True to life and vivid
quakepaz17 September 2023
The movie is set in Kyiv, 1998. The story revolves around several teenagers, who are figuring themselves out.

As things go, there's a lot of tension, love, hate, and some violence. As the storyline progresses, we are witnessing the challenges befalling Tonia, a schoolgirl, who just transferred to a new school, as some boys in the class attempt to win her over.

The story shows the difficulties of balancing friendship and romance and navigating through allegiances to different boys in class as well as having them fend her off against a former toxic and abusive boyfriend. We also see how a rabble hazes other classmates for "treason".

All in all, a great and realistic depiction of teenage life in 1998 Ukraine. This could be replicated in many other places, I am sure. A captivating story of a girl who is discovering who she is and fending for herself.

Harsh story about harsh times

It is a very nice film, I applause to the film director and operator - the story, the picture, everything is very high quality and it keeps the thrill through the entire story.

It is a school and life drama about kids, who were left for themselves in a world full of chaos and uncertainty, and poverty. Adults are busy with making a living, or just enduring the uncertainty of the future after Soviet Union collapsed, they simply are not there for the kids. While the amount of cruelty and violence on the raise, starting with schools - you are the part of a tribe, or you are a goner. Kids learn how to live in a bad way making a lot of wrong choices.

So much trauma, this film reveals a lot about the generation.
