Don’t expect to see Hallmark hunk Ryan Paevey in any of the network’s movies in the near future. The “weary” performer is taking a break from acting, he revealed in a recent social media post.

Paevey shared his disappointing update with fans in a series of posts on X on April 9.
“Sadly no word of a film,” he wrote. “I may take 2024 off from filming, unless the project is with friends. The last 8 months of life in this industry have left a pretty bitter taste in my mouth, and I need some time away from a world so full of fake friends and empty promises. I’m weary…”
While Paevey sounded frustrated with some aspects of the entertainment industry, the General Hospital alum assured his followers that he is keeping his head up.

Jennifer Love Hewitt was one of the biggest teen stars of the nineties. First making a splash on Party of Five, she parlayed that success into a solid career in features, leading the teen horror slasher classic I Know What You Did Last Summer (as well as its less beloved sequel), the comedy cult classic Can’t Hardly Wait. Her fame carried over into the 2000s, with her showing impeccable comic timing in the underrated Heartbreakers opposite Sigourney Weaver, Gene Hackman, and the late Ray Lotta. She even teamed up with Jackie Chan in The Tuxedo. She also starred in not one but two Garfield movies (in which Bill Murray voiced the titular feline) and also had a role opposite Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin in the notoriously troubled Shortcut to Happiness, in which she played a sexy version of the devil.

T.V. Carpio, the actress who has appeared in shows such as Big Sky and The Client List, has joined the NBC medical drama Chicago Med in a recurring role. As reported by Deadline, Carpio will portray Dr. Grace Song, a new doctor hired by Jack Dayton (Sasha Roiz), and is set to shake things up when the show returns in 2023. The casting comes following several cast departures, including Brian Tee, Asjha Cooper, Sarah Rafferty, Kristen Hager, and Guy Lockard. Carpio’s Dr. Song is likely to be one of many changes for the popular medical series. This season’s fall finale saw Roiz’s Jack purchase a controlling interest in Gaffney Medical Group, which suggests he will be setting up his own team as he rebuilds the hospital in his image. Chicago Med, created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, launched in 2015 and premiered its eighth season on September 21, 2022. It...

Exclusive: T.V. Carpio (Big Sky) has joined the cast of NBC’s Chicago Med in a recurring role, Deadline hears. She will portray Dr. Grace Song, a new doctor hired by Jack Dayton (Sasha Roiz) who will shake things up when the show returns in the spring.
Grace’s hiring comes as no surprise following the news that Jack bought controlling interest in Gaffney Medical Group in the fall finale—building up his own team is par for the course. If Sharon Goodwin’s (S. Epatha Merkerson) reaction to the news of Jack’s come-up is any indication of what’s to come, however, it’s more than likely the addition of Grace won’t be the only change ahead for the hospital.
Carpio’s casting follows multiple cast exits including Brian Tee, Asjha Cooper, Sarah Rafferty, Kristen Hager, and Guy Lockard.

Exclusive: Lifetime has given a green light to How To Murder Your Husband, one of the network’s new Ripped from the Headlines movies announced today, starring Cybill Shepherd (The Client List) and Steve Guttenberg. It’s slated for premiere on Saturday, January 14 at 8 pm/7c.
The project marks Shepherd’s return to Lifetime following her previous starring role in The Client List and a guest-starring role on Drop Dead Diva.
Based on a true story, the movie revolves around Nancy Crampton-Brophy, played by Shepherd, who seemed to have a knack for writing about murder. The Portland-based romance-thriller novelist authored books about relationships that were tumultuous, while using seductive men on the covers to lure in her readers. Often, her books featured women protagonists who fantasized about killing their own husbands or fleeing their husbands and faking their own deaths. And then, in 2022 in a shocking turn of events,...

Former “Law & Order cast member Elisabeth Röhm will direct an episode of the NBC procedural this season, NBC announced on Monday.
The episode, titled “Only the Lonely,” follows the investigation and trial in the murder of a high-level crisis consultant, who made many enemies in her career.
Röhm starred as Ada Serena Southerlyn from 2001 to 2005. Longtime viewers may remember her surprising exit, in which her character was fired by District Attorney Arthur Branch (Fred Dalton Thompson) for not being hard-nosed enough. Her line, “Is it because I’m a lesbian?” was the first time anyone had mentioned that fact that Serena was gay on the series.

Betty White, who died Dec. 31 at age 99, was perhaps the greatest comic tactician in the history of television.
That’s distinct from comic acting, although White was, of course, a very fine actor. What set White apart was her unerring ability to find not just the joke, but the thing behind the joke: It was as if a special internal radar guided her toward the deflation of vanity. On “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” for instance, her sunny domestic goddess Sue Ann Nivens was purposefully oblivious, and White wrung delicious humor out of Sue Ann’s unwillingness or inability to see that not everyone in the room was charmed by her. And on “The Golden Girls,” her Rose Nylund was a variation on the form: A clueless naif who lived perpetually under the mistaken impression that she was just on the verge of figuring things out.

HBO’s limited series “Mrs. Fletcher” premiered on October 27, telling the story of the title character (Kathryn Hahn), who discovers herself after her teenage son goes to college. Hahn currently ranks among our top 10 Golden Globe contenders for Best TV Movie/Limited Actress according to the combined predictions of more than 1,500 Gold Derby users, but I think we’re underestimating her for a slot in that top five.
The reviews for “Mrs. Fletcher” were positive overall, but the strongest praise was reserved for Hahn, whose performance has been described as “perfect,” “fetching and magnetic,” “splendidly textured” and “glorious.” She has yet to be nominated for a Globe, but that may be because she has made a name for herself largely as a comedic character actress who hasn’t gotten as many opportunities to take center stage. We’re sure “Dancing with the Stars” would love — pun completely intended — to have this celebrity on: Jennifer Love Hewitt, who would love to do the show herself.
During an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” (watch below), the “9-1-1” star revealed that “Dancing” is one of her favorite shows and she is game to lace up her dancing shoes. “I’m ready! I’m ready!” she declared before temporarily having second thoughts. “Oh my God, I’d pass out. I would be too nervous, but I would love to just be, like, in the audience and root people on.”
Sure, but if the “Dancing” producers called, she’d totally do it, right? “I would dance,” she sheepishly said. “Yeah. The second they ask.”
See Don’t flip out, but this athlete might be on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ next season
Hewitt is the latest star to express interest in hitting the hardwood.

Lifetime’s drama You is moving to Netflix for its upcoming second season. The streaming giant already had international distribution for the Berlanti Prods. psychological thriller, whose first season will air as a Netflix original outside of the U.S.. It launches Dec. 26. Starting with Season 2, You will be a Netflix global original.
Lifetime renewed You, starring Penn Badgley and Elizabeth Lail, for a second season in July, ahead of the series’ September premiere. At the time, Netflix already had been on board as an international partner, and I hear the early renewal was done with a move to the Internet network as a possible option. Lifetime renewed You, starring Penn Badgley and Elizabeth Lail, for a second season in July, ahead of the series’ September premiere. At the time, Netflix already had been on board as an international partner, and I hear the early renewal was done with a move to the Internet network as a possible option. When “9-1-1” returns this fall, there’s going to be a new lady taking all the emergency calls Ryan Murphy can dream up, and her name is Jennifer Love Hewitt — err, Maddie.
During the Television Critics Association press tour Thursday, Hewitt joined her new co-stars to discuss joining the Fox drama for its second season, after leading lady Connie Britton’s made her series exit at the end of her one-year deal — and took 911 operator Abby with her.
Luckily, Hewitt will be picking up that headset to help keep things under control in Season 2, if that’s at all possible. Especially because it sounds like Maddie has some demons to deal with on her own.

Former Party of Five and Time of Your Life star Jennifer Love Hewitt is returning to Fox as a lead opposite Angela Bassett and Peter Krause in Season 2 of breakout crime drama 9-1-1, from Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear.
Hewitt will play the new character of Maddie, the sister of firefighter Evan “Buck” Buckley (Oliver Stark), who is starting her life over as a 911 operator. (The announcement was made today during Fox’s upfront presentation.)
The introduction of Maddie would help fill the void left by the departure of Connie Britton who played 911 operator Abby Clark in Season 1. Britton had a one-year deal for the show but the producers still hope that she would come back for a few episodes next season to make the transition more seamless. (Britton earlier today was at the NBCUniversal upfront presentation promoting her new Bravo limited series Dear John).

The CW is developing a series adaptation of Lesley Livingston’s novel The Valiant, which is a story that revolves around a female gladiator.
The series will follow "a Celtic princess on the run from an arranged marriage and a sheltered life who is captured and forced into slavery under Julius Caesar. She ends up training among the first wave of female Gladiators to compete in the Colosseum for fame, fortune and, ultimately, her freedom."
It sounds like a cool project that could turn out to be an awesome series. But, it seems like the kind of show that would be better off being developed by a cable network or streaming service. Places like HBO, Starz, and Netflix tend to give their shows a decent budget and give the creative team more freedom to realize their vision. But, who knows, maybe The CW will surprise us and give us an epic series.
