Bob, a genuinely sweet and simple 80 year old man is content living at home with his wife Anita. When a handmade oil painting arrives from Anita's sister, triggering a series of ensuing coincidences, Bob is sent into a state of questioning who he is in the face of everything he takes for granted. Influenced by the Italian classic '8 1/2', 'Rude Awakening' uses Magical Realism to infuse our hero's reality with his dreams. Is this the rambling imagination of a befuddled old man, or the arising of a new awareness about what it means to be alive? In the end this new found awareness brings Bob closer to himself and to his relationship with his wife.
