It was a hot ending to the show

**1/4

Final Thoughts.

This was a mediocre episode of raw for the most part. The main event had its moments, but nothing stands out about the show at all. Ahmed Johnson was loaded with potential at one point, but fitness, durability, and attitude issues hindered him greatly. Overall, this isn't as bad as some of the episodes from 95, but it's still completely skippable.
