ESPN Films’ sports docuseries “30 for 30” will launch five new docus this summer.
The upcoming slate features docs about topics including gamer brand FaZe Clan, former track and field superstar Butch Reynolds, and comedy and sports YouTube creator company Dude Perfect.
The summer lineup will launch on June 4 with Kathleen Jayme and Asia Youngman’s “I’m Just Here for the Riot.” About the infamous 2011 Vancouver riot following a Canucks loss to the Boston Bruins during the Stanley Cup final, the film chronicles the event and its aftermath while also raising deeper questions about fandom, violence, and the shocking power of an angry crowd.
The remaining four docus on the slate are: Ismail Al-Amin’s “False Positive,” Justin Staple’s “No Scope: The Story of FaZe Clan,” Jay Caspian Kang’s “American Son,” and Oliver Anderson and Louis Burgdorf’s “Dude Perfect: A Very Long Shot.”

Ubisoft's upcoming video game Star Wars Outlaws will send players on a galactic adventure as they attempt to navigate the seedy underbelly of the galaxy far, far away.
While the game features an original story that follows a brand new character, Kay Vess, players will travel to familiar (and new) planets while dealing with legendary criminal organizations such as the Pyke Syndicate, the Hutt Cartel, and the Crimson Dawn. The recent story trailer for Star Wars Outlaws also mentioned a fourth faction, the Ashiga Clan.
The Ashiga Clan is an all-new faction that has been created by Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games specifically for Star Wars Outlaws. The trailer didn't elaborate too much on this new syndicate, but GameInformer (via GameFragger) recently visited Massive Entertainment to learn about this new crime syndicate.

2022 was the year that Apple TV+'s billions of dollars spent on content began to bear fruit, with several successful releases premiering on the small screen – we got the sci-fi Severance, the spy thriller Slow Horses, and the crime show Black Bird.
Unsurprisingly, Sharon Horgan's Irish comedy thriller Bad Sisters, which has a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, did not have its moment of glory as it was overshadowed by bigger releases. And it’s time to get acquainted with this Apple TV hidden masterpiece.
What is Bad Sisters About?
The dark comedy tells the story of five sisters from picturesque Ireland who banded together after the death of their parents, always supporting each other. The union falls apart when one of them marries and becomes a sad and helpless housewife whose husband forbids her to be herself.

Star Wars Outlaws, the upcoming Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment game, sees the introduction of the Ashiga Clan, placed on familiar land. If you’ve seen Rise of the Skywalker, you’ll know the ice-cold planet of Kijimi, where the clan is based.
But who are they, and why do they hold such significance in Outlaws? Navid Khavari, the game’s narrative director, has revealed key information about this faction in a past interview.

In recent years, Netflix has lost plenty of licensed content, but many will be surprised to learn that some of the removals from Netflix have been Netflix Original titles. Here’s the complete list of every removed Netflix Original since 2017.
To get to the bottom of why Netflix Original titles leave, they usually fall into one of several categories.
The majority leave because Netflix does not own them. Instead, they’re distributed internationally exclusively by Netflix for a fixed period of time. Secondly, it could be temporary or permanent licensing problems. For example, Beat Bugs left due to licensing problems for a short period of time, whereas Slasher was removed for some time because the owner of the series went bankrupt. Thirdly, some titles are time-specific. These include New Year’s Countdowns, for example. We won’t list these below. Next,...

Sister Wives star Robyn Brown historically behaves in a way that cannot be described in any other way but maddening. From crying fake tears to manipulating Kody Brown, here are some of her most maddening personality traits and hot-button topics that infuriate viewers.
Robyn Brown manipulates Kody Brown
Perhaps the most maddening personality trait Robyn Brown shows throughout TLC’s Sister Wives is how she manipulates Kody Brown. This is despite him taking a stance of patriarchy and believing Robyn subscribes to it.
Robyn’s manipulation of Kody was apparent in an episode filmed before their 2010 spiritual marriage. Robyn selfishly insisted he needed to spend equal time with her and her children to help transition them. However, his other wives, Meri, Janelle, and Christine Brown, differed in their opinions.
From a two-week honeymoon to saying she didn’t want to buy their current house [but needed five bedrooms], Robyn is her own dichotomy. She...

There are Kung Fu movies. Then there are Hong Kong Kung Fu movies. One of Sharon Horgan’s goals in an already illustrious career as a showrunner and actor (including beloved British series such as “Pulling” and “Catastrophe”) was to create more varied, interesting roles for women. AppleTV+’s “Bad Sisters” allowed her the chance to do it five times over, in a twisty, addictive yarn about siblings who band together in the aftermath of a creep husband’s mysterious demise. (He’s not called “The Prick” in the show for nothing.)
Sharon Horgan, Eve Hewson, Eva Birthistle and Sarah Greene in “Bad Sisters”

Editor’s note: Deadline’s It Starts on the Page features 10 standout drama series scripts in 2023 Emmy contention. It showcases the critical role writer’s work plays in a show’s success. All materials (the script and writers intro) were submitted before the WGA strike began on May 2.
In her Apple TV+ series Bad Sisters, which just won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Drama, Sharon Horgan examines the lengths that five sisters are willing to go to in order to protect each other. Ted Lasso may have as many Emmys as there are AFC Richmond players in a match, but almost four years into the life of Apple TV+, it’s far from the only reason to visit the streamer. Since its launch in 2019, Apple has paid out for starry collaborations with big names in Hollywood both behind and in front of the camera, many of which have now – creatively at least – paid off.
It hasn’t been a straight ascent, but by sticking with the majority of their original shows over multiple season renewals rather than the slash ‘n’ burn approach elsewhere, Apple TV+ has established a healthy slate of acclaimed originals. There’s weird horror Servant, hard sci-fi Foundation, eerie drama Severance, spy thriller Slow Horses, plus real-life dramatisations, and a lot of very decent comedy. Sharon Horgan could be set to follow in the footsteps of another acclaimed multi-hyphenate, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, by earning Emmy bids for both writing and starring in a beloved show. While Waller-Bridge achieved that feat for her comedy “Fleabag,” Horgan could do it for her Apple TV+ drama “Bad Sisters.” Horgan co-created, starred in, and wrote several episodes of this hit show, which follows the five Garvey sisters who plot to murder John Paul (Claes Bang), the abusive husband of Anne-Marie Duff‘s Grace Garvey.
The show flashes between two timelines — one in which the sisters try to kill John Paul and one in which a pair of insurance investigators (Brian Gleeson‘s Thomas and Daryl McCormack‘s Matthew) try to prove the sisters’ involvement in John Paul’s death to save their own business.
Horgan teamed up with “New Girl” scribes Brett Baer and Dave Finkel to adapt the hit Belgian show “Clan.

The UK owes many of its proudest creations to other countries. Our national dish is chicken tikka masala, the Romans gave us everything from plumbing to underfloor heating, and let’s not even get started on the Royal family.
So it should come as no surprise that some top UK TV shows are based on original series from around the world. Some of these are obvious, like Drag Race UK and Law & Order being imported from the US, or The Masked Singer originating in South Korea, but some UK remakes are less up front about their international origins.

This interview with “Bad Sisters” editors Catherine Creed and Derek Holland first appeared in the Below-the-Line issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
Based rather faithfully on the Flemish TV series “Clan,” AppleTV+’s “Bad Sisters” transplanted the darkly comic tale of a group of five sisters, one horrific husband and a possible murder to a dreamy depiction of greater Dublin. But the real narrative hook of the series, and the reason it became a talking-point show last summer, is its labyrinthine structure: Just as you’re embroiled in a storyline, the focus can shift on a dime (through a nifty film-reel effect) and transport you to another time, often not that far back in the chronology, deepening the focus and development of its many characters and creating more intrigue.

Jumping in a freezing cold body of water will definitely send adrenaline through your system, and if you’re making a TV show, it could also help inspire a great idea — like where to shoot a significant scene. “Bad Sisters,” the Apple TV+ dark comedy series created by and starring Sharon Horgan, has been renewed for Season 2, the streamer announced. The news comes less than a month after its 10-episode first season concluded on October 14.
Based on the 2012 Flemish TV series “Clan,” “Bad Sisters” stars Horgan as Eva Garvey, the eldest of five sisters, who ends up in the middle of a life insurance investigation when her brother-in-law John Paul (Claes Bang) dies under uncertain circumstances. As overzealous insurance agent Thomas (Brian Gleeson) tries to prove Eva and her sisters’ involvement in the death, the show flips from the weeks following his funeral to the weeks leading up to his death, when Eva plotted to murder John Paul with Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene), and Becka (Eve Hewson) in revenge for his abusive treatment of their sister Grace (Anne Marie-Duff).

It’s the news “Bad Sisters” fans have been hoping for: the limited series has been commissioned for a second season, meaning the murderous Garvey sisters are set to grace our screens once more.
Apple TV+ and executive producer and star Sharon Horgan confirmed the second season order on Tuesday (Nov. 8), although no other info – including potential release date, cast or plot details – has been revealed.
An adaptation of Belgian limited series “Clan,” “Bad Sisters” launched earlier this year with Horgan playing de-facto Irish matriarch Eva Garvey to her four younger sisters Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), Bibi (Sarah Greene), Ursula (Eva Birthistle) and Becka (Eve Hewson) in the wake of their parents’ deaths.
But the tight-knit group begins to unravel as Grace, trapped in an abusive marriage with the toxic John-Paul (Claes Bang), becomes increasingly diminished and distant. Her siblings soon hatch a plan to dispatch John-Paul in order to free...

Apple TV+ has renewed Bad Sisters, the dark comedy murder-mystery series from Sharon Horgan, for a second season.
The black comedy-drama, from Horgan’s Merman Television and Disney Television Studios’ ABC Signature, follows the tight-knit Garvey sisters, who all find themselves under investigation from life insurers when their brother-in-law is found dead.

“If you’d have told me three years ago that I’d be making a series about five murderous sisters chasing a man around Ireland trying to kill him, I’d have said, ‘Yeah, that sounds about right,’” said Horgan. “The response to our show had been beyond what we could have hoped for. It gave us the opportunity to shine a light on stories that don’t always get such a global platform. I look forward to getting chilly in the Irish Sea one more time.

Eminem’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction is a complicated honor given the institution’s history of overlooking hip-hop’s most influential and pioneering Black artists, but Saturday night’s induction ceremony was a celebration of his contributions to the genre nonetheless.
The rapper himself acknowledged that fact in his induction speech, quipping that there were probably a few reasons why he wasn’t supposed to be there Saturday night. “I know that I’m a rapper, and this is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and there...

Despite the fact that Apple TV+ series “Bad Sisters” follows four of the Garvey sisters as they spend almost ten episodes trying to kill a (somewhat) innocent man, Eva, Bibi, Ursula and Becka have captured viewers’ imaginations. The Ireland-based adaptation of Belgian limited series “Clan” has become something of a sleeper hit, gathering an increasing number of fans cheering the Garvey girls on as the show races to its inevitable conclusion.
Hours after the finale episode hit Apple on Friday (Oct. 14), Variety talked to writer, executive producer and star Sharon Horgan, who plays would-be matriarch Eva, to discuss the reaction to the show, as Claes Bang’s casting as villain John Paul (Jp) and whether the Garvey sisters might ever make a return to the small screen.

The thing that makes “Bad Sisters” so tricky is that the Garvey family alone could fuel multiple seasons. The collection of sisters at the heart of the newest Apple TV+ drama are all distinct women with their own lives, bound by more than just hatred for a loathsome man.
The opening hour of “Bad Sisters” introduces us to them all in clear, efficient fashion. There’s Eva (Sharon Horgan), the confident businesswoman who’s served as the mother figure to the rest since the death of their parents. Ursula (Eva Birthistle) is raising her own kids while juggling a hospital job and various other outside interests. Though many of them are resolute and inclined toward defending the group, Bibi (Sarah Greene) is the Garvey sister who most follows both those instincts. Becka (Eve Hewson) is the youngest, with a freewheeling life only partly taken up by her massage practice.

If Sharon Horgan’s attached to a show, there’s a more than decent chance that it’ll be a spiky comedy tinged with the tragedy of everyday indignities. From “Catastrophe” to “Motherland” to “Shining Vale,” Horgan’s cornered an enviable market that almost always delivers, especially when it comes to the ins and outs of being a smart woman in an increasingly dumb world. “Bad Sisters” — debuting Aug. 19 on Apple TV+ — is happily no exception.
From Horgan, Brett Baer and Dave Finkel, “Bad Sisters” takes the premise of the Belgian series “Clan” and twists it into a more Irish shape. Horgan stars as Eva, the eldest of five sisters who took on a more maternal role after both their parents died in a car crash. Joining her are Eva Birthistle (“The Last Kingdom”) as Ursula, a working mother at the end of her rope; Sarah Greene (“Normal People”) as Bibi,...

John-Paul Williams is a bad, bad husband. He’s belittling, controlling, physically imposing. He exclusively calls his wife “mammy”, even in front of company. In other words, he has to go. Mercifully, when we first meet him in the new Dublin whodunnit Bad Sisters, he’s already dead – a fact that doesn’t keep John-Paul, played with cultivated smugness by Danish actor Claes Bang, from posthumously threatening to tear his family apart.

It is fair to say that if the UK or America handled The Out-Laws (aka Clan) it would be just another Suburban Housewives. Thankfully though the Dutch have a darker sense of humour and we are treated to a tale of potential homicide where things never go to plan.
The Out-Laws is the tale of the Goethals sisters who are inseparable due to the early death of their parents. When one of the sisters marries a domineering man in the form of Jean-Claude Delcorps (Dirk Roofthooft) the bond is weakened. As Jean-Claude manipulates and ruins the lives of each of the sisters, a plan is concocted to murder the evil brother-in-law. When his death finally takes place, the question is, who actually managed to do it?
