Anne Hathaway is offering fans the real skinny on her weight gain — and attempting to preemptively shut down the fat-shamers in the process.
“Havoc” actress Hathaway took to Instagram on Thursday to post a video of herself working out — and to explain that she’s packing on pounds for professional reasons.
“I am gaining weight for a movie role and it is going well,” Hathaway wrote. “To all the people who are going to fat shame me in the upcoming months, it’s not me, it’s you. Peace xx.”

Hathaway added that she wanted to use the Queen classic “Fat Bottomed Girls” as a soundtrack for the video, but was unable to do so due to copyright issues.
Hathaway didn’t elaborate on which role she’s gaining weight for, though according to the actress’ IMDb page her upcoming projects include “The Lifeboat,” about “a young woman on trial for murder, recounts the tale of how she survived a shipwreck at sea in a lifeboat that initially carried too many people.” So … cannibalism, maybe?

In its opening act, Nacho Vigolando’s newest genre-subverting feature, “Colossal,” plays like the world’s most unexpected “The Devil Wears Prada” sequel. Imagine if Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs didn’t have that last-act change of heart, compelling her to reject the empty offerings of Miranda Priestly, and instead stayed in Paris with her steely-eyed mentor and clawed her way to the top of the fashion journalism heap, one stiletto-bolstered step at a time. Hathaway’s character in “Colossal,” a burnout alcoholic writer named Gloria, could be Andy just a few years on: fabulous, broke, exceedingly wasted.
That’s where “Colossal” starts. That’s hardly where it ends.
Vigolando’s film introduces us to Gloria at her lowest ebb, unveiling an anti-heroine for the ages (and also the kind of “strong female character” that so many Hollywood movies tend to lack) and then twists her resurrection story into some mighty unexpected shapes.

Joe Wright is understood to be in talks to direct The Lifeboat starring Anne Hathaway.
The actress has been linked to the project as a producer since 2013, but it appears it may be a step closer to starting procution with a director lined up according to Empire.
The Lifeboat is an adaption of Charlotte Rogan's historical novel, which Cast Away writer William Broyles Jr. is working on.
It follows the troubles of Grace Winter, a woman standing trial for murder in 1914 who has survived the sinking of a transatlantic liner (wonder where that idea came from?).
Grace and her husband find themselves in a boat which is too full (they always are) and the survivors start scheming on removing some of them.
Grace's trial then sees her giving her testimony on what followed - but it's not clear if Grace was a part of the mini-mutiny or if she has been blamed for it.

Joe Wright (Pride and Prejudice) will soon bring us a new world of Peter Pan in Pan, but his next directorial effort will swap a pirate boat for a lifeboat. Anne Hathaway has been busy putting together a new starring role. She’s been a producer on the adaptation of a book called The Lifeboat since at least 2013, but is in the process of locking down a director, with Anna Karenina’s Joe Wright now in talks. William Broyles Jr., who knows a little bit about people stuck in difficult situations after writing Cast Away, is at work on the script. Charlotte Rogan’s historical novel focuses on Grace Winter, a young woman standing trial for murder in 1914. As part of her testimony, Grace recalls how she and her new husband survived the sinking of a transatlantic ship called the Empress and ended up stranded in a lifeboat. Trouble is, there were too many people aboard, and the survivors starting to think about getting rid of one or two of them. Was Grace part of a plot? Or an innocent victim of a whispering campaign?...

Brit director Joe Wright is stepping back into period garb to direct "The Lifeboat," reports Deadline. In this film version of Charlotte Rogan's celebrated debut novel, Anne Hathaway is attached to star as Grace Winter, a young widow on trial for murder and who survives her husband on a sinking ocean liner and ends up marooned on a lifeboat in 1914. The number of people on board leads to a moral question of who stays, and who goes. Focus Features and Working Title acquired rights to the film, which Hathaway is also in talks to produce. "Castaway" scribe William Broyles Jr., fittingly, is writing this script and executive-producing. Working Title's Tim Beva and Eric Fellner — who backed Wright's 2007 Best Picture nominee "Atonement" — and Liza Chasin are producing alongside Film 360. A couple of years ago, fresh off her Oscar win for "Les Miserables," Anne Hathaway signed up to produce and star in "The Lifeboat," an adaptation of the novel by Charlotte Rogan. And then we didn't hear much. But the project is back out on the water with a promising director in tow. Deadline reports that Joe Wright is in talks to helm the picture. William Broyles Jr. ("Apollo 13," "Jarhead," "Flags Of Our Fathers") has adapted the book that tells the story of newlywed Grace Winter, who stands trial for murder in 1914, after surviving the sinking of the transatlantic ship Empress. Here's the book synopsis: Grace Winter, 22, is both a newlywed and a widow. She is also on trial for her life. In the summer of 1914, the elegant ocean liner carrying Grace and her husband Henry across the Atlantic suffers a mysterious explosion. Setting aside his own safety, Henry...

Coming off the back of warm early reviews for Song One out of Sundance, Anne Hathaway is already eyeing potential projects to follow it up, and now she’s in talks to replace Reese Witherspoon in Nancy Meyer’s The Intern.
The workplace comedy already has Robert De Niro on board, with Warner Bros. acquiring the North American rights at the Afm late last year.
The Intern tells of an owner of an Internet company who gets assigned an intern who’s a retiree (De Niro). He becomes a valuable resource and the two develop a relationship.
Hathaway would be taking the lead as the owner of the Internet company.
Witherspoon was on board to star in the lead when it sold at the Afm, but left the project half-way through last month, believed to be due to scheduling conflicts.
The Oscar-winning Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, The Social Network) is producing.
