I’ll always primarily think of Greg Sestero as the young Andre Toulon from Full Moon‘s 1999 release Retro Puppet Master, but for many movie fans he is best known for playing the role of Mark in director Tommy Wiseau’s “disasterpiece” The Room. After the experience of working on The Room, Sestero wrote a book about the making of the film that was called The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room, the Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made, which served as the basis for the movie The Disaster Artist. Now Sestero has made his feature directorial debut with the horror film Miracle Valley, and Deadline reports that the film is going to be released through the Tubi streaming service on September 16th. With that date just three days away, check out the trailer for Miracle Valley in the embed above to see whether or not this looks like something...

Tagline: "Can We Watch?" They're Inside is a home invasion thriller from first time feature filmmaker John-Paul Panelli. A teaser trailer was released for the film, today. The clip shows a family under attack by a couple of masked strangers. This title has been produced by Derek Dennis Herbert and Andrew Barcello - from the documentary To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story. Yeun Seung-ro has been appointed as CEO of Cgv Mars Entertainment, the Korean-owned company that operates Turkey’s largest cinema chain. He replaces Kwak Dong Won, another veteran of the Cj-cgv group.
The change of personnel may reflect two ongoing battles within the Turkish film industry. Cj-cgv, which bought Mars for some $650 million in 2016. would not explain its reasons, though it did confirm the personnel switch.
Turkish film producers last year took complaints about Cgv Mars to Turkey’s Ministry of Culture. They argued that Cgv Mars was acting unfairly by selling cinema-goers packages that bundled together admission tickets and popcorn. But that Cgv only shared the revenue from the tickets, at a lower nominal price, with producers, according to the Hurriyet newspaper.
After leading film-makers threatened to withdraw their films from cinemas, the producers appear to have won that battle. The Turkish parliament has passed new regulations, in line with the producers’ position,...

Girl Talk is a weekly look at women in film — past, present, and future. This week, we look back on a monumental year, for better or worse.
Ask enough women in Hollywood about being a woman in Hollywood, and eventually a theme emerges: conversation is great, and the acknowledgement of the skewed numbers and lack of equality is essential. It’s a discussion that needs to happen, but won’t it be great when we can stop just talking and put words into action?
It’s a two-pronged dream — that conversation will move past chatter and produce real results, and that those results will create a world where inequality becomes a thing of the past.
But talking has a way of being one-sided and, as it turns out, there needed to be one more step in between the chatter and actually moving things forward. That finally happened in 2017, the year people stopped talking,...

MaryAnn’s quick take… This strained comedy might have been progressive in the 1960s, but today it reeks of an infantilization of women that warrants squashing, not celebrating. I’m “biast” (pro): I’m desperate for stories about women
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
It’s Bridesmaids lite — very, very lite — in the tedious and dated The Wedding Invitation, in which three Los Angeles friends scramble for last-minute dates to the nuptials of a former high-school classmate. The strained comedy here might be progressive and feminist if we were still living in the 1960s, but today it reeks of an infantilization of women that warrants squashing, not celebrating.
It is disappointing to see a movie written and directed by a woman that casts female passive-aggressive idiocy as charmingly kooky.
Lucy (Rainy Kerwin) is so excited to have been invited...

Comedies centred around women who are less than elegant, who can swear as well as any sailor, or whose ineptitude in matters of the heart and the body are gaining more traction these days (see Bridesmaids and Rough Night). Rainy Kerwin's feature film debut The Wedding Invitation is a cross between one of these and the more traditional so-called 'chick flick': a romantic comedy with plenty of gaffs and farcical moments, along with highlights of female friendship. While not groundbreaking or as funny as it could be, it's entertaining enough without going (too) far into cliche. Lucy (Rainy Kerwin) is not having a good day: her boyfriend has dumped her, and because he's her boss, he's also fired her when she's on the verge of...

Exclusive: Sean Patrick Flanery, Anne Archer also star in Trafficked.
Red Sea Media has kicked off talks with international buyers here on Trafficked starring Ashley Judd [pictured], Elisabeth Röhm, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Anne Archer.
The film chronicles the fate of three girls from the Us, Nigeria and India who attempt to escape a Texas brothel. Will Wallace directs from the screenplay by Siddharth Kara, and Conroy Kanter, Kara and Vicente Aldape served as producers. Frank Mayor is executive producer.
“Trafficked is a character-driven thriller, which will move its audiences and bring awareness to the campaign to stop human trafficking and help its victims,” Conroy said.
“This is a poignant film,” Red Sea founder Roman Kopelevich said. “It’s important, with the world sex trade impacting girls from remote villages to the doorsteps of our neighborhoods. Anyone with a daughter or a sister should be concerned with this epidemic, which is made easier via the internet and other...
