Jennifer Lawrence had her fair share of feuds in the time of her career, but few have rarely been as high profile as her butting heads with Fashion Police alum Joan Rivers. The X-Men alum was so frustrated by their feud, that her public admission of it made the whole feud a lot uglier.

Jennifer Lawrence’s Hunger Games franchise is one of the most iconic film IPs of the 2010s, quietly slipping into the niche that was created by the Harry Potter franchise with a decade’s worth of films and accrued fandom. However, despite being the next step from curses and hexes, the Hunger Games star allegedly unleashed a curse of her own on the set of Hunger Games, and it almost got a crew member grievously injured.
Jennifer Lawrence
A portion of the Hunger Games franchise was shot and filmed in Hawaii, specifically in a location that had a bunch of sacred stones. These rocks were sacred such that it was not okay to sit on them, as it would be considered the same as exposing one’s privates to the deity. However, Lawrence decided to look at the practical side of things rather than the cultural, and it almost cost a crew member his life.

Jennifer Lawrence is known for being a very free-spirited personality. She has an incredible sense of humor which has helped her become an iconic figure in media outside of her career as an actress. Having a reputation for kindness and acceptance, it is extremely surprising to find out that the Oscar-winning actress was spiteful towards Jimmy Fallon after he ruined her plans with Jennifer Lopez.

Earlier this week, we heard that Francis Lawrence, whose previous credits include Constantine, I Am Legend, Water for Elephants, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Parts 1 and 2, Red Sparrow, Slumberland, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, is the latest director to be attached to helm an adaptation of The Long Walk, a Stephen King novel that was published under the Richard Bachman pen name back in 1979. Now The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that The Long Walk is set up at Lionsgate, with Lawrence in “final talks” to direct. So this will be a continuation of the working relationship Lionsgate and Lawrence have had on the Hunger Game films.
Joe Drake of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group provided the following statement: “When you have enjoyed the strong creative collaboration and success that we have had working with Francis, you want to repeat that experience as much as possible.

The Long Walk has new spring in its step as Lionsgate is now behind a big-screen adaptation of the Stephen King book.
Lionsgate has picked up the rights to the 1979 dystopian novel, with Francis Lawrence in final talks to direct. Jt Mollner will pen the script. The move puts Lawrence back in business with Lionsgate, for whom he directed The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, which is currently in theaters and has grossed more than $200 million globally.
Roy Lee is producing Long Walk with Lawrence.
New Line was previously developing the project with director André Øvredal and a script from James Vanderbilt before the rights lapsed in the summer of 2022. Now Lionsgate will begin anew with its own take.

An adaptation of The Long Walk, a Stephen King novel that was published under the Richard Bachman pen name back in 1979, has been trudging through development hell for decades. At one point, the rights were in the hands of Frank Darabont, who made the King adaptations The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Mist. Then the rights passed over to New Line Cinema, where Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark director André Øvredal was hired to direct the film from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt, whose credits include the two most recent Scream movies. While doing the press rounds for his film The Last Voyage of the Demeter earlier this year, Øvredal revealed that he was no longer involved with The Long Walk, and said not making that movie is one of the big regrets of his life. Now we know who has replaced him at the helm: Francis Lawrence.

It's pretty common for actors to be asked to change some part of themselves in order to better fit a role, ranging in severity from wearing prosthetics to cutting hair, and sometimes they're asked to modify themselves a little more drastically. When it came to being cast in "The Hunger Games," producers wanted rising young actor Jennifer Lawrence to change herself in order to look more like their idea of Katniss Everdeen, the movie's hero. She refused, and she had some pretty sound reasons for doing so.
In an interview with SciFiNow from 2013, Lawrence explained that there was one request that was just too much for her to agree to, and that's saying something considering she completely changed her body structure training in archery for these very films. Lawrence is known for really giving her all to roles, learning to skin a squirrel for "Winter's Bone" and training in ballet for "Red Sparrow,...

Adapted from Anthony Doerr’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Netflix’s limited series “All the Light We Cannot See” sets two unlikely kindred spirits on a collision course as World War II begins in France when Germany occupied the country. Shawn Levy directed all four episodes of Steven Knight’s scripts.
Marie-Laure LeBlanc (Aria Mia Loberti) and Werner Pfennig (Louis Hoffman) share curiosity and empathy, which translates across their opposing countries and positions in the war. Werner’s skill for fixing and translating radios leads him to a high position in the Nazi effort to decode secret broadcasts that their targets might send. Marie-Laure herself becomes a broadcaster after her father moves her to her uncle’s home in a small, seaside French town.

At CinemaCon 2023, Sony revealed another look at “No Hard Feelings,” the Gene Stupnitsky-directed romp starring Jennifer Lawrence as a down-on-her-luck Uber driver who takes a gig to “date” a socially awkward high schooler to bring the 19-year-old out of his shell before college. It’s an old-school, R-rated star+concept comedy, something that was in short supply even before Covid sent many such titles to streaming platforms.

“Slumberland” is here.
But instead of putting you to sleep, “Slumberland” will thrill you with its tale of a young girl named Nemo (Marlow Barkley), who, after suffering the tragic loss of her father (Kyle Chandler), starts slipping into a fantasy realm when she dreams. That’s where she teams up with the impish Flip (Jason Momoa) and together they go on a series of daring adventures across various dream realms (including one where everyone is made up of flowers). Based, in part, on the “Little Nemo” comic by Winsor McCay, “Slumberland” is an imaginative and fun-filled romp.
Bringing all of this whimsy to life is director Francis Lawrence, who fully admits that his filmography is mostly full of dystopian stories like “I Am Legend,” three “Hunger Games” movies and Jennifer Lawrence’s very R-rated spy thriller “Red Sparrow.”

He also said he believes this film will stand out among video game adaptations because the game has such weight and gravitas that it should make for a movie that’s unique, beautiful, and entertaining.

The state of live-action family movies right now is dire. Outside of Paul King's masterful "Paddington" duology, you can hardly find great films aimed at children and families that are not animated. I posed the question to some of the other /Film writers about what they thought the best live-action family films were from the last decade, and I got answers like "Dora and the Lost City of Gold" and "Finding 'Ohana." After that, the answers kind of dried up, and the ones they gave weren't exactly full-throated endorsements. I like "Dora" quite a bit, but I wouldn't call it a great film. The best response given was probably "Shazam!," although the superhero nature of that story somewhat sets it apart.

Jennifer Lawrence is sharing her regrets about doing some of her bigger-budget movies like Passengers and the impact her then-agency CAA had on those decisions following her Hunger Games success.
In a new interview with The New York Times promoting her latest film Causeway, the Oscar-winning actress discussed her relationship to fame, acting in Hollywood and why she chose the kind of roles she took on — and that were presented to her — in her 20s.
Citing Causeway as a departure from her past choices and part of a new era of performance for her after a brief hiatus to start her family, Lawrence says she had started to feel more like a “celebrity than an actor” and was “cut off from my creativity, my imagination.”

Justin Haythe, creator of Starz’s latest period drama, “The Serpent Queen,” understands the absurdity of the Medici era. For him, this is a landscape where the simplest cut could outright kill a person and an argument could easily transition into people throwing furniture at each other. “I had not set out to do a royal show or a period show. That’s a very established genre and you have to satisfy this genre, which, hopefully, we have. But I didn’t have an idea how to reinvent it,” Haythe told IndieWire via Zoom.
For Haythe, that reinvention came from opening up the world of French leader Catherine de Medici (Samantha Morton) to characters that have been commonly written out of history. “Anything is fair game if the character is right. All those people exist in history, the kings and the queens. The people who serve them, the people who brought them their horses,...

“The Serpent Queen” is not slithering away from our screens anytime soon: The Starz period drama about the ruthless Catherine de Medici (Samantha Morton) has nabbed an early Season 2 renewal for eight episodes ahead of its Season 1 finale, which will air Oct. 30.
The critically acclaimed series currently holds a 100 critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, in addition to an 87 audience score. Starring two-time Oscar nominee Morton, “The Serpent Queen” is billed as a historical drama with edge, presenting a modernized tale of de Medici who against all odds, became one of the most powerful and longest-serving rulers in French history. The story begins with a 14-year-old, orphaned Catherine who marries into the 16th-century French court and must quickly learn the ropes of loyalty and trust, all while outmaneuvering anyone who underestimates her determination to survive at any cost.

Few movie stars have ascended to Hollywood’s highest heights as fast as Jennifer Lawrence did. After earning an Oscar nomination for her first major film role in “Winter’s Bone,” Lawrence was cast in two of Hollywood’s biggest franchises, playing Mystique in “X-Men: First Class” and Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games.” The latter role turned her into a bona fide superstar and she quickly followed that by winning an Oscar for her performance in David O. Russell’s “Silver Linings Playbook.” From that point on, she was one of Hollywood’s most coveted (and highly compensated) actresses. But according to Lawrence, the success wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
In a conversation at the London Film Festival (via Variety), the actress revealed that her early success and the entertainment industry’s enthusiastic response to it took a serious toll on her. Seeing the value of...

Jennifer Lawrence broke onto the scene as one of the youngest Best Actress nominees ever with “Winter’s Bone” and, just a short time later, became the second-youngest woman to ever win Best Actress thanks to “Silver Linings Playbook.” But despite subsequent Oscar nominations for “American Hustle” and “Joy” and a well-received turn in 2017’s “mother!” Lawrence has spent the last five years keeping a lower profile and starring in either forgettable action pictures like “Red Sparrow” or last year’s ensemble comedy “Don’t Look Up.”
But this year, Lawrence returns to her dramatic roots with “Causeway,” a low-key two-hander with Brian Tyree Henry that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last month to strong reviews for Lawrence and Henry. On Thursday, Apple Original Films and A24 dropped a short trailer for the November release – a moody clip that shows how Lawrence’s character is in the midst of an emotional crisis,...

A sequel to the 2005 supernatural Keanu Reeves film “Constantine” is in the works at Warner Bros., and both Reeves and director Francis Lawrence are expected to return, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Akiva Goldsman is writing the screenplay and will also produce the new film alongside Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella serving as producers.
Lawernce’s directorial debut, which made 230 million worldwide, starred Reeves as an exorcist and demonologist brought in to help prove that the death of a detective’s sibling was not a suicide but something more sinister. The original also starred Rachel Weisz, Djimon Hounsou, Shia Labeouf and Tilda Swinton, and it was based on a comic book series called “Hellblazer” by Jamie Delano and Garth Ennis.

Exclusive: Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix franchise), Isabelle Fuhrman (The Novice) and Liana Liberato (To the Bone) have signed on to star in Justine Bateman’s upcoming feature Face, based on her 2021 bestseller, Face: One Square Foot of Skin.
The film penned by Bateman consists of 14 vignettes, both comedic and dramatic, which look at women’s faces getting older, and why that makes people angry. While much of society appears to assume that women’s faces are somehow broken and need to be fixed, Face reveals some of the many ways in which women, and those around them, allow this idea to take root at all.
Parker will play Tanya, an actress balancing her need to use her face for her job and the pressure to not move it at all, with Moss as Mrs. Foster, a kindergarten teacher whose young students remind her of the magical functionality of the face.

. Despite the quiet strength she brought to the “Hunger Games” franchise, and the outlandish joy she mined from the likes of “mother!” and “Red Sparrow,” a long run of dreadful “X-Men” sequels and over-cranked David O. Russell fiascos have dulled one of America’s brightest young movie stars to the point where it’s become easy to forget how good she can be.
If nothing else, the microscopically small but sincerely moving “Causeway” — which the actress also produced under her Excellent Cadaver banner — offers a strong reminder of what Lawrence can bring to the screen when she’s cast as a recognizable human being as opposed to a mutant shapeshifter or a David O. Russell character.

Jennifer Lawrence, who won the Best Actress Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook in 2012 and followed that with a number of hig- profile movies like The Hunger Games series, American Hustle, Passengers, and mother!, hasn’t been seen on screen in a pure leading role since 2018’s Red Sparrow. Last year, she returned as part of the all-star ensemble in Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up, and now she is finally back in a starring turn in the affecting but comparatively small drama Causeway, which had its world premiere today at the Toronto Film Festival.
As a returning veteran who was wounded in Afghanistan, Lawrence gets a chance to once again turn the volume down and deliver a low-key performance minus any hint of some of the flashier roles she has gotten since receiving her breakout first Oscar nomination in 2010’s Winter’s Bone. After two years of virtual events or limited-capacity premieres, the festival returns in spectacular fashion, with more than 250 films expected to screen during the 10-day event. To break down the musts from the meh, here are nine films we’re dying to see.
“Causeway” (A24/Apple Original Films)
Though Jennifer Lawrence had a juicy supporting role in Adam McKay’s disaster comedy “Don’t Look Up” last year, we have not seen the former Katniss Everdeen in the driver’s seat of a film since the one-two punch of “Mother!” and “Red Sparrow”. She returns in earnest at TIFF with “Causeway,” about a soldier with a traumatic brain injury trying to readjust to normal life.

Back in 2008, it was announced that Gore Verbinski would be directing a film adaptation of the video game BioShock, with John Logan writing the screenplay. Later, Verbinski decided to hand the helm over to Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, but stayed involved as a producer. The movie never made it into production. After years in development hell, BioShock was scrapped by Universal. Now Netflix is working with Vertigo Entertainment and 2K on their own BioShock adaptation, and Deadline is reporting that the film is going to be directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Michael Green! Coincidentally, Michael Green and John Logan were both writers on Alien: Covenant.
Lawrence’s previous directing credits include Constantine, I Am Legend, Water for Elephants, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay (parts 1 and 2), and Red Sparrow.

Starz has unveiled the trailer for the upcoming historical drama “The Serpent Queen” starring Samantha Morton as Catherine de Medici. The wicked new drama series will premiere on Sunday, September 11th.
A historical drama with an edge, “The Serpent Queen” puts a contemporary spin on conventional storytelling to tell the tale of Catherine de Medici’s (Morton) rise to power. In the series premiere, “Medici Bitch,” Catherine’s tale unfolds through flashbacks as she defends her actions and imparts the lessons she’s learned to her new servant confident, Rahima. At 14, the young, orphaned Catherine marries into the 16th-century French court. Despite her commoner status, her uncle Pope Clement, has negotiated a large dowry and a geopolitical alliance in return for the union, and with it comes the expectation of many heirs. However, on her wedding night, Catherine learns that her new husband is in love with Diane de Poitiers,...

"The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen," the comic book from the legendary Alan Moore and artist Kevin O'Neill that was famously turned into an underwhelming blockbuster in 2003, is getting a do-over from Disney's 20th Century Studios. This time, the franchise will get a new shot at life in the streaming world.

A new adaptation of “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen,” based on the Alan Moore graphic novels, is in the works at 20th Century Studios. The project is in early development at the studio, and intended to land on Hulu.
The film will be written by Justin Haythe, who wrote Jennifer Lawrence spy thriller “Red Sparrow.” Kevin O’Neill drew the series which ended after eight graphic novels in 2020. The hope for the new adaptation is to film the original books.
The new incarnation will be extremely faithful to the original graphic novel, which involves famous public domain characters like Allan Quatermain, Mina Harker from Dracula, The Invisible Man, Dr. Henry Jekyll, Fu Manchu, Captain Nemo and Professor Cavor teaming up to thwart a deadly attack on London from the air in Victorian times.

The unmitigated boredom and lackluster unoriginality “All the Old Knives” prides itself on shouldn’t shock anyone. After a long line of dreary espionage flicks — “The 355,” “Red Sparrow,” “Wasp Network,” “Beirut” and so forth — Hollywood, outside of the dependable action franchises like “James Bond” and “Mission Impossible,” has been inconsistent at best, producing spy thrillers that possess an enthralling mix of explosions and romance.

Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most beloved actresses worldwide with box office hits (“The Hunger Games” franchise) and an Academy Award for Best Actress (“Silver Linings Playbook”) under her belt, but she’s not without a few misfires. After scoring her fourth Oscar nomination with “Joy,” the actress went on to star in a string of box office disappointments: Morten Tyldum’s “Passengers,” Darren Aronofsky’s “mother!,” Francis Lawrence’s “Red Sparrow,” and the maligned “X-Men” bomb “Dark Phoenix.” It was after these four misses that Lawrence took an acting break, only now emerging with a new A-list project in the form of Adam McKay’s Netflix comedy “Don’t Look Up.”
“I was not pumping out the quality that I should have,” Lawrence told Vanity Fair about the movies that led to her stepping away from the spotlight. “I just think everybody had gotten sick of me. I’d gotten sick of me.

If you've been looking for a Jennifer Lawrence fix, you're in luck. The star spent the last two years on hiatus, which seems well earned considering the breakneck speed with which she tackled some of the biggest Hollywood projects over the last decade.
In the early 2010s, Lawrence averaged around three films per year. After her rise to superstardom with the "Hunger Games" franchise and winning an Oscar for "Silver Linings Playbook," Lawrence finally slowed down to one film a year with 2017's polarizing "Mother!," 2018's "Red Sparrow," and her return to the role of Mystique for "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" in 2019.

After piloting the “Hunger Games” franchise to more than $2 billion at the worldwide box office, Francis Lawrence is taking on another dystopian text — Philip K. Dick’s novel “Vulcan’s Hammer,” directing and producing the movie with New Republic Pictures and Electric Shepherd Productions.
Lawrence will produce the adaptation under his About:Blank banner alongside veteran producers Brian Oliver and Bradley Fischer of New Republic, Cameron MacConomy from About:Blank and Isa Dick Hackett from Electric Shepherd.
“We’re very pleased to partner with the passionate team at New Republic and thrilled by Francis’s ambitious vision for bringing ‘Vulcan’s Hammer’ to the big screen,” Hackett said in a statement announcing the team up.
Dick’s novel is set following a devastating world war as the 70 nations of Earth form the Unity party and cede global governance to the Vulcan AI system, which algorithmically dictates policies for Unity to carry out.

That was the takeaway from a panel discussion that was held this week during the virtual Key Buyers Event, which takes place online June 8-10.
“Moscow, and Russia in general, is underrated as a production destination,” said Val Kupeev, head of international relations and production service for Bazelevs, which has serviced productions such as Amazon Prime’s “Jack Ryan,” FX series “The Americans,” and Fox’s “Red Sparrow.”
“We have over 200 big and small productions a year, maybe more,” he continued, noting that Bazelevs has the capacity to service two to four largescale studio projects a year, as well as several smaller shoots and numerous commercials. “I’m pretty confident in what we have here.

Director Zhang Yimou returns to theaters this weekend with Cliff Walkers, an espionage thriller set in 1930s China. It’s a change of tone for the director of Shadow, House Of Flying Daggers and Hero, who also helmed Matt Damon-starrer The Great Wall in 2016.
Based on a script by Quan Yongxian, Cliff Walkers opens in pre WWII north east China, where the titles inform us that secret Japanese camps committed heinous crimes against the Chinese. In an aerial shot over the snowy wilderness, four white parachutes appear. Special agents — two men and two women — are landing on a secret mission, codenamed “Utrennya.” The two couples split up for safety, and are met by handlers. But it soon becomes clear that there’s at least one traitor spilling their secrets, so they must fight to evade detection and complete the mission. Over the coming days, the action flits between various groups of communist spies,...
