I enjoyed very much this excursion in the Périgord: beautiful landscapes and nice encounters.
There are some interesting aspects of this region: the 4 stars camping site "Sur les Plages" near Vitrac (the manager Anne and the seasonal worker Matthieu and Manon, the Dordogne river, the swimming pool, the English, Dutch and French vacationers and the karakoe moment), the Périgord truffles ( Edouard and Carole Aynaud at Péchalifour, how to look for truffles-the truffle dogs-, the finnding of a summer truffle, the cooking workshop and the tasting of truffles), the duck farm and the guesthouse of the Gonzales family ( the breeding of ducks and the making of duck products-magret de canard and foie gras-, the lodging in the gypsy caravan and wooden cabins), the Occitan language ( the female singers group "La Mal Coiffée", the "Félibrée" festival at Belvès, Martial Peyrouni and his Occitan spoken radio program, the accordionists and the folk dances, the concert in Occitan language), the Château des Milandes ( the actual owner Angélique de Saint-Exupéry,the stay of Joséphine Baker from 1937 to 1968-the adoption of 12 children, Akio Bouillon-Baker visiting where he lived as child-, now the restoration of the roof and the making of new gardens) ,the Cave and the Alaskan shamans (Hubert de Commarque, the parietal art-a horse painting- in the cave under the castle, the story of the restoration of the castle) and the prehistorical archeological site of Castel Merle (the archaelogists Randall White and Romain Mensan, the looking for silex and bones).
I enjoyed the encounters of Sophie with the helicopter pilot Jean Max, with with Katia Veyret at Sarlat, with Alain Frances at the "Gouffre de Proumeyssac, with Pierre Chasmoukine at Gorodka, with BernardColombie and Muriel Mussard at La Roque-Gagéac, with Jean-Marc Audit at the Cabanes du Breuil, with the guide Philippe Colomy and the gold digger Alain Viguier at the Vézère river, with Adeline and Firmin Boudy at Montignac, with the guard Bruno Desplat at the Lascaux Cave, with Yves Martin and Francis Ringenbach at Lascaux 2 ; nice encounters with very kind French men and women.
