After multiple delays due to reshoots and the 2023 Hollywood strikes, the series is slated to air sometime in 2025, making it to debut 10 years after the Netflix series Daredevil (2015).
This show is named after the 1986 comic book story arc of the same name, which was written by Frank Miller. However, it will not be a direct adaptation.
The show features Michael Gandolfini in an undisclosed role. His father, the late James Gandolfini, was originally considered to play Wilson Fisk/Kingpin in Joe Carnahan's cancelled Daredevil trilogy.
In October 2023, it was reported that Marvel Studios had removed head writers Matt Corman & Chris Ord from production along with some of the series directors. On October 29th, it was reported that Dario Scardapane, who was a writer in Netflix's The Punisher (2017) was hired as showrunner. This marked the first time Marvel Studios had re-used a staff from a former Marvel Television production. Directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who previously worked in Moon Knight (2022) and the second season of Loki (2021) were hired as directors for the remaining episodes.
It was announced in October 23, 2023 that Kevin Feige and the other Marvel executives watched the first few episodes during the writers and actors strike and didn't like what they saw. So they fired the writers and directors and will search for new creative people.
