An out-of-control drug taker creates disaster in a hospital.
An episode of Irwin Allen's final TV series - Code Red. Which is The Towering Inferno, Emergency and Bonanza all thrown in together. With such a combination we should get the ultimate series of the 1980s but instead we got 20 episodes before it was axed.
From what I have seen in my 2021 Youtube viewings of Code Red - the show seems to be a little hit and miss. An episode titled Fireworks had that same wonderfully overblown flashy style Irwin Allen made famous in the 60s and 70s - this hit. However, despite a promising first few minutes, this hour - No Escape - is missing both suspense and interesting dialogue - this missed.
You know an hour of TV is in trouble when the incidental music cues (by Irwin Allen regular Richard LaSalle) are more entertaining than the show itself. And despite the best efforts of series star Lorne Green, this family of characters does not have the same bond seen in Bonanza.
However, I have been told Code Red inspired some people to become firefighters so the series has it's purpose.
If you wish to re-visit Code Red, watch the episode titled Fireworks instead.
