The group also includes Olympic gold medalist Dominique Dawes, former Walgreens and Sam’s Club CEO Rosalind Brewer and venture capitalist Rashaun Williams. The NFL owners approved the new partners at a league meeting in Nashville Tuesday.

Tiffany Haddish has addressed a viral moment from her stand-up performance at this weekend’s Netflix Is a Joke Festival, where she called out the protests happening on college campuses against the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
When speaking to TMZ in a video on Monday, Haddish acknowledged the response to her comments and said, “I think if they are going to protest for one place they should protest for all the places that are having genocide happening. How many Black people got to die before we can get a protest? … If you want to protest? Protest. But if you really want to be effective and make change, go up to the legislation office, go up to your Senator, call your council. Go to Congress. [Go to the people] who make change … it would be way more effective.”

Tiffany Haddish opened a fake Instagram account to track down her online trolls and sometimes call them on the phone, the comedian said this week.
In a new profile with the Los Angeles Times, Haddish said she faces intense Internet bullying, which worsened after the since-dropped 2022 legal complaint alleging that Haddish and comedian Aries Spears had “groomed” two anonymous people.
Haddish began by blocking key terms on Instagram to avoid the hatred, including “setback,” “pedo” and “not funny.” When death threats continued, she hired a digital forensics analyst to research where they were coming from and discovered that three-quarters of the messages were from bots in Malaysia and Iran.
Since then, she has also created a fake Instagram alias under the name Sarah, which she uses to collect the personal information of her non-robot online bullies.

The 44-year-old Girls Trip star opened up to the Los Angeles Times about hateful comments on her page, especially in the last year.
During the conversation, Tiffany said that online bullying got so negative over the last year that she hired a digital forensics analyst amid death threats, who found 75% of these threats were “created by robots in Malaysia and Iran.”
Keep reading to find out more…
Part of the hate came from a lawsuit filed against her in 2022 that claimed she groomed a fellow comedian, which she denied. The case was later dismissed. However, she continued to experience bullying afterward.
She says she created an account on Instagram under the name “Sarah.”

It’s season finale time for networks, but Netflix, naturally, still has plenty of brand new TV and shows coming in May.
Jeff Daniels makes his TV return in the David E. Kelley series “A Man in Full.” That six-episode series is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Tom Wolfe. Per a press release: “When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace.” The series will also star Tom Pelphrey, Diane Lane, Lucy Liu, William Jackson Harper, Aml Ameen, Sarah Jones, Jon Michael Hill and Chanté Adams.
Additionally, comedy fans can get excited for a new special series from John Mulaney. The comedian is hosting a multi-night event, “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA,” that looks to be part interview show and part man-on-the-street hijinks.

Roger Ebert’s Film Festival, also known as Ebertfest, is celebrating its 25th anniversary by hosting screenings of Bob Fosse’s most polarizing film and one of Malcolm D. Lee’s most beloved movies.
The annual celebration of movies, which is named for the famous critic, will run April 17 to April 20 at the historic Virginia Theatre in Champaign, Ill. It will kick off with an opening night screening of Fosse’s “Star 80,” a look at the life and brutal murder of Playboy model Dorothy Stratten that divided reviewers when it opened in 1983, with some seeing it as as exploitative and others believing it was a masterpiece. Ebert was certainly in the latter camp, praising the film with a glowing four-star review, calling it “an important movie…Devastating, violent, hopeless, and important, because it holds a mirror up to a part of the world we live in, and helps us see it more clearly.

Warner Bros. is starting the new year off strong by partnering with some of Hollywood’s most sought-after talent for film projects worth getting excited about. After promoting its partnership with Tom Cruise for original and franchise-related films, WB announced a union with Paul Thomas Anderson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Regina Hall for an untitled film by Anderson.
Cameras on Anderson’s untitled film start rolling early this year in California, with the filmmaker directing, writing the script, and producing alongside Sara Murphy. Details about the plot remain a mystery. However, Deadline‘s exclusive report says the project includes a contemporary setting and is the “most commercial” endeavor Anderson has put their hands on. Powered by a commensurate budget, the untitled film results from a relationship that Warner Bros Picture Group co-chair/CEOs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy forged while making Anderson’s Licorice Pizza.

Paul Thomas Anderson has assembled an all-star cast for his next movie, which will likely be the most expensive of his career.
Oscar winners Leonardo DiCaprio, long rumored to be in the movie, and Sean Penn, who recently popped up in Anderson’s “Licorice Pizza,” will appear in the untitled film. They join Regina Hall, the “Girls Trip” and “The Hate U Give” standout. Production on the film, which Warner Bros. will produce, is set to start this month in California, the state where nearly all of Anderson’s movies have unfolded. The new Anderson project has a contemporary setting and will be an ensemble piece, according to a source with knowledge of the production.

Regina Hall came down with pneumonia while shooting Girls Trip, the irreverent 2017 comedy from Will Packer, a savant who repeatedly has shown an obdurate Hollywood that Black movies can mint money at the box office. Hall recalls Packer’s superpower: persuading anyone, be they filmmakers, studio execs or, in this case, his star, to do what needs to be done. “I came to work, they tested me, and I had a fever. Will said he would rearrange the entire schedule so we could shoot my part first: ‘If you can just get through this scene for me, you won’t have to do anything else,’ ” she says. “I did get through it, and he made sure I had everything I needed to heal.”

To say it’s been a strange, turbulent year might be a bit of an understatement. Historically, 2023 marks the year of the dual strikes by WGA and SAG-AFTRA, the first time in over 60 years that Hollywood writers and actors went on strike at the same time. While both fought for better working conditions and deservedly won, the work stoppage no doubt plays a large role in the theatrical slate both this year and at least into the next. Through it all, horror continues to thrive. Box office records were shattered and indie darlings and international gems continue to surprise audiences. Of course, it’s in the most turbulent times where horror thrives most; audiences turn to horror for catharsis or release from real world anxieties and fears.
That reflects in 2023’s horror offerings, which has given everything from unexpected lo-fi indie hits like Skinamarink and Screambox’s can’t-miss The Outwaters...

Oscar season begins this week in the Big Apple.
The New York Film Critics Circle will be the first major group of film journalists to unveil its winners on Nov. 30. And its selections should provide an important look at which films are viable contenders for big awards. After all, there’s been plenty of prognosticating about the movies that are generating the most heat with Oscar voters and other awards bodies. But those predictions are taking place before much hardware has actually been handed out.
Unlike previous years, where NYFCC members might not yet have seen a late-breaking contender or two (as was the case last year with “Avatar: The Way of Water”), this time there aren’t many unknown entities to factor in. Every major December release, including “The Iron Claw” and “The Color Purple,” has screened for voters. So the NYFCC honors won’t come with an asterisk.
