In all of Stephen King’s massive catalog, few works are as bleak as his 2010 novella collection Full Dark, No Stars. Rather than supernatural entities, these four dark tales feature human monsters and deal with the horrors that live inside the human heart. Two novellas serve as mirror images of each other, exploring the female response to predatory men. “Big Driver” follows cozy mystery writer Tess Thorne on a mission of revenge against the stranger who raped her and left her for dead. “A Good Marriage” centers Darcy Anderson, a happily married woman faced with a horrifying choice when she discovers her husband’s secret life.
Both novellas were faithfully adapted into feature films in the year 2014 – for better or worse. Premiering on Lifetime, Big Driver tackles King’s rape-revenge story with Maria Bello staring as the vigilante writer and Olympia Dukakis as her literary detective. Ann Dowd and Joan Jett...

“How’s your marriage?”
What a long dark night it’s been on this trip through Stephen King’s 2011 collection Full Dark, No Stars. After traveling back to 1922 and taking a detour through Big Driver, Losers Justin Gerber, Rachel Reeves, and Jenn Adams make a pit stop in Derry for a nasty little tale of schadenfreude and revenge with the third tale of this sordid collection in Fair Extension.
Then, it’s full speed ahead to Castle Rock with the collection’s final novella A Good Marriage. Inspired by the horrific crimes of Btk, King’s story follows a happily married woman who finds a life-altering secret buried in her garage. Topics range from the ethics of True Crime storytelling, the fine line between art and exploitation, and the lies that get us through the day.
Stream the episode below and return next week when the Losers head to Hollywood King.

“How many unsuspected selves could a person have, hidden deep inside? She was beginning to think the number might be infinite.”
As the temperatures continue to drop and the autumn leaves begin to fall, there’s nothing more pleasant than a long, leisurely drive down a picturesque country road. Unless, the driver is Stephen King. Any road trip navigated by the Master of Horror is bound to twist and turn through the darkest recesses of the human heart. After traveling back to the year 1922, The Losers’ Club continues their coverage of King’s disturbing collection Full Dark, No Stars by shining a light on the rape-revenge tale Big Driver.
Tess Thorne loves to drive. After delivering a lunchtime lecture in Chicopee, Massachusetts, the cozy mystery writer avoids the turnpike in favor of a rural detour and uncovers a hellish trap worse than anything within the pages of her Knitting Society novels.

With summer behind us, it’s time to embrace the Fall season ahead. Pumpkins, black cats, and deadly rats. Be sure to keep an eye on your watch as the sun hits that horizon much, much earlier this time of the year. Before you know it: Full Dark, No Stars. Alas, The Losers’ Club has reached the next novellas collection in their journey through Stephen King‘s catalogue.
Released in November 2010, King’s third novellas collection — following 1982’s Different Seasons and 1990’s Four Past Midnight — captures the legendary author at his deadliest. No shit. King is truly the Master of Horror within these four sordid tales of retribution: 1922, Big Driver, Fair Extension, A Good Marriage. These are the stories that never leave the mind.
In the first of three episodes dedicated to Full Dark, No Stars, the Losers dial the clock back to 1922 and return to the familiar rustic landscape of Hemingford Home,...

The latest book from Stephen King, a collection of four novellas titled If It Bleeds, has already yielded three separate movie deals since its publication in May.
According to Deadline, three of the tales in the book — “Mr. Harrigan’s Phone,” “Rat” and “The Life of Chuck” — have been snapped up by three different companies. The title story, meanwhile, seems likely to get an adaptation too, since it stars a character that has already appeared in two different King adaptations.
King has an unusual way of doing business in that he licenses the options to his stories for the sum of one dollar (with more to come later), although he gets certain creative control rights as part of the bargain and the productions must go in front of the cameras within specified time frames. That latter aspect may be a challenge with Covid-19 still hampering a lot of Hollywood productions.

Thomas Jane is no stranger to bringing Stephen King's written works to life onscreen. Having already appeared as David Drayton in The Mist and Henry in Dreamcatcher, Jane will next play Wilfred James, a husband with a dark secret in Netflix's movie adaptation of King's novella 1922.
According to THR, Jane will be joined by Molly Parker as Wilfred's wife, Arlette, in 1922, which is filming in Vancouver with Zak Hilditch (These Final Hours) behind the camera, directing from a script he wrote based on King's haunting tale of family murder and vengeance from beyond the grave. 1922 was published as one of four novellas in King's 2010 story collection, Full Dark, No Stars.
THR reveals that the cast also includes Dylan Schmid, Kaitlyn Bernard, Brian D’Arcy James, and Neal McDonough, with Ross M. Dinerstein on board as a producer.

Lets throw it all out on the table shall we Based on all of the large billboards in La proclaiming the release of last years Big Driver my hopes for greatness (or even slight intrigue to see the piece) were dashed when I saw that it was a Lifetime movie. Now I had never read this story (by Stephen King) knew nothing about the plot or characters so frankly it was only the Lifetime logo which held me at an arms length that and the presence of Maria Bello whom I so greatly disliked in the vastly overrated Prisoners from 2013. Needless to say this was not to be found anywhere in the vicinity of my mustsee radar.

And onward the march continues for Lifetime transitioning from female oriented viewing schedules to the darker side of cinema which we can all love. Earlier this year Lifetime gave us the Christina Ricci vehicle Lizzie Borden Took an Axe. They followed that up with another marquee genre effort Big Driver which was originally penned in short story form from horror maestro Stephen King.

A novella from Stephen King’s 2010 story collection, Full Dark, No Stars, Big Driver is a literary gut punch that takes an unflinching look at an atrocious crime committed on a lonely highway, and the relentless revenge that followed. Lionsgate Home Entertainment will release Big Driver on DVD (plus Digital HD) on January 27th, 2015. Below, we have the official press release with full details and a look at the cover art:

"Scandal" appears to have moved past its dependence on cliffhangers “Scandal” was written around cliffhangers in its first three seasons, but the cliffhangers have now passed on to “How To Get Away with Murder.” As Joshua Alston says of “Scandal,” "It’s no longer a political thriller with heavy-to-a-fault spy genre flourishes, it’s 'Grey’s Anatomy' in the White House. And if that’s indeed what the writers are going for, the absence of a central, hashtag-friendly mystery makes perfect sense. I’ve been suspiciously anticipating this direction, but I’m far less worried than I was. If 'Like Father, Like Daughter' is any indication, that version of Scandal would be well-worth watching, if perhaps not the Twitter fuel it once was.” Plus: “Scandal” Secret Service agent talks about his big role. Leah Remini will sub for Erin Andrews as “Dancing with the Stars' co-host Andrews is...
