Sci Fi Reality
Note: Although the IMDb claims that this movie dates from 1980, my source says 1976.
In 1957, William Shockley and his team at Bell Labs came up with the transistor. By 1951, they were coming off production lines. By 1976, silicon wafer technology -- what we call 'chips' nowadays -- were a reality, shrinking ever smaller, in use in computers and telephone technology. Of course you need a science-fiction sort of guy to tell you about them, and who better than Captain Kirk, aka William Shatner?
With his straightforward, rapid delivery, Shatner makes it all seem so obvious. Nowadays, with computer power millions of times greater than fifty years ago, when most people carry around a computer in their pocket and call it a phone, what will come next?
