Despite the billions of dollars that have been invested in DC movies over the last decade, the most successful cinematic universe that doesn't have "Marvel" in the name is actually the one that spawned from James Wan's 2013 movie "The Conjuring." Alongside the primary movies about demon-hunters Ed and Lorraine Warren, the franchise has also expanded into spin-offs. Corin Hardy's 2018 film "The Nun," based around the demonic nun first seen in "The Conjuring 2," scored the biggest opening weekend for any "Conjuring" universe so far: an impressive $53.8 million that immediately eclipsed its $22 million production budget.
A sequel directed by Michael Chaves, simply titled "The Nun II," hit theaters this weekend, and while it won't quite reach the heights of the first movie, it's still on track to be another major horror hit for Warner Bros. Pictures. Per The Wrap, "The Nun II" grossed $13.1 million on Friday (including Thursday previews...

The latest installment in the Conjuring universe follows the events of 2018’s The Nun, a prequel to even the first Conjuring film. This film is definitely more impressive than its predecessor, but it still fails to leave the same mark as The Conjuring. What does stand out, though, are the characters of the film, and Sister Irene happens to be a highlight. While she is a boring nun in the first film, who happens to be clairvoyant, she’s especially popular because she’s played by Taissa Farmiga, Vera Farmiga’s younger sister. This made everyone wonder, what the connection between the two characters was and why they chose to cast her for this role. This is not to say, that Taissa doesn’t do a great job playing a horror-stricken nun who will do anything in her power to help people.

We never thought we’d be writing about another supposed Conjuring film, but lo and behold, 10 years into the franchise, it isn’t taking a pause just yet. The Nun 2 has just been released and is garnering a mixed reaction from fans. The film, set four years after the first Nun film, is, in a sense, a prequel to 2013’s The Conjuring. The Conjure-verse (we just made that up; don’t come at us) consists of eight films, but don’t be mistaken by The Curse of La Llorana, which was not, in fact, a part of the universe, but a stand-alone film and has created a huge reputation for itself in the horror world.
It’s impossible for horror fans not to mention The Conjuring when talking about their beloved genre, whether in a good or bad way, because the films have been everywhere for the last 10 years.

Toward the end of last year, it was announced that The Conjuring 4 is in the works at New Line Cinema, with James Wan and Peter Safran producing and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who previously worked on the scripts for The Conjuring 2 and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, writing the screenplay. Wan has previously hinted that The Conjuring 4 could turn out to be the last film in the franchise… and if it is, it has a fitting title for a final installment. While at CinemaCon, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners, Warner Bros. revealed that the next movie is titled The Conjuring: Last Rites.
Nothing is known about the plot at this time, and the movie also doesn’t have a director attached to it at the moment.
The title reveal for The Conjuring: Last Rites isn’t the only bit of promotion Warner Bros.

CinemaCon is underway in Las Vegas and while Sony kicked things off with a big presentation last night, it's Warner Bros. stepping up to the bat today. The studio is not messing around in making sure theater owners of the world know they have a lot coming down the pipeline, including two entries in beloved franchises. For one, the studio has indeed confirmed that "Beetlejuice 2" is in development and will seemingly, finally happen after nearly 35 years. Meanwhile, "The Conjuring 4" has been given a title that may be telling of where that series is headed.
During a sizzle reel that played to open up WB's panel, a title card for "Beetlejuice 2" was shown. No further information was revealed right away, but if they bothered to include that in the presentation right up front, it's clear that this project is finally headed in the right direction. For what it's worth,...

The HBO Max streaming service is being rebranded as simply Max, and now that they have a newly shortened name they’re making a lot of news announcement to let us know what the future holds for Max. Among today’s revelations is that Max is developing a series that would be set in the Conjuring Universe!
The Hollywood Reporter has been able to confirm that Conjuring Universe franchise producer Peter Safran, who also now (with James Gunn) heads up DC Studios for Max owner Warner Bros. Discovery, will executive produce the series. A deal hasn’t been locked in with fellow Conjuring Universe producer James Wan just yet, but talks are underway to get him on board as an executive producer.
Plot details are being kept under wraps. All Max was willing to say is that the series will “continue the story established in the feature films.” And there...
