Michael J. Fox made his presence felt at "The 64th Primetime Emmy Awards," in a big way, and it was completely unscripted and spontaneous. The 51-year-old actor, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991 and recently inked a deal to return to network television in his own series, was on hand to present the award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
It's not usually a situation that warrants a standing ovation, but despite what Jimmy Kimmel said in his introduction, everybody loves Michael J. Fox. He's been a true inspiration throughout his battle with Parkinson's disease, and his return to television is a testament to both his dedication to acting, and his successful management of the disease.
"Steady as a rock," Fox quipped, as everyone in the theater rose to their feet. And then, it was business as usual. Fox closed out the evening, giving "Modern Family" its fourth Emmy on the night.

Win or lose, it will be a hot night for all the stars at television's Emmy Awards this year - sizzling red hot, to be exact. "Our goal is to welcome our thousands of guests into a romantic, dramatic embrace," says Governors Ball Chair Joe Stewart. "Everything must be very elegant … and say 'classic timelessness.' The Emmys are meant to honor the best of the best at the conclusion of a television season, but from a PopWatch Planner point of view, tonight’s ceremony, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, is the ideal kick-off for a week of much-anticipated television premieres. Now only do some old favorites return — Modern Family, Dancing With the Stars — but we finally get to peek at some of the most promising new shows. (I’m crossing my fingers for Last Resort.)
So you’ll forgive me if this week’s Planner is Boob Tube heavy, but for any true coach potato, this week is Christmas.

Jimmy Kimmel is planning to unveil the "biggest prank ever" at the 2012 Emmy Awards.
Kimmel, host of the 64th Emmy Awards, has been planning a prank to end all pranks.
“I am gonna do something very weird during the show," the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" host told Entertainment Weekly. "I think it could possibly be the biggest prank ever pulled, as far as number of people involved. Possibly. I haven’t researched it, but it’ll definitely be right up there. The audience will be a participant in this. So it’s important that you watch because you’re either going to be in on it or not.”
EW's Mandi Bierly speculated that the 44-year-old might "instruct at-home viewers to tweet that some scandalous thing that just happened at the Emmys, and the people who aren’t watching the show won’t know that it didn’t really happen."
