Director Jim DeVault placed a set of books in one scene, as an inside joke, since all of the books were authored by him. As an additional inside, one of the books is his novel, "Darling Emily," for which Camille Benton modeled for the cover. At the photo shoot, he was so impressed by her talent that decided to cast her in the wraparounds that tie the segments together in the film. He re-wrote the entire wraparound segments specifically for her.
Though production began in 2015, it was not completed until 2018. The first segment, "The Eternity Stone," was shot in October of 2015, and the wraparounds which frame the segments was shot in January of 2016. Two more segments were completed by summer of that year, but director Jim DeVault put it on hiatus when he stopped to direct Azteq vs the Prowler (2017). The Last Revenants (2017) and Meathook Massacre 3: First Hunt (2017) followed after. By the time production could resume on Stories in the Night (2018), it was late in 2017. The final segments were shot in January 2018.
