With her patron, the Cardinal, dead this episode re-introduces Milady De Winter as a high ranking member of a gang of kidnappers. In all her other appearances thus far she has worn a ribbon around her neck to hide the scar from the hangman's rope. In this episode she wears nothing around her neck. When she finds the King's ring in a bag of loot, there may be a hint of a visible scar. In other scenes, nothing! Even when she begins her seduction of King Louis. When she kisses him there is a close-up of her with no visible scar. When the other Musketeers come to the rescue, there is discussion of the Lady's crimes. A scar would have been immediate proof of this, but the King dismisses the issue. Then, two episodes later, in Emilie, it's a big thing again. She is now the King's mistress and he asks her about the ribbon she now wears, which she demurely declines to remove. And, a little later she is attacked in the hall by Rochefort, who pulls the ribbon off, exposing a visible scar and thus discovering her secret.
