Hulu’s acclaimed new limited series “We Were the Lucky Ones” is led by Logan Lerman. who give the best performance of his career. Adapted from Georgia Hunter‘s 2017 book of the same, the story follows the Kurcs, a Polish Jewish family torn apart by WWII. It’s a difficult watch but creator Erica Lipez has crafted a gripping, vital narrative with Lerman at the center of the show. He plays Addy Kurc, the middle child who pursues a career as a composer in post-war Paris. Critics agree, Lerman is a revelation in this role.
Proma Khosla (Indie Wire) stated: “As Addy, Lerman is siloed from the other siblings for almost the entire series, but never waivers in his portrayal of someone sustained by hope and eventually in the haze of grief.”
Maggie Levitt (Collider) observed: “Lerman is another clear standout in the series, though his performance is more subtle...

It’s been a hot minute since everybody’s childhood crush, Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the cult classic Harry Potter franchise, graced the silver screen. The actress was last seen in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women way back in 2019 as Meg March. The long hiatus has left Potterheads wondering if she has cast an “Evanesco” and given up the profession they watched her grow up in. Apart from the beloved Harry Potter franchise she’s most well-known for, we even saw her in fun projects like The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Bling Ring, and she even played

Matt Shakman’s The Fantastic Four is reported to have hired Ozark star Julia Garner in the film. The film already has an ensemble cast in the form of Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon-Moss Bachrach. It will be the first depiction of the characters in the MCU and is rumored to be set in an alternate reality. The characters have had two iterations before.
Julia Garner has been cast as the Silver Surfer in the upcoming film, which seemingly has not gone down well with fans. Though it is speculated that she would be playing the role of Shalla-Bal, a female version of the supervillain in another reality, fans seem to be extremely upset with the gender-swapped role and criticized Marvel for the move.

Logan Lerman, best known for the Percy Jackson film series, began acting in commercials when he was young and made his film debut in 2000 with the movie The Patriot. After starring in several movies, he decided he needed a break in the early 2000s and would return to the industry when he was 12. In 2004, he was cast in one of the two titular roles in the TV series Jack & Bobby.
Logan Lerman in Hunters
By the time he was cast as the titular character in the 2009 movie Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, he had appeared in numerous projects and won three Young Artist Awards. The movies have been criticized for deviating from the source material for years. With the release of the new Disney+ series, fans were hoping to have those mistakes corrected. However, Lerman’s recent words have drawn a surprisingly new reaction from them.

For fans of World War II period dramas and the original "Percy Jackson" films, I have incredible news. The limited series "We Were the Lucky Ones" is coming to Disney's newly-purchased Hulu very soon, and it looks like it's going to be worth the wait.
The show is "inspired by the incredible true story of one Jewish family separated at the start of World War II, determined to survive and reunite," according to the official synopsis. "The series demonstrates how in the face of the 20th century's darkest moment, the human spirit can endure and even thrive. The series is a tribute to the triumph of hope and love against all odds."
It is adapted from a New York Times best-selling novel of the same name by Georgia Hunter, a 46-year-old Jewish-American author. Her book is based on the true story of her family's survival in the Holocaust. Although the...

Writer-director Sean Wang is tough on himself in “Dìdi,” a fresh and funny summer-before-freshman-year flashback that provides an Asian American angle on that Sundanciest of indie-film genres: the semi-autobiographical coming-of-age movie. In what feels like a cross between Bing Liu’s “Minding the Gap” and Jonah Hill’s “mid90s” — courtesy of the young director’s teenage desire to make skate videos — Wang serves up some of his most wince-inducing adolescent memories, from an aborted first kiss to the realization that he’d been trying to downplay his Taiwanese heritage.
Hacky creative writing coaches are always insisting, “Write what you know.” And yet, when the result comes out as specific and self-effacing as Wang’s Fremont, Calif.-set time capsule, it’s hard to improve on that advice. As Wang reminds, the year 2008 (which also saw the financial crisis in precipitous fall) found thousands of teens making the transition from...

John Hughes once explained why he loved stories about young people caught between childhood and adulthood. “One of the great wonders of that age is your emotions are so open and raw,” he said. “At that age it feels as good to feel bad as it does to feel good.”
The poet laureate of the coming-of-age film wasn’t wrong. These movies are built on some of the biggest feelings there are – first love! True friendship! Desperately trying to find a decent party and some booze! – and put you right back in the time when you felt everything so much, you thought you might actually burst. The arc is simple: a young person (or little gang of them) goes through some kind of quest or experience which opens their eyes to the world and shows them how innocent they were, and now never can be again. Emma Watson is opening up about why she stepped away from acting.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Watson reflected on why she hasn’t made a movie since Greta Gerwig’s Little Women, which finished shooting at the end of 2018.
“I wasn’t very happy, if I’m being honest, I think I felt a bit caged,” she said.
“The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over. To stand in front of a film and have every journalist be able to say, ‘How does this align with your viewpoint?’ It was very difficult to have to be the face and the spokesperson for things where I didn’t get to be involved in the process,” she explained.

Emma Watson hasn’t acted since December 2018, when she wrapped production on Greta Gerwig’s beloved “Little Women” adaptation. Considering the “Harry Potter” star isn’t currently attached to any film or television projects, her acting hiatus could very well hit the five-year mark by the end of 2023. Why did Watson step away from acting? She told Financial Times in a recent interview that she “wasn’t very happy” with the profession.
“I think I felt a bit caged,” Watson said. “The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over. To stand in front of a film and have every journalist be able to say, ‘How does this align with your viewpoint?’ It was very difficult to have to be the face and the spokesperson for things where I didn’t get to be involved in the process.

James Gunn is still searching for his Man of Steel. The DC Studios head shot down rumors that casting for his highly anticipated young-Superman film is nearing completion on Twitter Wednesday, as well as the notion that actor Logan Lerman is the top candidate.
On Wednesday, Grace Randolph, a YouTube host and internet personality, tweeted that she heard casting for Gunn’s upcoming “Superman: Legacy,” a reboot of the character focusing on the beginning of his career, is “very close” to being set. After a fan tagged Gunn asking him to weigh in, the “Guardians of the Galaxy” director said the rumor was false and that he “hadn’t had a single talk with a single actor about the role.” He did share that he was “making private lists” for candidates, however, and was in the middle of prepping audition materials for the film.

Emma Watson has established her career with many films after her Harry Potter days. One of the films that helped round out her filmography was the 2012 feature Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Perks also saw Watson making out with her co-star Logan Lerman in the film. But it was one of the few scenes that Watson tried to avoid watching.
Emma Watson didn’t want to do any films when she was sent the script for ‘Perks of Being a Wallflower’ Emma Watson | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
The Perks of Being a Wallflower was a 2012 drama that was based on the novel of the same name by Stephen Chbosky. Chbosky would also end up directing the feature. It starred Watson as a very outgoing high school student mentoring a socially awkward teenager played by Logan Lerman.
When Watson was first sent the script for the movie, she was already fresh off of her Harry Potter films.

The YA adaptation boom of the 2010s is a fascinating time, filled with potential franchises that never took off, some that lingered far beyond their expiration date, and others that remained successful till their final curtain call. The landscape had never been more fruitful for teens and, especially, young girls to have something for them at the box office. But if you weren’t already in love with an established book, like Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games,” the odds weren’t in your favor that your favorite adaptation would get more than a single feature.

Ezra Miller has filed a plea deal stemming from trespassing and burglary charges last year. In October, Ezra Miller pleaded not guilty to the charges. Miller’s guilty plea would see the actor avoiding trial and theoretically ending the drama surrounding them–at least in this case.
As per the notice of plea agreement obtained by Deadline, under the count 3 of unlawful trespass, Ezra Miller will have to pay a fine of 692, which includes both the fine and surcharges. Miller will also see an 89-90-day suspended sentence and one year of probation. The actor could have faced 26 years in prison. Miller signed the agreement on December 23rd.
The incident, which occurred in Vermont last year, allegedly found Ezra Miller breaking into a home and stealing alcohol, the ingredients of which were, as he put it, part of “a recipe for their mother.” At the time, it was determined that...

Ben Platt is calling out the criticisms of the “Dear Evan Hansen” movie.
The 2021 film, which starred a then-27 year old Platt as a high school student, received immediate backlash for the odd makeup choices to de-age the “Pitch Perfect” actor. Vulture compared the film to the age-bending “The Orphan” horror movie, while IndieWire’s coverage likened Platt’s looks to that of a “serial killer” and the D-rated review drew attention to the “cascade of glaring distractions that continuously point out the artificiality of the genre.”
Now, Platt is addressing the hit-musical-turned-movie box office flop heard ’round Broadway.
“It was definitely a disappointing experience and difficult,” Platt told The New York Times. “It definitely opened my eyes to the Internet and how horrific it can be.”
Platt added, “You’d think, after doing ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ onstage for four years, I would have already known that. I try my...

Logan Lerman has been cast in “We Were the Lucky Ones,” Hulu’s upcoming limited series based on Georgia Hunter’s 2017 novel of the same name.
Inspired by a true story, the series follows a Polish Jewish family that is separated by World War II and determined to survive and reunite. Lerman plays Addy, the middle child, who is 25 years old at the start of the war. He is an adventurer who lives in Paris as an engineer while also enjoying budding success as a music composer, and has an ability to find common ground with dissimilar people and a talent to fix anything. Addy’s character is inspired by Hunter’s grandfather, who was a young man in the late 1930s.
Lerman is best known for leading the 2010 and 2013 “Percy Jackson” films as well as 2012’s “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” with additional credits including “The Butterfly Effect,...

Thanks to his affable charm, charismatic screen presence, and seeming agelessness, Paul Rudd has become one of Hollywood's most endearing performers. Though primarily known for his comedic roles, Rudd was classically trained at the beginning of his career, studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts-West and the British Drama Academy at Oxford University. This academic background perhaps lends an emotional truth to Rudd's numerous sarcastic and sardonic characters.
While many actors can play a funny jerk, it's hard to bring warmth and empathy to that same archetype, a specific chemistry Rudd has made his own. Rudd is also known for his frequent collaborations with writer/producer/director Judd Apatow and comedians Michael Ian Black, David Wain, and Michael Showalter. Outside of acting, Rudd is also a producer and writer who has managed to keep both feet in television and film throughout his career. A grounded performer who also loves a good prank,...

A new Vanity Fair profile of actor Ezra Miller, who is currently undergoing therapy for their self-admitted “complex mental health issues,” paints a picture of a person who is not only dangerous, manipulative and abusive, but also, according to his ex-fiancée, has “illusions of grandeur.”
In the last two years, Miller has had frequent run-ins with the law following reports of multiple assaults, a felony theft and child endangerment. Two restraining orders have been issued in two states, but Miller remains free and Warner Bros. is still planning to release “The Flash,” despite the mounting incidents.
After facing felony burglary charges in Vermont in August, Miller issued the following statement: “Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment. I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior.
