Considering Officer Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) is part of Intelligence, of course he returns from some time away and gets thrown right into a complicated case on Chicago P.D. Aguilar has been absent from the first three episodes of Season 11, but he returns in “Escape,” airing February 7. Torres has been on furlough helping his mom, who “has had some health complications,” Aguilar tells TV Insider. “He became the man of the house when he was 14 years old, and there’s this dynamic between them that he just takes very seriously. So he had to put everything on pause to focus on that. And thankfully she’s doing better.” But as soon as he returns, he ends up going undercover in a tense and high-stakes drug trafficking case. “It’s one of those things that he knows he’s the right man for the job because of the way he grew up,...

A new Chicago P.D. episode is finally going to feature Officer Dante Torres.
The energetic Intelligence member had been furloughed to open the season, with the writers explaining that Torres was with his mom.
His absence was glaring, especially since the team still misses Detective Jay Halstead (played by Jesse Lee Soffer).
Actor Benjamin Levy Aguilar joined the Chicago P.D. cast while Halstead was still around, but he became integral in Halstead’s absence during Season 10.
Chicago P.D. Season 11 began without Torres, as the writers focused on other characters to carry the stories.
The Chicago P.D. season premiere focused on Detective Hailey Upton, the second episode was about Officer Adam Ruzek and his struggles to return to work, and the January 31 episode featured Office Kim Burgess.
Now it’s finally Torres time.

Franklin J. Schaffner's 1968 sci-fi classic "Planet of the Apes," written by Michael Wilson and Rod Serling, is a perfectly wicked political satire set in a distant, distant future on a distant, distant planet wherein human-like beings live as mute brutes and apes have evolved into the dominant rulers of the planet. The planet is discovered by a group of Earth astronauts who flew through some sort of time vortex while in the outer cosmos, and their leader, the stalwart Taylor (Charlton Heston), finds himself having to prove to the planet's own apes that humans are indeed capable of speech and thought.
In one of the best-known twist endings in cinema history, the film ultimately reveals that the planet of the apes was Earth all along. Taylor discovers a millennia-old Statue of Liberty on a distant beach, realizing that humans destroyed themselves in a nuclear conflagration and that apes evolved in their place.

We are two episodes into Season 11 of Chicago P.D., and Officer Dante Torres has not appeared.
The Intelligence team member joined the show to replace Detective Jay Halstead (played by Jesse Lee Soffer).
Torres was brought in by Halstead to help the team but ended up taking the open slot, thanks to Hank Voight (Jason Beghe).
Actor Benjamin Levy Aguilar works well on the show and brings something fresh to a group that has been together for years.
But Chicago P.D. fans have many questions after his character vanished for the first two episodes of Season 11.
A throwaway line at the beginning of the season premiere revealed that Torres was furloughed to spend time with his mom.

In one episode of the new World War II epic Masters of the Air, a character collapses from exhaustion and sleeps through the events of D-Day, which were so memorably dramatized in Saving Private Ryan. In another, we realize that several characters are being held in the same Pow camp that was the subject of the classic Sixties film The Great Escape, and that our heroes had no idea the escape was happening until well after the fact.

Anna (Grace Glowicki) is not okay. In writer/director Mary Dauterman’s feature directorial debut, the mid-twenties New Yorker is grieving the loss of her roommate and best friend, Izzy (Sofia Dobrushin). She’s dodging calls from her co-worker Devon for repeatedly missing work, eating questionable looking Thai take-out that Izzy left in the fridge, and refusing to acknowledge that her boyfriend Max (Garrick Bernard) might also be upset about Izzy’s death.
And then Booger, the stray cat that she and Izzy adopted, escapes out the window.
The cat is the straw that breaks the camel’s back for Anna, who unravels when the last symbol of her relationship with Izzy disappears. Her attempt to recover the pet becomes an all-encompassing quest, resulting in a downward spiral that includes surreal dream sequences, blackout drinking binges, and unusual cat-like behavior.
Because Booger is genre-adjacent, that unusual behavior manifests as body horror.

Lots of filmmakers push boundaries and raise eyebrows, but not every Hollywood production earns America threats of nuclear warfare. That honor almost exclusively belongs to Seth Rogen's "The Interview," the 2014 movie that poked fun at the famously mercurial North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. The government of North Korea was so opposed to the release of "The Interview" that it ordered a cyberattack on Sony Pictures' servers, an FBI investigation concluded (per The New York Times).
In the wake of terror threats, "The Interview" was pulled from theaters and released on digital platforms instead, an irregular choice for 2014. The political backlash had real consequences for the movie's release, unlike most other bad press, which rarely prevents films from hitting theaters.

S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt has revealed she was left “homeless” due to the UK housing crisis.
The singer and actor, who had chart-topping success with the pop group from 1998 to 2003, had to sleep in a friend’s office with her partner, personal trainer Adam Thomas, and their two young children at Christmas.
In a new interview, Spearritt, 41 said they had no choice but to move after a landlord, who had given them two months to leave their rented home in South West London, brought the move date forward.
The decision left them with two days to find a new place and, after finding a short-term rental, that property’s landlord asked them to pay £6,000 up front, which Spearritt called “crazy extortionate”.
“Our landlord needed the money and the property sold so fast,” she told The Sun. “We ended up with under two days to leave. What screwed us is...

Mario Casas, one of Spain’s biggest film and TV stars, and Goya Award winner actress Anna Castillo, will headline “Escape,” the new film by writer-director Rodrigo Cortés.
Produced by Adrián Guerra and Núria Valls at Barcelona-based Nostromo Pictures, “Escape” is a free adaptation of same-title novel penned by Spanish author Enrique Rubio.
Nostromo announced the new film project after completing an intense 2022, in which the company lensed seven films and released two more titles – Marçal Forés’ “Through My Window” and Oriol Paulo’s “God’s Crooked Lines” – both achieving a standout global reach.
“Escape’s” story turns on N., a young man who wants to live in prison and will do whatever it takes to get there, raising questions such as if those who care about him will get to stop him from committing increasingly serious crimes and how far will the judge go to not grant him his proposal.

With the days counting down until the Dead Space remake is finally unleashed, EA and composer Trevor Gureckis have a little treat for us in the form of “Make Us Whole”, an exclusive track from the Dead Space soundtrack. Fans of Henry Jacobson‘s Bloodline will be all too familiar with Gureckis’ work, who has also collaborated with M. Night Shyamalan on Old and the Apple+ series “Servant”.
The Dead Space remake is Trevor Gureckis’ first foray into Aaa video game scores. The full score will be released on the same day as the remake, courtesy of Lakeshore Records.
“Making the score to Dead Space was an 18 month long journey that started out with musically reassessing the lore of the game from scratch – and searching for thematic opportunities,” explains Gureckis. “I began by writing musical suites not connected to specific scenes or chapters, but rather to the story alone. Borat 2 star Maria Bakalova will chair the committee selecting Bulgaria’s best international film submission for the 2022-23 Oscar race, the country’s National Film Center has confirmed.
Bakalova was Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated in the 2020-21 awards season for her performance as Borat’s daughter along Sacha Baron Cohen. She is now busy forging a career in Hollywood where subsequent credits have included The Bubble, Bodies Bodies Bodies and the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
She has remained loyal to her native Bulgaria where she cut her acting teeth in its independent arthouse cinema scene.
Bakalova’s arrival on the Bulgarian Oscar selection committee follows controversy last year, after the selection of Ivaylo Hristov’s drama Fear over Cannes Un Certain Regard selection Women Do Cry, by Vesela Kazakova and Mina Mileva’s and starring Bakalova, prompted accusations of foul play.

Jessica Lee Gagné had shot Ben Stiller’s narrative TV directorial debut, “Escape at Dannemora,” in 2017, but when Stiller told her about his next project, she had a hard time getting on board. The focal point of Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed series “Severance” is an office — a big square room with white walls, beaming fluorescent lights tucked into a low ceiling, four desks at the center, and a green carpet. Outside that is a labyrinth of stark white hallways even brighter than inside the office. Gagné couldn’t think of anything worse as a director of photography.
“There were no windows,” she said. “I can’t not have a window. But ‘Severance’ is probably a good lesson that you can really make [something] what you want it to be.”
Gagné is a meticulous Dp. She hates failure, loves testing, and despite the difficulty it takes to stand up to those...

For several years running, Kalie Shorr has been one of country music’s most promising new artists — for how she melds an appreciation of the genre’s roots with an unabashed love for emo and pop, for her cutting songwriting, and for how she’s made her feminism a vital part of her musical perspective. Though she released an Ep, Awake, last year, she’s stopped short of a full-length. That will change on September 27th with Open Book, Shorr’s debut LP, which she co-wrote and also co-produced. It always helps to know someone when you’re breaking into showbiz, and a familial connection to Pink Floyd led British-born Edward Shearmur to work with the late two-time Oscar nominated composer Michael Kamen, known for such scores as Brazil and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
Handling a variety of tasks for more than a decade for Kamen, one of the takeaways for Shearmur was his mentor’s ability to improvise music literally on the stand before a live orchestra, giving prompt directions to each section of brass, percussion, woodwind, etc and weaving them all together.
It’s a talent that Shearmur literally used while he was writing the score to the Showtime Ben Stiller-directed limited series Escape at Dannemora. Crimes, scandals and nuclear meltdowns: There’s certainly no lack of drama among this year’s Emmy nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.

Fresh from his Wildlife directorial debut, Paul Dano found himself headed to prison. In Showtime’s limited series Escape at Dannemora, Dano plays real-life convict David Sweat, who escaped from New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility in 2015. Meeting with Sweat in preparation for the shoot, Dano delved deep into the portrayal of the man who was ultimately recaptured and whose prison breakout cost the life of his fellow escapee Richard Matt (Benicio Del Toro). The role earned Dano his first Emmy nomination, as he began to write his next feature project.
Deadline: How do you tend to choose your roles? In the case of Escape at Dannemora, what was the draw?

Patricia Arquette has doubled down in the Emmys nominations list this year, with nods for both her leading role in Showtime’s prison-based limited series Escape at Dannemora and for her supporting role in Hulu’s limited series The Act—both were based on real-life characters.
The last actress Emmy-nominated in two categories in the same year like this was Allison Janney in 2016, for Mom and Masters of Sex—a duo of awards she also actually won in 2014. Double nominations have been an interesting Emmy quirk in other instances too. For example Elisabeth Moss was nominated in 2013 for both her lead roles in Top of the Lake and in Mad Men. She was then expected to get another double nom in 2017 for The Handmaid’s Tale and for the second season of Lake, however, only the former was ultimately recognized.

The pessimist’s view of this year’s Emmy nominations would start out with the idea that Game of Thrones‘ weakest season just shattered the record for most nods in a single year (32, lapping NYPD Blue‘s 26 in 1994), including writing and directing for the widely-panned series finale. It might then go on to note that Better Things and its creator/star Pamela Adlon were ignored after Adlon was nominated in each of the last two years, or that fantastic performances like Better Call Saul‘s Rhea Seehorn, Glow‘s Alison Brie,...

As diversity and inclusion attempt to stay afloat in Hollywood, this morning’s Emmy nominations showed that although the needle has been slowly moving, it hasn’t been moving enough to see change. This year, there were only 24 acting nominations for people of color. In addition, two reality show hosts of color were nominated which brings the total to 26. This is a major dip from last year’s record 38 and even less than 2017 which counted 27 diverse nominees.
Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us came in with the most nominations for people of color including a first-time nod for Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for Jharrel Jerome’s stunning turn as the real-life Korey Wise in the Netflix limited series. Other well deserved nominations from the series included Niecy Nash and Aunjanue Ellis for Lead Actress Limited Series or Movie as well as Marsha Stephanie Blake for Supporting Actress.
