New series featuring Fifty Shades of Grey heartthrob Jamie Dornan as identical twins and Julie Delpy as the French president are among the highlights of Netflix’s new British series slate, which the streamer unveiled at an event in London on Thursday.
Dornan, seen recently in Netflix’s The Tourist, will play twin brothers Adam and Lee in The Undertow, a U.K. adaptation of the Norwegian series Twin, which featured Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju in the lead roles. Mackenzie Davis (Station Eleven) plays Nicola, who is stuck in a loveless marriage to Adam before the arrival of his brother Lee turns her life upside down. Kristoffer Metcalfe created the Norwegian original, which Nordisk Film produced. Complete Fiction and wiip are adapting the series, with production to start in Scotland later this year.

The Secret Service has initiated an investigation into actor John Schneider after his now-deleted post that called for the hanging of the president, accused him of treason and claimed Biden targeted his son, who currently faces criminal charges.
Schneider, known for his roles in The Dukes of Hazzard and Smallville, made the controversial comments shortly after the Season 10 finale of The Masked Singer, where he participated as a contestant.
The Secret Service, which is responsible for the safety of the president, vice president and their families, as well as high-ranking government officials and political candidates, has taken the statements seriously and launched an inquiry into the matter. The agency, which operates under the Department of Homeland Security, typically does not comment on current investigations related to protective intelligence.
However, they have confirmed that they investigate all threats that concern their protectees, and include any potential threat against the president.

Are you craving some spy action? If you’ve exhausted the Bond franchise, completed the Mission: Impossible collection, and revisited the Bourne movies more times than is medically advisable, perhaps it’s time to look to television.
A lot of different shows come under the heading of a “spy thriller”. You’ll find action, family drama, comedy, politics and even the odd alien invasion all represented in this list. But there are a few things that they all have in common. They all feature twists and turns and characters keeping deep, dark secrets. They all have a tendency towards ruthlessness – don’t get too attached to any one person! The possibility that any character in the show might be killed off at any moment, up to and including the protagonist, is one of the things that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. And they are all compelling, unmissable TV.

Secret Invasion is not the first time the MCU has dipped its toe into the spy genre; Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been a fan favorite among MCU films since it was released in 2014. But Secret Invasion, a show following not superheroes (Rhodey aside), but human spies and aliens posing as humans, embraces the spy genre more than anything we’ve seen yet. With Russia back in the bad guy role, the show draws on the best spy dramas of the Cold War, and with London featuring quite heavily in its story and the British Prime Minister having a major role, a lot of those dramas are British spy classics.

Behind some bins – big wheelie ones down an alley on Dublin’s Northside – a man and a woman, both oldish, are coupling frantically. Their al fresco pleasure is interrupted when they are spotted by the man’s daughter, who’s just come out of an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.
“It’s not what it looks like, Shiv,” explains her flustered father, as he makes himself decent while the woman, short and of Asian heritage, with cropped silver hair, yanks up her tights.
“It looks like an old Irish man f***in’ a woman behind some bins,” she says.
This delicious scene is from The Dry, a daffy eight-part tragicomedy previously on Britbox, now coming to Itvx. The old man is played, with all his baffled hangdog charm, by Ciarán Hinds, who is 70. Actor and comedian Jim Carrey played a very small yet significant role in Charlie Cox becoming the Marvel star many know him as. Because if it wasn’t for Carrey and his work, Cox might not be in the film industry today.

Cox paid a lot of dues to end up in the position he’s currently in now. The Daredevil star’s road to superstardom wasn’t the easiest. He enrolled in the Bristol Old Vic Theater School in England when he was 19 years old, officially embarking on a career in acting. From there, Cox auditioned and appeared in several theater plays, television shows and feature films to build up his profile and filmography.
His hard work would eventually lead to the movie Stardust, which was one of Cox’s biggest roles back then.

After a series of brief bumps for Peacock, “Yellowstone” scores its first billion-minute week on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10. During the week of Dec. 26-Jan. 1, the drama sits at No. 5 on the chart with 1.04 billion minutes viewed.

Glass Onion had 2.89 billion minutes of viewing time for the week of Dec. 26 to Jan. 1, up from 2.23 billion for its debut weekend. That’s equivalent to 20.76 million full showings of the 139-minute film and the highest viewing time ever for a feature film in the Nielsen rankings. The reign of “Wednesday” has been cut short by mother-daughter duo “Ginny & Georgia.”
Season 2 of the Netflix drama debuted in the No. 1 spot on the English TV List with 180.47 million hours viewed, making it the most-watched title on the streamer for the week of Jan. 2-8. That’s an impressive opening figure for the series. This would mean opening numbers for “Ginny & Georgia” bested Season 3 of “Emily in Paris,” “The Watcher,” and Season 5 of “Cobra Kai.” For context, Ryan Murphy’s “Monster” recorded 196.2 million hours in its first week of viewing and Season 2 of “Bridgerton” had 193.02 million.
On the film side, “Glass Onion” continues to break records. After joining Netflix’s Most Popular Films List at No. 9 last week with 209.4 million hours recorded, Rian Johnson’s murder mystery picked up another 44.32 million hours viewed in its third week of availability pushing it to No. 1 on the English Language Films chart and No.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Story has become the third most-watched original film Netflix has ever released.
The film, a sequel to Rian Johnson’s 2019 murder mystery Knives Out, was released on the streaming service before Christmas.
With 209.4 million hours viewed, Glass Onion has leapfrogged films such as The Grey Man and Bird Box to claim its place in the top three.

Don’t Look Up, released in December 2021, is an environmental satire directed by The Big Short’s Adam McKay, and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep. The film garnered 359.8 million hours viewed within the first 28 days of release.

In its first full week of streaming availability, Rian Johnson’s “Glass Onion” became Netflix’s third most watched film, in terms of hours viewed over a title’s first 10 days following launch.
During the Dec. 26-Jan. 1 viewing window, the “Knives Out” sequel film, which dropped Dec. 23 on Netflix, raked in 127 million hours watched. Combining that stat with “Glass Onion’s” initial Christmas debut on the streamer, which drew in 82.1 million hours viewed, and the movie has now reached 209.4 million hours watched.
Per Netflix, that figure puts “Glass Onion” in third place, just behind “Red Notice” and “Don’t Look Up,” when it comes to the streamer’s most-watched movies in their first 10 days of viewership.
“Glass Onion” remained the No. 1 English-language film on the Top 10 rankings for the second week in a row and has now reached No. 10 on Netflix’s overall Most Popular Films list, which is calculated based...

Rian Johnson‘s latest whodunit Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has made a splash at Netflix, securing the top spot on the streamer’s English-language film charts for the week of December 26 to January 1.
The Benoit Blanc mystery managed 127.25M hours viewed in its first full week since release, in addition to the 82.1M viewing hours it took home in the first two days it was on the platform.
In 10 days, the film has skyrocketed to become Netflix’s third most-watched film, behind Red Notice (364.02M) and Don’t Look Up (359.79M). Netflix measures its most popular lists based on the first 28 days of viewing, so Glass Onion still has time to make its way even higher.
Knives Out is also on last week’s film list at No. 3 with 16.76M hours viewed. Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical made its way on to the list at No. 2 with 41.1M hours viewed.

Netflix has given viewers instructions for how to watch its new series Kaleidoscope “as a Quentin Tarantino film”.
The series, released on the streaming service last week, is non-linear, meaning that all of the episodes bar the finale can be watched in any order.
Viewers have shared their own theories regarding the optimal order to watch the episodes, while some have made sure to warn others of one important mistake to avoid.
On Twitter, the official Netflix account shared four suggestions for the order in which to screen the episodes.
The first option suggested is in chronological order, with episodes lined up to follow the timeline sequentially from 24 years before the heist, through to its six-month aftermath.
Secondly, Netflix proposes a way to watch the series “as a Tarantino film”, jumping around in time between the past, present and future. Tarantino has been known for deploying similar non-linear plot structures...

Oona Chaplin has revealed that her new Netflix spy drama Treason was originally supposed to end quite differently.
Chaplin stars as Maddy, a former army medic and wife of high-flying MI6 operative Adam Lawrence (Charlie Cox), in the recently released series.
*Warning – Major spoilers ahead for the Treason finale*
In a major twist, Treason kills off its lead star, Cox, midway through the final episode.
Chaplin told The Independent in an interview that the series’ producers had to call her while they were halfway through shooting to let her know that the ending had been changed.
“I know that they were kind of toing and froing about it because nobody really wants to kill Charlie Cox,” she said of the decision.
“But they called me and they said, ‘Okay, brace yourself. Are you sitting down? We've made a change. This is what's happening.’ And I was like, you’ve got...

There’s something a bit magical about television on Christmas. Maybe it’s the cold weather driving everyone indoors. The gluttonous, slowly digesting roast dinners pinning everyone to the sofa. The intra-family arguments that need drowning out with noise. For whatever reason, Christmas always seems to be the time when most everyone agrees to convene around the TV screen and watch whatever’s on – an ingrained, sacred ritual somewhat befitting a religious holiday. I’m not sure Christmas TV has ever been less nourishing, however, than this year.
With a few notable exceptions, the UK’s 2022 Christmas TV line-up may have been the worst on record – it’s certainly the worst I can remember. There were a few highlights dotted around the festive period, of course, such as I Hate Suzie Too and a festive Motherland special. Children were well serviced with BBC One’s charming animation The Boy, the Mole,...

It’s a weird day to interview Oona Chaplin. The most anticipated film of the year, James Cameron’s Avatar sequel The Way of Water, has just been released, and Chaplin is set to take on a key role in the already filmed third instalment. We’re not talking about that, though. We’re chatting about her new Netflix spy thriller series Treason, which she stars in alongside Daredevil’s Charlie Cox and former Bond girl Olga Kurylenko. It’s the kind of bingeable crime caper that has become synonymous with the BBC over the years. However, this Boxing Day, as people roll out of bed heavy with yesterday’s indulgences, many will flick through Netflix, not the terrestrial channels, and land on Treason, where they will spend the next four hours.

Treason is a spy series created by Louise Hooper and Sarah O’Gorman. Charlie Cox, Olga Kurylenko and Ciarán Hinds are the three stars in this series, where they take on interesting roles as spies. The screenplay is written by Matt Charman.
Treason is a very entertaining action series about Russian spies in which Olga Kurylenko proves to be a versatile actress who knows how to take on varied roles, and adapting to the script as it evolves.
Treason (2022)
In this series you will find a bit of everything and probably be to the liking to thriller fans; while viewers who are not into espionage intrigues, you might enjoy this story of three characters that have to fluctuate from being deadly serious, to being mere humans.
Treason is has all the ingredients that will allow you to have a good time. It is not perfect, nor does it pretend to be.

What would it take for you to believe that your partner has been compromised by a foreign power? Muttered Russian words in their sleep? A stash of secret documents under the floorboards? Mysterious phone calls during movie night? These are the questions posed in Netflix’s new conspiracy thriller, Treason, which finds Charlie Cox at the reins of MI6 but under the spotlight of both the CIA and his wife.
Adam Lawrence (Cox) becomes the new C, head of the Secret Intelligence Service, after his predecessor (Ciarán Hinds) is poisoned in a London private members’ club. “Your whole career has been building up to this,” his wife Maddy (Oona Chaplin) tells him. “Will you still be taking the bins out?” Of course Adam will still be taking the bins out! As we head into the Christmas holidays, it seems like a good time for my semi-annual discussion of in medias res openings. You know, that thing where something exciting but confusing is happening for a minute or two at the top of a TV episode and then you get a “Two Weeks Earlier” title card.
You see them all the time and mostly, I hate to say, they’re not very good.
As I figure it, there are exactly two correct uses for an in medias res opening.
Use one: Present a scene so outlandish and packed with bizarre details that curiosity is unavoidable. A man wakes up in bed. The camera pulls back to reveal that he’s spooning with Dr. Ruth. The camera pulls back to reveal that the man and Dr. Ruth are surrounded by the corpses of 50 adorable white rabbits.

One of the most anticipated upcoming MCU series is “Daredevil: Born Again,” which sees Charlie Cox return to a leading role as the beloved superhero after his original Netflix series was canceled in 2018. And the British actor has a lot of time to enjoy playing Matt Murdock again. In a recent interview with NME, the actor said he will spend 11 months next year shooting the massive 18-episode Disney+ series.
“They said to me, ‘We’re going to be shooting in 2023’,” Cox told NME. “I said, ‘Great, when?’ They said, ‘All 2023’. I start shooting in February and finish in December.”
The 18-episode count for “Born Again’s” first season makes it the longest Disney+ MCU series by a large margin — the other shows, such as “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” and “Wandavision,” range for six to nine episodes total. Its also significantly longer than the three Netflix “Daredevil” seasons, which were 13 episodes each.

Charlie Cox has shut down any speculation about him donning 007’s famous tuxedo.
The Daredevil star plays MI6 operative Adam Lawrence in Netflix’s upcoming spy drama, Treason.
The role, combined with Cox’s age (40) and appearance, has many people throwing the actor’s name into contention for Daniel Craig’s replacement as James Bond.
But Cox doesn’t seem keen. “I’m not right for it,” he told Metro in a recent interview. “And also, now I think, if anything, Treason rules me out even more because I’ve kind of done it – it’s almost too close to home.

Season 1 of the generally well-received "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" series came to an epic and satisfying end exactly two months ago, but fans of the sprawling and large-scale production knew that they would have to settle in for quite a long wait before seeing where the adventure took all our favorite heroes and villains next. We know that all the surviving cast of characters, from Morfyyd Clark's Galadriel to Robert Aramayo's Elrond to Markella Kavenagh's Nori to Charlie Vickers' Sauron, will be back for another round (although with one notable recasting). Ditto for a batch of new actors who will be joining the fray, setting up an even bigger storyline to come in season 2. But what about the creative team behind the camera?

Charlie Cox (of "Daredevil" fame) is suiting up for his grand return for Netflix, but sadly, there are no devil ears involved this time around. He won't be prowling the streets of Hell's Kitchen or defending New Yorkers with his background in law. But don't start moping quite yet — just because Netflix is no longer the home of his breakout role, doesn't mean they've forgotten Cox's virtues as an action star.
The actor is set to don a suit and tie as an agent for MI6 in the espionage thriller "Treason," a five-episode limited series from Matt Charman, the co-writer of "Bridge of Spies." In case you weren't sure about what to binge this holiday season, Charlie Cox has you covered.
