Featured review
Documentary about a country that now seems to have all but disappeared.
As I remember this series it was a documentary about Britain and British Culture in 1970, but the content was generally set in a past England of long hot summers, rural life etc. the opening sequence was of a wake of water running into a bank of rushes. Always reminded me of Norfolk Broads. The accompanying music was beautiful, as I remember. It was this that kicked off my love of the history of everyday peoples lives in England. I'm probably wrong but, again , as I remember, the basis of the documentary was set in England rather than the whole of Britain. I have been trying to find another reference to this series but have never turned up anything. Surely somebody has a copy of something, somewhere. Seeing it again would be wonderful.
