Scott Stapp has just released his new solo album, Higher Power, and with it comes a music video for the moving ballad “If These Walls Could Talk” featuring Dorothy.
The single features the Creed singer and Dorothy trading verses as they sing about battling demons, with poignant lyrics like, “They’ve seen me pick the bottle up and put the bible down/ They’ve heard me crying out more times than I can count.” The song slowly builds into a powerful climax showcasing each singer’s impressive vocal range.
Heavy Consequence recently caught up with Stapp, and he told us, “[Dorothy] is a real powerhouse vocalist. Just in terms of what she’s capable of doing vocally, it just blows my mind. She has such an iconic, big, soulful voice. And it’s so dynamic — she can do so much, from rock to incredible gospel-esque melodies, all the way to having opera training.

Creed are reuniting for a massive tour in 2024, but what about new music? In a new interview, singer Scott Stapp discusses the possibility of the band writing and recording new songs.
“[Guitarist] Mark [Tremonti] and I were together a couple days ago doing something like, some secret thing I can’t share,” Stapp told host Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation. “But we were hanging out for a couple days and as we were hanging out, we just began talking about how we wrote [our 1999 album] Human Clay, and we wrote Human Clay while on the road touring My Own Prison.”
He continued, “And we wrote it at, during soundchecks, 80%, 90% of that record was written on stage during soundcheck. And you know what we’d do? We’d write a song and we’d get it tight and play it within three or four days of writing it, because we didn’t have...

It’s an interesting month ahead on Hulu, as the streamer rolls out some of the series it’s been keeping in its back pocket for the holiday season.
On December 15, the first season of Such Brave Girls will arrive. The sitcom follows a dysfunctional family – and we mean dysfunctional! – that includes real-life sisters Kat Sadler and Lizzie Davidson. British comedian Sadler has previously written for The News Quiz, Hypothetical, and Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable, but this is her first big TV project. “Everything we joke about in the show is from a place of lived experience,” she told Funny Women. “I wish I could say this is a heart-warming show about overcoming trauma, but that would be a lie. It’s about three toxic, damaged egomaniacs manipulating the world and each other for their own personal gain, vengeance and glory…just like in Little Women.” Sounds good!

Creed singer Scott Stapp has unleashed the latest song from his upcoming solo album, Higher Power, set for release on March 15th. The third single from the LP is titled “Black Butterfly,” and can be streamed below.
The new song follows previous singles “What I Deserve” and the title track. The hard-rocking tune is reminiscent of Bush in its initial verses as it leads up to an anthemic chorus and later a Middle Eastern-inspired guitar solo.
“Growth is a challenging process,” said Stapp of the song. “I often write aspirational lyrics about getting to that ‘next level’ – knowing what you’re capable of and rejecting the idea that you’re defined by your mistakes. Overcoming difficulty can lead to increased self-awareness and, in time, wisdom that can lead to helping others going through similar situations.”
As Stapp promotes his forthcoming solo album, he’s also prepping for a reunion tour with Creed.

Scott Stapp has announced his fourth solo album, Higher Power, arriving March 15th via Napalm Records.
The Creed singer also shared the new single “What I Deserve,” which follows up the previously released title track. The new song features guitarist Yiannis Papadopoulos, and touts emotional high and lows, drifting from brooding balladry to heavy, big-chord choruses. The tune comes with a shred solo from Papadopoulos, along with lyrics that ponder the intricacies of a relationship.
“We all want back what we give,” Stapp commented in a press release. “‘What I Deserve’ is about two people understanding who they are individually and coming to a place where they can express exactly what they each want, need, and deserve. The duality in the song is that both sides are expressing the same thing and coming to an understanding of the faults of the other.”

Selena Gomez surprised Coldplay’s Los Angeles audience on Sunday evening with a special performance of their collaboration “Let Somebody Go.” The singer hit the stage a few verses into the song, evoking loud cheers from the crowd after frontman Chris Martin’s expert fake-out.
At the beginning of the song, Martin welcomed two fans — a pair of sisters — to the stage. The younger of the two had brought a fan sign requesting that the song be added to the setlist. “Right now, you two represent the whole audience,” he told them.

Following the news of a Creed reunion, singer Scott Stapp has released a new single, “Higher Power.” The track features Stapp’s characteristic brand of melodic hard rock, with powerful vocals and heavy guitars.
“Life’s mysteries can be unraveled by listening to one’s inner voice,” Stapp said regarding “Higher Power” in a press release. “For me, that means leaning on my faith in God and listening to His voice to guide me through the struggles and darkness. For others, whether it’s through art, nature, science, family, or a combination of all, tapping into a higher power is an individualized process that requires an open mind and a willingness to flow with a force that’s greater than the individual.”
Stapp wrote “Higher Power” with Scott Stevens, who co-produced the track with Marti Fredericksen. The tune was mixed by Chris Baseford and mastered by Ted Jensen.

With the Grammys eligibility period nearing its August 31 deadline, let’s take a fresh look at the contenders for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, which could be even more competitive than Best Pop Solo Performance given all the collaborations that are eligible to make the cut.
This category has numerous contenders who could easily get in. The locks — if you can call anything a lock at the Grammys — seem to be three. First, “Levitating” by Dua Lipa and DaBaby, which is the biggest hit eligible and is a remix of a song off of Lipa’s already-Grammy-winning album “Future Nostalgia“; its only problem might be DaBaby’s recent controversy concerning his homophobic remarks and stigmatizing of HIV/AIDS, which has already cost him a number of gigs but so far hasn’t knocked the remix off the charts.

Clocking in at 10 minutes and keeping with the album’s interstellar theme, “Coloratura” takes a panoramic, multi-suite voyage into the cosmos, with Chris Martin namechecking celestial bodies like Galileo, Oumuamua, and Betelgeuse along his journey to the stars.
“It’s a crazy world, it’s true,” Martin sings in the closing minutes, following a colossal guitar solo that ties the track’s many disparate elements together.

Originally a synth-pop track produced by hitmaker Max Martin, the acoustic version of “Higher Power” is instead built around rich guitar songs and the harmonies between Chris Martin and his backup vocalists. “You’ve got a higher power/Got me singin’ every second, dancing every hour,” they sing during the hymn-like track’s chorus.
The band first premiered the song in May and were joined by French Esa astronaut Thomas Pesquet during the premiere livestream.

It’s been a difficult week for Batwoman, with Ruby Rose surprising us by exiting the role of Kate Kane after just one season. While there have been several reasons floated as to why Rose quit the job, there’s been no shortage of actresses expressing interest in taking over the character. So far, notable names being rumored for joining Batwoman include Stephanie Beatriz, Alaina Huffman and Wallis Day. The latest actress to put herself forward though is Jade Tailor, who is perhaps best known for The Magicians.
Recently, Tailor put together her credentials on Twitter, including her fighting skills and experience with the demands of a television schedule on five seasons of The Magicians. The actress had this to say about why she should be considered for playing Kate Kane:

Hollywood is reeling after news broke on Monday that John Singleton has died at the age of 51. The Oscar-nominated director of “Boyz n the Hood” and “Shaft” suffered a debilitating stroke two weeks ago.
On social media, filmmakers and actors such as Jordan Peele, Regina King, and Robert Townsend responded to reports that Singleton had died, praising the director’s work and reflecting on his many kindnesses. His career took off with “Boyz N the Hood,” a drama set in South Central L.A. that received critical raves and was a major commercial success. Singleton became the first African American and youngest person to ever be nominated for best director, earning his invite to the Oscars at age 24.
Singleton joined the Directors Guild of America in 1990, served three terms as a member of the Western Directors Council and was the co-chair of the African American Steering Committee. DGA president Thomas Schlamme...

“Billionaire Boys Club” isn’t living up to its name.
Vertical Entertainment’s crime drama starring Kevin Spacey, Ansel Elgort, Taron Egerton, and Emma Roberts picked up an anemic $618 when it debuted in 11 theaters across the United States. It reportedly launched with a disastrous $126 on Friday. “Billionaire Boys Club” played in various smaller cities, including the San Fransisco area, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Detroit, New Orleans, the Hartford/New Haven area, Miami and Sarasota, Florida.
James Cox directed the film, which is based on the real-life Billionaire Boys Club that was active in southern California in the ’80s — their get rich quick ponzi scheme collapsed in spectacularly bloody fashion. The film was first released through video on demand on July 17, which likely further depressed box office. However, allegations that Spacey sexually abused multiple people didn’t help matters.
Earlier this summer, Vertical Entertainment put out a statement defending its decision to release the film.

"Well, what if I told you I had a plan? It's the only thing powerful enough to stop what's coming." Magnet Releasing has debuted the first official trailer for a very weird, global-scale indie sci-fi film of sorts titled Higher Power, about a gamma ray that gives a human on Earth some crazy impressive superpowers. This is very hard to describe, you just have to dive into the footage. The official description is fairly vague as well, only explaining that "when the Universe decides what it wants, it's pointless to resist." You'll get a sense of this in the trailer. Starring Ron Eldard as Joe Steadman, who reminds me a lot of a young Jeff Daniels in Dumb & Dumber. The cast includes Jade Tailor, Austin Stowell, Jordan Hinson, Colm Feore, Tom Wright, and Laura Margolis. This actually looks pretty cool, and a bit weird. It's worth a watch, for sure.
