It’s been 30 years since Winifred Sanderson and her sisters put a spell on fans, and “Hocus Pocus” remains a Halloween classic. So, what are the witchy women up to these days? What about the kids they tormented? Well, at least when it comes to the latter, they aren’t kids anymore.
In fact, you can catch most of them at fan conventions across the country when they aren’t on-screen. Vinessa Shaw, Omri Katz, Thora Birch and Jason Marsden have reunited more than a few times at events in the last few years, as “Hocus Pocus” found its cult following later in its life cycle.
As for the Sanderson sisters, well, they’re obviously still hard at work in Hollywood too. In fact, they just reunited last year for “Hocus Pocus 2” on Disney+.
You can see what the ‘Hocus Pocus” cast looks like now in the photos below.

Samuels weighed in on what it was like to portray a different version of a beloved character in a live chat with her co-stars Marilu Henner and Evan Roderick (via YouTube). The project excited her as an actor, she said.
“I was vaguely familiar with the Aurora franchise and world before, and when I had the opportunity to reprise young Aurora, I thought it was a really interesting challenge,” Samuels said. “I’ve never sort of reinvented or taken the reins of a character that already exists before.”

The story for Mr. Paradise centers on Kelly, an aspiring model, who witnesses a murder and gets caught in a web of intrigue. Michael Benton Adler and Justin Ross will also produce.

Skyler Samuels (The Gabby Petito Story, The Gifted) will take over the lead role as young Aurora, while Evan Roderick (A Tale of Two Christmases, Autumn in the City) will play young Arthur and Marilu Henner (A Kismet Christmas, Evening Shade) will reprise her role as Aida Teagarden.

Lifetime has a long history of mining real-life crime stories for ripped-from-the-headlines TV movies. But social media users are slamming the cable network for dramatizing the recent murder of Gabby Petito in the movie The Gabby Petito Story, which premieres tonight, Saturday, October 1, at 8/7c. And now Nicole Schmidt, Petito’s mother, is addressing the small-screen take on her daughter’s death. “We thought our followers should know that the Lifetime movie on Gabby Petito has no connection to the Petito family nor did they give their approval,” Schmidt said in a statement released by The Aware Foundation, according to Newsweek. “Lifetime took it upon themselves to make the movie.” The film “explores Gabby and her fiancé Brian Laundrie’s complicated relationship and what may have gone wrong during their cross-country trip that resulted in Gabby’s tragic murder,” Lifetime says. “As the one-year anniversary of her tragic death approaches,...

A year ago, 22-year-old Gabby Petito became headline news when the aspiring travel influencer went missing during a cross-country trip with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie. Now her short life and violent death at his hands are the subject of a Lifetime docudrama, The Gabby Petito Story, starring Skyler Samuels (Scream Queens) and Evan Arthur Hall (Orange Is the New Black). “She was attempting to build this life for herself online, then realized, unfortunately too late, that was one very large facade, and her real life was much more turbulent,” says Emmy nominee Thora Birch, who makes her directing debut and plays Gabby’s mother, Nichole Schmidt. (Credit: Lifetime) Petito’s saga ended after her body was recovered in Wyoming and Laundrie committed suicide, claiming responsibility for her death in a notebook found nearby. Birch’s film — which follows the known facts and dramatizes the unknown — travels back two years to...

Child actors often grown up to become veteran actors, but Thora Birch was always different: She wanted to be the one who had the answers. Birch made her mark in “Hocus Pocus,” “American Beauty,” and “Ghost World,” but she had her eye on being the person who told the actors what to do. After producing indie films “Petunia” and “The Competition,” she’s now got that opportunity as the director of Lifetime movie “The Gabby Petito Story,” in which she also takes a role as Gabby’s mom, Nichole.
The daughter of pornographic performers, Birch started acting at four and snagged major commercials before turning to films with “Purple People Eater” at age six. Her three-decade career also includes a recurring role on “The Walking Dead” and starring in the sci-fi podcast “Overleaper.”

After 30 years of fans clamoring for a sequel, the much-anticipated sequel to Hocus Pocus has arrived, but although there are a few returning faces, Thora Birch, who played child Dani Dennison in the original, wasn’t able to reprise her role. The actress is now opening up about her absence, sharing that several attempts were made to have Dani Dennison return for Hocus Pocus 2. “There were three options we had for bringing Dani back, all of which I was excited by,” Birch tells Et Online. But, “by the time they got around to filming, I was already on something else.” Earlier in the year, while on the set of her Lifetime film The Gabby Petito Story, Birch told Et Online, at the time, “I was working on something else when they were filming … otherwise I was definitely going to be there on set with the girls.” Fortunately, Birch has no ill-will towards the sequel,...

After revealing that she was “dismayed” she couldn’t reprise her role as Dani Dennison in “Hocus Pocus 2“, Thora Birch spoke with Et on the red carpet at the Variety Power of Women event, where she explained that there were attempts made to have her return for the sequel and shared whether she’s planning to watch.
Nearly 30 years after “Hocus Pocus” was released, the new film reunites Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters, a trio of witches who are resurrected. In the original, Birch was one of the kids caught up in all the chaos and mayhem that followed their return to Salem, Massachusetts.
Although Birch wasn’t included in the sequel, she says “there were three options we had for how to bring Dani back, all of which I was excited by.” However, “by the time they got around to filming,...

During Et’s visit to the set of “The Gabby Petito Story”, Lifetime’s true-crime film about the van life murder, director Thora Birch opened up about her involvement in two other anticipated projects, “Hocus Pocus 2” on Disney+ and Netflix’s “Wednesday” series.
“I was just a little dismayed I wasn’t able to make it,” Birch said of the sequel to “Hocus Pocus“, in which she originated the role of 8-year-old Dani Dennison, one of the Salem, Massachusetts, kids who gets caught up in the mayhem after the resurrection of the Sanderson sisters.
