A couple of months ago, it was announced that June Diane Raphael, who may be best known for playing the character Brianna Hanson for the 94 episodes that make up the Netflix series Grace and Frankie, which ran for seven seasons, is set to star in a TV series reimagining of the classic sitcom Bewitched for Sony Pictures Television. It has also been revealed (via Deadline) that Raphael has been cast in the mysterious horror project called Weapons, the new film from Barbarian (watch it Here) writer/director Zach Cregger.
Details on the character Raphael will be playing haven’t been revealed, but we do know she’ll be sharing the screen with Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men), Julia Garner (Ozark), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange), Amy Madigan (Antlers), Austin Abrams (Euphoria), and Cary Christopher (Days of Our Lives). Last year, New Line Cinema went all-in on a partnership with Barbarian writer/director Zach Cregger and the film’s producers at BoulderLight Pictures. Filmmaker Zach Cregger’s next film, the thriller “Weapons,” looks like it’s armed and ready to do fire. Yesterday, Alden Ehrenreich joined the cast, which already includes Josh Brolin and Julia Garner, indicating how fast Cregger shot to the A-list of directors. Previously, Cregger had been a member of the comedy troupe “The Whitest Kids U’ Know,” an actor in sitcoms, and had directed one feature, 2009’s comedy, “Miss March,” not exactly known as an auteur-like filmmaker.

While Hollywood has several incredible horror features already, a yet-to-be-released horror movie promises no less than a thrilling horror experience by taping into the essence of Tom Cruise’s one of the most iconic movies. Directed, written, and co-produced by Zach Cregger, Weapons, is being described as tonally similar to Cruise’s 1999 drama film Magnolia.

Although, the movie’s prospects certainly seem high already, what makes it even more thrilling is that similar to Cruise’s epic, Weapons too appears to be eyeing an incredible cast. After roping in the likes of Josh Brolin and Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich is the newest edition to the cast.

After establishing himself as one of Hollywood’s hottest horror filmmakers with the 2022 mega-smash “Barbarian,” former “Whitest Kids U’Know” star Zach Cregger, seems ready to take an even bigger swing with his second directorial effort. Last year, it was announced that his spec script “Weapons” had sold to New Line in a massive bidding war. Since then, Cregger has pulled together an all-star cast for what’s being described as an interrelated, multistory horror epic that’s tonally in the vein of Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Magnolia.”
So far, Cregger has managed to attract the talents of Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, and Alden Ehrenreich, as well as the producing powers of Roy Lee and Miri Yun from Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Speaking in a statement on behalf of New Line, the company’s president and Cco, Richard Brener said of Cregger, “Zach proved...

As he develops his follow-up to hit horror movie Barbarian, writer/director Zach Cregger has been quietly building the cast he needs for his latest, Weapons. Alden Ehrenreich is the most recent addition to an ensemble that already includes Josh Brolin and Julia Garner.
Weapons is mostly being kept under wraps, but we have previously heard it described as "an interrelated, multistory horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia", focusing on missing high school students. Which would not really surprise us given the terrifying intensity and invention of Barbarian.
New Line snapped up the rights to back the new film, which at one point had Pedro Pascal attached to star before his commitment to other gigs including Marvel's Fantastic Four took precedence. In a coincidental quirk, Garner is also in Fantastic Four, but in a smaller role as Shalla-Bal.

Julia Garner has joined Josh Brolin on Weapons, the new film from the director of Barbarian, Zach Cregger.
Julia Garner has been announced as the leading name in the ensemble for Zach Cregger’s soon-to-shoot horror project, Weapons.
We first learned about the film around a year ago when it became the subject of a heated bidding war. Cregger was coming of the back of 2022’s Barbarian, one of the buzziest horror films of that year. Barbarian didn’t just announce an exciting new voice in the horror genre, it also performed commercially earning $45m worldwide, amounting to around ten times its production budget.
With horror being seen as one of the only remaining genres to reliably pull audiences into cinemas, the success of Cregger’s film saw several studios keen to secure his future services. New Line CInema duly won out and around a year ago, the filmmaker’s next feature was announced.

Though The Beatles were the biggest band in the world in the 1960s, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr still faced censure. Several Beatles songs were banned around the world. One song Lennon wrote did not receive playtime on the radio because some believed it referenced drugs. Lennon rolled his eyes at this interpretation and called the song beautiful.
John Lennon admired a banned Beatles song
In 1968, The Beatles released “Happiness is a Warm Gun.” Every member of the band was incredibly proud of the song, but some censors were not. The BBC banned the song, believing it referenced heroin use.
“‘Happiness Is A Warm Gun’ was another one which was banned on the radio — they said it was about shooting up drugs. But they were advertising guns and I thought it was so crazy that I made a song out of it,” Lennon said in The Beatles Anthology.

Josh Brolin has had an interesting career over the years. His breakthrough role came with the 1985 adventure comedy film Goonies. In the 2000s, he gained prominence playing significant roles in acclaimed films such as No Country For Old Men and Milk. The 2010s was a great decade for Brolin as he tasted huge commercial success with the last two Avengers films and Deadpool 2.

He played iconic comic book characters Thanos and Cable in the two films. However, he had already dipped into the comic book world with DC’s 2010 film Jonah Hex. If Renate Reinsve hadn’t been offered the lead in Joachim Trier’s 2021 feature The Worst Person in the World, she was planning to quit acting and become a carpenter. After years of frustration with the roles being offered her in Norway, Reinsve had decided to try out Plan B: Learn woodworking and set up a carpentry school for young girls and women.
“I had just finished renovating my house,” Reinsve recalls, “and I really loved it, doing things with my hands, making something physical and real. So I thought: Maybe this is what I should be doing.”
But that call from Trier put Plan A back on the table. The Worst Person in the World, which Reinsve describes as an “anti-romantic romantic comedy,” premiered in Cannes and was an instant breakout. Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World) is currently part of the Weapons cast.

Last year, New Line Cinema went all-in on a partnership with Barbarian (watch it Here) writer/director Zach Cregger and the film’s producers at BoulderLight Pictures. New Line came out the winner in a bidding war over Cregger’s next film, a mysterious horror project called Weapons. They signed a first look deal with BoulderLight Pictures, tasking the company with developing high concept genre projects for them. And they gave a greenlight to the thriller Companion, produced by BoulderLight and Cregger. Last May, it was announced that Pedro Pascal of The Last of Us had signed on to star in Weapons… and six months later, it was reported that Pascal was also in talks to play Reed Richards in Marvel’s new attempt at bringing the Fantastic Four to the big screen. Last month, a rumor started to circulate that the shooting schedules for Weapons and Fantastic Four were conflicting,...

Josh Brolin is in negotiations to star in Weapons, the New Line horror thriller from Barbarian filmmaker Zach Cregger.
The feature is Cregger’s highly anticipated Barbarian follow-up and was to have shot last year but the dual writers and actors strikes caused the movie to push its initial fall 2023 start of production. That caused a conflict with the project’s previous star, Pedro Pascal, whose schedule ran up against his commitment to Fantastic Four, which is shooting this summer.
Cregger wrote the top secret script for Weapons, which is described as an interrelated, multistory horror epic that tonally is in the vein of Magnolia, the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.
The project is also a reunion of the Barbarian producing team. Cregger is producing along with Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon also produces.

Pedro Pascal has reportedly left Zach Cregger’s next film Weapons as Marvel’s Fantastic Four is looking to start production in Q3.
Pedro Pascal might just be the busiest man in Hollywood. The 48-year-old actor is one of the most in demand leading men in La La Land currently. He’s currently busy with prep for The Last Of Us season 2 which begins filming in February.
Pascal appeared at the Golden Globes with his arm in a sling, but that will not hinder production on The Last Of Us season 2. People who have played the game might be able to figure out why…
He’s also rumoured to be starring in Marvel’s Fantastic Four movie as Reed Richards and will also appear in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2 alongside Paul Mescal.

Is there a corner of pop culture that Pedro Pascal won't stake a claim on? The man who is Mando in The Mandalorian and Joel in The Last Of Us has plenty of genre cred (let's not forget his small but lethally memorable role in Game Of Thrones), but it appears he's closing in on another big chunk of the entertainment sphere. According to SlashFilm, confirming :a[a tip from Daniel Richtman]{href='https://twitter.com/DanielRPK/status/1724880789165281528' }, Pascal is in talks to play Reed Richards, Aka Mr. Fantastic, the main man behind the Fantastic Four.

Superpower director Sean Penn isn’t mincing words in his denunciation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The two-time Oscar-winning actor, whose new documentary about the war in Ukraine is now streaming on Paramount+, calls the Kremlin leader “a gangster with nuclear weapons,” in an interview with Deadline. His comments came during a taping at Deadline studios in Los Angeles for an upcoming episode of Doc Talk, a new podcast that launched earlier this month.
At another point in the interview, Penn described Putin as “this monster that’s running the show” in Russia now. In contrast, he lauds Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s character responding to the existential threat to his country from Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

When depicting a fantasy world on film, the only limit is an artist's imagination. However, the armory crew of "The Witcher" prefers to hew closer to reality. When it comes to metalworking, they aim for pseudo-historical accuracy.
The Netflix series is based on fantasy novels by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, published from 1990 to 2013. While they have an international fanbase, especially thanks to the just-as-popular spin-off video game series, they are still Polish books written and published first in Sapkowski's native tongue. The setting of "The Witcher," known only as the Continent, is a version of Dark Ages Central Europe (albeit with magic and monsters).
Due to that setting, swords and armor are common props in "The Witcher," as they were the main methods of defense back then. The series even maintains its own armory team, led by Nick Jeffries, which creates "hundreds" of new weapons every season. Speaking to GamesRadar,...

The longest story arc in the series so far finally reaches its conclusion. It has been a long, but mostly enjoyable road to get here so will the final chapter deliver on the build-up? My reviews aren’t usually spoiler heavy, but I have a fair bit to say about this issue and I think dancing around the spoilers will make it a longer read. So from this point forward, there will be spoilers as it will make it easier to break things down. But first let’s kick off with the cover and I want to shout out Lenil Yu as I haven’t done so enough. He has been providing some beautiful all-out action covers for the entirety of this arc. He has always drawn a great Wolverine (more on that later). For...

Zach Cregger, the director of last year’s surprise hit “Barbarian”, has assembled an impressive cast for his next project, a horror epic titled “Weapons”. The film, which was acquired by Warner Bros. and New Line in a fierce bidding war, will star Renate Reinsve, Pedro Pascal, Brian Tyree Henry, Tom Burke, Austin Abrams and June Diane Raphael.
Reinsve, who won acclaim for her performance in the Norwegian dramedy “Worst Person in the World”, landed the lead role after Elizabeth Olsen and Rooney Mara passed on it. The film is said to revolve around “witchcraft and missing children” and will be told through multiple and interrelated stories. The screenplay is reportedly very dense and could result in a three-hour runtime.

Sophie Thatcher, one of the breakouts from Showtime sensation Yellowjackets, has nabbed the titular role in Companion, the sci-fi thriller from the team behind last year’s horror hit Barbarian.
The project has been casting up ahead of a hoped-for summer start of production and has Jack Quaid, Lukas Gage, Megan Suri and Harvey Guillén on the call sheet.
Drew Hancock wrote the original script and is making his directorial debut with the feature, the many plot points of which are being kept hush-hush. It is, however, being described as self-contained, and Thatcher is set to play a character who is more than meets the eye.
The feature is being produced by Zach Cregger, the filmmaker who made the twist-filled, pulse-rushing Barbarian, and his Barbarian companions Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz of BoulderLight Pictures and Roy Lee of Vertigo.
BoulderLight’s Tracy Rosenblum and Vertigo’s Andrew Childs will executive produce.

Gamers are passionate people and their favorite titles mean a lot to them, so they can be pretty protective over the characters within. Few things are more fun than exploring Tears of the Kingdom‘s weapons. Thanks to the game’s new Fuse system, players are capable of creating a nearly infinite supply of powerful weapons. Granted, even the best weapons will still break, but that mechanic allows you to create some genuinely broken weapons that will carry you through the game.
That’s what makes talking about the absolute best weapons in Tears of the Kingdom kind of difficult. While some weapons boast a higher base attack power than others, the best weapons usually require some kind of fusion to reach their full potential. It’s a great system, but it does mean you won’t just find the absolute best weapons laying around in the world.
That being the case, we’re going to break this article down into two sections. The first will tell you some of your best weapon...

Written and directed by Cregger, plot details are yet to be revealed but sources have described the project as an interrelated, multistory horror epic that tonally is in the vein of ‘Magnolia,’ the 1999 actor-crammed showcase from filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson.
Pascal’s role is also being kept under lock and key.

Having starred in the ‘Star Wars’ spin-off ‘The Mandalorian’, Pascal’s fame sky-rocketed only cementing his talents in the success of the series ‘The Last of Us.’ Next up on his production schedule is the ‘Gladiator’ sequel for Ridley Scott and Paramount.

Clearly looking to have the best "What I did on my hiatus" report when he returns to The Last Of Us (assuming it isn't impacted by the writers' strike), Pedro Pascal is adding to his film list by snagging a lead role in Weapons, the new horror from Barbarian writer/director Zach Cregger.
Announced back in January, the film was notable for the mystery surrounding it and the hefty deal that New Line offered to snag Cregger's next script — a sizable money offer, final cut as director and a promise of a cinema release.
Pascal's role is, like everything else, a mystery right now and the cameras should be rolling in the autumn. Which still leaves time for the actor to squeeze in work on Ridley Scott's Gladiator sequel and has Pedro Almodovar’s short film Strange Way Of Life debuting at Cannes plus a role in Ethan Coen...

Pedro Pascal can't stop and won't stop, and we wouldn't have it any other way. The actor who's still fresh off his acclaimed turn in "The Last Of Us" and gearing up for the "Gladiator" sequel has just added a new movie to his schedule; he's set to star in Zach Cregger's next horror film, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Horror fans will recognize Cregger as the writer-director behind last year's totally bonkers movie, "Barbarian," which became a word-of-mouth hit for its utterly unpredictable thrills and twists. His next film is called "Weapons," and while the plot remains under wraps, THR describes it as "an interrelated, multistory horror epic." The film has also, oddly, garnered comparisons to Paul Thomas Anderson's "Magnolia," the emotional 1999 film that featured a sprawling cast of characters in various states of progress (or lack thereof).
Whatever "Weapons" is, expectations will surely be high after "Barbarian...
