Did you know
- TriviaAbout 20 minutes in, there is a postcard on the wall of papers that John and Mary are looking through that's titled "Manners Motel." This is an obvious nod to Kim Manners, who produced 78 episodes and directed 17 episodes of Supernatural (2005) until his untimely death in 2009. Jensen Ackles, who produces and narrates The Winchesters, was one of the stars of Supernatural. Kim Manners' catchphrase "Kick it in the ass" was used many times in that show.
- GoofsSupernatural established that John never knew Mary was a hunter and he didn't become one until after Mary's death. Even when they got attacked by the angel Anna (after they were married) and he did find out about Mary being a hunter, those memories were erased by Michael.
(X) It is revealed by Dean in #1.13 (the series finale) that The Winchesters is set on an alternate Earth, so what happened on Supernatural may not have necessarily happened here.
- Quotes
John Winchester: You're going to think I'm crazy.
Mary Campbell: I already think you're crazy.

So yellow .... Needs work
A veteran Supernatural fan here and my honest review of the pilot episode. And while I didn't hate it, I feel the first episode was not as engaging as the pilot episode of SPN.
1st - why is the lighting so yellow-ish looking?
2nd - If we're going for a 1972 feel/setting, than why oh why do Mary & John not look like they're in 1972? Mary's hair is straight flat ironed like mid to late 2010's fashion. Neither John or Mary are wearing 70's fashion clothes either. (Which they did in the SPN flashbacks that established canon) Also, why does John not have a military style haircut since he had just served??
3rd - It feels like the plot is moving through all the major plot beats without the emotional connective tissue that makes you invest in the characters.
4th - As nice as it was to hear certain references from SPN, John literally says "saving people, hunting things" after only just finding out about hunting at the beginning of the episode. He hasn't even really saved anyone yet, or really hunted.
The elephant in the room here is, how exactly is this show going to explain established canon that John didn't know about hunting or the supernatural until AFTER Mary's death on SPN?
Again, didn't hate it, the training wheels are still on. If it wants to improve the training wheels need to come off.
