In the episode Larry gets into an argument with a fellow golf club member and the member dies on the golf course. The next day while playing golf on the same hole where the member died, Larry kills the golf club owner's black swan as it attacks him. In an effort to cover his tracks, Larry begins offering a theory to family and friends of the deceased club member about the black swan being responsible for his death.
There is an actual Black Swan Theory that refers to events which are difficult to predict in the normal course of business. They are random, unexpected, but high-impact events. These events are considered outliers, because there is no past data which can point towards its occurrence in the foreseeable future. With the unexpected death of the club member, Larry presents his own Black Swan Theory to explain the unusual circumstances.
