South African filmmaker Charles Vundla follows up his 2011 award-winning *neo-noir* "How To Steal 2 Million," with "Cuckold," a dramedy which tells the story of a young professor consumed by alcoholism who is saved from self-destruction by a former schoolmate and begins a journey to save his house, marriage and his life. Starring Vundla himself, along with Terry Pheto, and Louis Roux, the film is set to make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month, in the World Cinema section. This is the first time I'm learning of "Cuckold" so there isn't much I can add to the above. in terms of what to expect. But I can say...

I'm really appreciating the wave of black South African *genre* films we've seen in recent years, from "How To Steal 2 Million," to today's feature, "Cold Harbour," and everything we've covered between the two. Previously titled "Black South-Easter," "Cold Harbour" is a South African crime thriller starring Tony Kgoroge, Fana Mokoena (maybe the most recognizable to USA audiences), Yu Nan, Deon Lotz, Thomas Gumede and Zolani Mahola, directed by Carey McKenzie and produced by Tendeka Matatu. The film opens with the mutilated body of a Chinese man that washes up on a Cape Town beach. For township cop Sizwe Miya (played...

South African *neo-noir* thriller How To Steal 2 Million, a film we've been following for about 2 years now, as it traveled the international film festival circuit, winning acclaim along the way, is now available to USA audiences via iTunes, and you're encouraged to take a look at it. A quick recap... Directed by Charles Vundla, the film stars Menzi Ngubane, Rapulana Seiphemo, Terry Pheto, Hlubi Mboya and John Kani. Kani might be the most familiar to those in the west. A veteran actor of stage and screen, as well as a writer in his own right, Kani's resume includes parts in The Ghost And The Darkness, and Sarafina, as well as alongside Ralph Fiennes and Gerard Butler in...

Hey, America! Charlie Vundla's South African crime noir How To Steal 2 Million is available online right now at iTunes, Amazon and YouTube and you should watch it. Really. Right now. We were first wowed by the trailer for this one back in August of 2011 before it went on to screen at Fantastic Fest - where Peter Martin had good things to say - and before it went on to win four African Academy Awards. It's becoming increasingly clear that things are changing and changing fast in African cinema and this film is one of the vanguard helping to bring those changes about. It's also hugely entertaining. So check out the trailer below and then hit the links above if it catches your interest....

Death Race 2 was perhaps better than people expected from a Dtv followup to a mediocre remake, and Universal's 1440 Entertainment is hard at work on another one. They're currently down in South Africa shooting the film with Luke Goss (Death Race 2), Danny Trejo and Ving Rhames. Familiar faces to the series include Fred Koehler, Robin Shou, and Tanit Phoenix, and joining the series will be Dougray Scott )(Mission: Impossible II”) and Hlubi Mboya (How To Steal 2 Million)....

Guess it's just a centipede-y kind of day. Aubrey already showed you a new preview image from "The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence." Now I've got the info on where you'll be able to see the film for the very first time: Austin's Fantastic Fest, on September 22. The deranged depravity debuts as this year's Opening Night Film.
Along with the announcement that director Tom Six's sequel to everyone's favorite ass-to-mouth horror movie will make its world premiere at the festival, Fantastic Fest also solidified the remainder of its lineup today. You can see it all below, but here are a few noteworthy highlights: the Us premiere of Morgan Spurlock's San Diego Comic-Con documentary, "Episode IV: A Fan's Hope," a Cuban zombie movie called -- you're gonna love this -- "Juan of the Dead," and a 30th anniversary screening of "An American Werewolf in London" with makeup artist Rick Baker in attendance.

Wow. In two weeks, Michael and I will begin our 14 hour drive from St. Louis to Austin. We are super excited to be attending and giving you guys advance reviews of films that, more than likely, every horror and genre loving freak out there will want to read. The final wave has been announced and while we only see that we got one more hit on our prediction list, I’m still happy with what was announced. We will be attending the World Premiere of The Human Centipede Part 2: Full Sequence and the new film from the directors of Inside, Livid. Much more is in store so read beyond the break.

Twitch Film and Movies.com once again present the International Trailer Domination Tour, a selection of the best trailers from upcoming international films. This edition brings you balding, overweight men sliding rocks across sheets of ice, the reunion of Jet Li and Tsui Hark, South African crime noir, French cabaret dancers and an unclassifiable oddity from Japan. Five films, three continents. Not bad. 1. How To Steal 2 Million by Charlie Vundla, South Africa Africa has long been a sort of dead zone when it comes to world cinema. Not because they don’t produce films there – Nigeria, in particular, has a thriving industry – but because nobody outside the continent ever saw any of them. District 9 woke many up to the fact that there was talent on the continent...
