(Vague general spoilers)
Excellent episode, aptly named. Taraji Henson should get an award for her portrayal of determination and hopeful-yet-fearful trust. As Detective Joss Carter, she bit off much more than expected when offering protection to the five dons of organized crime. Emerging new crime boss Carl Elias plans to end them all and unite the territories. Reese shrugs it off, "Let the trash take out the trash" but Finch is worried about collateral damage to innocent bystanders.
Tension is high throughout the hour, as Carter quickly realizes Elias is supported by a cabal of corrupt cops known as HR. She feels pretty much alone, trying to protect the dons. The police have apparently abandoned her. Detective Lionel Fusco ("You gotta trust someone. Elias doesn't own every cop in the city") is her partner, but can she really trust him? There are moles everywhere. And ever since Reese reluctantly gave up the location of Moretti's safe-house (Baby Blue), she won't take his calls.
If that weren't enough, Elias sends his man Scarface (Anthony) to school. Why? To kidnap Carter's son Taylor, to force her to give up the gang bosses. Scarface shoots a school official dead on the sidewalk — just one more innocent life. Elias might seem likable as portrayed by Colantoni, but he can never become heroic to me.
Lots of good quotes and quips. Finch has an interesting little coffee-house chat with Officer Simmons, the HR leader within NYPD. Reese goes berserker-mode. "Bad-ass!" Carter gets a new gun — a big one. And of course, a car bomb.
Best musical piece: "Ne Me Quitte Pas" (Don't Leave Me) by Nina Simone.
