Decent adaptation of a story written by Dave Eggers.
I appreciate the fact that the appearence of the monster was never shown, adding an effective element of suspense.
The narration was pretty good too, but there were a couple of moments when it felt a little bit intrusive (Particularly on its climax, where it kinda diminished the tension of the scene)
Visually speaking, the animation does its job. Maybe some would find it to be too "Pixar-esque" for this type of story, but I think it was okay. The music gave it an oddly playful, "whimsical" vibe, almost as if this was some sort of fairy tale instead of horror tale.
A pretty solid debut from Richard Hickey. Hope to see another work from him in the future.
