Jamie Campbell Bower, Johnny Depp, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street The National Movie Awards are a sort of British version of the People's Choice Awards. This year's winners included popular favorites Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 as Best Fantasy Film, The King's Speech as Best Drama (beating out Black Swan, The Social Network, and 127 Hours), and Colin Firth for Performance of the Year. [Full list of National Movie Award winners and nominees.] As you can see, the National Movie Awards actually has quite a bit in common with the Academy Awards. Only the categories are slightly different, e.g., Best Comedy (Paul), One to Watch: Brits Going Global (Jamie Campbell Bower). In case you're wondering, Bower plays Gellert Grindelwald in the two Deathly Hallows movies. He also plays Caius in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2. Johnny Depp, for his part, received the Screen Icon [...]...

Cinema’s least important awards show was screened on UK telly last night, where members of the public are invited to vote for Harry Potter films. Here’s what won
Last night saw an evening of British television, on ITV at least, given over to the National Movie Awards. We don't think it's going out on much of a limb to suggest that these don't hold quite the same sway as the Oscars, with some luminaries as Lewis Hamilton and Shirley Bassey presenting the awards. But they did actually manage to come up with some deserving recipients this time around.
That said, it was another excuse to buff up The King's Speech on the week it just happens to be out on DVD in the UK. And there was a coincidental Screen Icon gong given to Johnny Depp, too, a week before the fourth Pirates Of The Caribbean movie hits our screens.

Twilight was the big winner at last night's National Movie Awards, taking home three trophies.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon, the second in the series, was named best fantasy film and its star Robert Pattinson took the award for best performance.
Its third instalment, Eclipse, which is due out on June 30 in the UK and July 9 in the USA, was chosen as the most anticipated summer movie at the ITV1 awards ceremony.
Pattinson was not able to attend the ceremony at London's Royal Festival Hall due to filming commitments but said in a video clip: "It means a lot to me because you the fans decided the winner.
"Thanks for voting for me."
Peter Facinelli, who plays Dr Carlisle Cullen, collected the saga's other awards (see picture above).
The character I play is from London so this is a warm welcome home," he said.
"We appreciate you lending us the...

As we told you last month, Rupert Grint and his Harry Potter co-stars were nominated for several awards at the National Movie Awards . The latest news from the ceremony, hosted by Rupert's old Cherrybomb friend James Nesbitt and being shown live on ITV1, is that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has won Best Family Film, and we will have video up for you as soon as we possibly can. Unfortunately, Rupert is poorly and they want him to be well for filming tomorrow, so he's not at the NMAs this evening. Update: Thanks to our Order Partner, DanRadcliffe, com, We have video for you of Daniel and co accepting both awards, and have it up on YouTube here... ...here... ...and here . Update 2: Another video of Rupert in his Epilogue costume and makeup is available here .

The National Movie Awards 2010
8pm, ITV1
Live from London's Royal Festival Hall tonight, it's the third National Movie Awards, which is to the Oscars what Pixie Lott is to Aretha Franklin. Hosted by noted movie star James Nesbitt, it would be wise to anticipate rewards for big films with little substance, since tonight is all about box office smashes like Avatar and Harry Potter. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Inventing an award for films that haven't even come out yet – that's the closely fought Most Anticipated Must-See Summer Movie category – is, however, plain daft.

9pm, BBC2
Poor John Self. He appears to be on the verge of the big time as his movie comes together, but he can't shake off the impression that things aren't quite as they seem. He's right, of course,...
