After the events that unfolded in season one of the hit Netflix/Marvel series “Luke Cage” we were a bit unsure of just where season two would pick up for Harlem’s hero Luke Cage, as he was certainly dealing with his new found fame on the streets and wrestling with the idea of being a super hero overall.
Deep down Luke Cage truly wants to be a normal guy, however his bulletproof skin and extreme strength certainly forced him almost unwillingly into the spotlight. In season two we find Luke Cage dealing with an increasing need to protect his beloved Harlem, while also coming to the realization that despite his abilities he doesn’t always have the ability to save everyone, especially those that do not want to be saved.

Two of Europe’s most energetic high-end series producers, Spain’s Mediapro and France’s Federation Entertainment, are teaming with director Jaume Collet Serra to produce an English-language crime drama set in Ibiza.
The project marks a move into series by Collet Serra and his L.A.-based Ombra Films. Collet Serra’s movies, including Liam Neeson thrillers “Unknown,” “Non-Stop” and “The Commuter,” have earned more than $800 million worldwide and made him one of Europe’s most successful L.A.-based movie directors.
Ryan Engle, a writer on “Non-Stop,” Collet Serra’s biggest hit to date with $222.8 million in global revenue, is writing the new eight-episode drama. It will start shooting next year. Engle’s recent writing credits include Dwayne Johnson-starrer “Rampage” for Warner Bros. and the upcoming “Cowboy Ninja Viking,” with Chris Pratt, for Universal.
The new series centers on a young woman’s disappearance on the party island of Ibiza.

ExtinctionThe Frames of Representation (FoR) film festival, celebrating its third edition this year at the end of April at London’s Institute for Contemporary Art, is chiefly concerned in showcasing new works of independent cinema that operate within a field of seeming polarities: between fiction and non-fiction, the real and the imagined, the periphery and the center. They are films that exist at the edges of documentary and fiction—that murky territory where one form bleeds into the other, thus opening up spaces that are both aesthetic and political by posing questions about the practices of representation. This year the festival is framed by its theme ‘Landscape,’ a fruitful topic capable of activating multiple meanings and for being perennially relevant: after all, we all live bounded by landscapes. They are the air we breathe, the houses we live in, the neighborhoods, cities and countries we call home. Landscape, in this sense,...

With a title like Extinction, you can pretty much guess what Miguel Ángel Vivas's new film, his English language debut, is about: the end of humanity. In this case, it's the story of the last three survivors of a zombie apocalypse.
Matthew Fox and Jeffrey Donovan star as Patrick and Jack respectively, two men surviving on the outskirts of a big city. They're so far off the beaten bath that even the monsters that prowl the cityscape seem to have forgotten about them. Patrick still makes daily outings into the city with his trusty dog to scavenge but Jack… he's more cautious. He's got a daughter who depends on him so he only goes out when absolutely necessary. And never mind taking anything that his neighbour Patrick might offer. The men don't talk and over the cou [Continued ...]...

Extinction
Written by Miguel Ángel Vivas and Alberto Marini
Directed by Miguel Ángel Vivas
Spain/Hungary, 2015
Some films just can’t stick to their strengths. There are some good jump scares inside Extinction, the post-apocalyptic zombie film from Spanish director Miguel Ángel Vivas, adapted from a novel by his countrymen Juan de Dios Garduño, but Vivas (who co-wrote the script with Alberto Marini) is too keen to turn his film into a melodrama to focus on the fright. The result is a plodding zombie drama with too much tonal inconsistency to succeed as either a character study or a terrifying gorefest.
In fact, a majority of the scares are in the prelude, which at least serves the function of getting Extinction off to a promising start. In a frenetic sequences dominated by handheld shots and dizzyingly quick cuts, Vivas gives the audience a hint of the world which defines his...

I figured if most zombie movies are going to repeat themselves I might do so as well - the genre, such as it is, is pretty tired. More so than other subgenres of the horror field, things are usually grand and epic shoot-em-ups (replacing the Western's traditional, unreflected-upon slaughter of Native Americans with the mowing down of the hordes of undead), tonge-in-cheek comedies, or attempts to do something new and interesting with the shtick. In fairness to Extinction, writer/director Miguel Ángel Vivas (2010's Kidnapped) is at least attempting something unique. Along with writers Alberto Marini, and based on a book by Juan de Dios Garduño, the concept takes a siege film, a family drama, an outbreak scare, and a film about self-sacrifice, and mashes it...

The forthcoming horror movie creates an alternate future where a virus turns most of the human population in mindless and starving zombies.
A group of survivors find a small town which they believe is free of the zombies, only to discover that the creatures have just adapted to their new environment.
Extinction director Miguel Ángel Vivas previously made waves with the 2010 Spanish thriller Kidnapped.

Extinction will open this summer in the Us.

A trailer for Extinction has been released. This post-apocalyptic feature focuses on a worldwide infection and the few survivors who remain. Extinction stars Matthew Fox ("Lost"), Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice), Quinn McGolgan and Valeria Vereau. In the trailer, a snowy refuge remains safe for only so long. Fans of Pa, or of horror are invited to take a look below. Events take place nine years after an infection. Rabid creatures roam the lands, but there is some light in the darkness. Patrick (Fox), Jack (Donovan) and Lu find peace, in the small town of Harmony. But then, the infection comes knocking. The film is reminiscent of another, The Colony (2013). Both films take place in a snowy clime, which is just as threatening as the creatures. As well, both films are set in a peaceful eye of the storm, a refuge in a dangerous environment. However, there is no safety in horror,...
